    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a process for the preparation of a one component translucent room temperature vulcanisable (RTV) silicone composition. The RTV composition comprises chain-extended alkoxy end-capped polydiorganosiloxane polymers, and tin-based catalysts. The process generates a one component translucent RTV silicone composition which is stable in storage, in the absence of moisture, and is curable in the presence of atmospheric moisture at ambient temperature. The one component translucent RTV silicone composition resulting from the process was unexpectedly found to have excellent adhesive properties towards polyvinyl chloride (PVC) substrates.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a multi-layered composite thin film material formed from graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and metal nanocrystals in a layer-by-layer design, wherein the metal nanocrystals can be selected from the group consisting of Ru, Rh, Os, Ir, Pd, Au, Ag and Pt. In a preferred embodiment, the multi-layered composite thin film material is prepared via a facile, green, and easily accessible layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly strategy. In this strategy, positively charged GOQDs and negatively charged metal nanocrystals are alternately and uniformly integrated with each other in a “face-to-face” stacked fashion under substantial electrostatic attractive interaction, and then the obtained GOQDs/metal composite thin film is calcined into GQDs/metal composite thin film. The composite thin film material disclosed herein may be used to catalyse a wide range or reactions, including selective reduction of aromatic nitro compounds in water and electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol at ambient conditions.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are compounds capable of inducing apoptosis through promoting Nur77 interaction with Bcl-2 and through modulating mitochondrial activities. Also disclosed herein are compositions and methods using these compounds and compositions. Nur77 is a key regulator of Bcl-2 activities and is capable of converting Bcl-2 from an anti-apoptotic protein to a pro-apoptotic protein. Small molecules that directly modulate the Nur77/Bc1-2 apoptotic pathways are promising for treating diseases with abnormal levels of Bcl-2, Nur77, or combinations thereof, including cancers.
