  • Publication number: 20060287216
Abstract: The present invention is directed to polymeric compounds comprising a main backbone derived from at least the following monomeric components: (1) 20 to 99.9% by weight, preferably 50% to 99% by weight, of at least one cationic monomer according to formula (I), and (II) 0.1 to 80% by weight of a hydrophobic unsaturated nonionic monomer that polymerizes in the presence of an initiator, optionally a water-soluble monomer (III) different from either monomer (I) and monomer (II), and optionally a crosslinking agent (IV). Said compounds are particularly useful to overcome the problem of dye bleeding and/or dye transfer in laundry processes.

  • Patent number: 6323306
Abstract: High molecular weight, water-soluble, cross-linked cationic polymers are prepared by reacting amine-functionalized cationic base polymers, in which the monomer units of the base polymer contain from about 0.05 to about 5.0% amine functionalized monomer units and from about 95 to about 99.95% additional monomer units, including cationic monomer units and optional non-cationic monomer units, with an amount of a cross-linking agent, reactive with the amines of the base polymer, providing between about 0.02 to about 3.0 equivalents of cross-linking agent reactive groups per each mole of amine. The polymers are useful as coagulants and as coatings.

  • Patent number: 5567761
Abstract: Aqueous-borne coating compositions containing:(A) an acetoacetylated polymer; and(B) a polyacrylate having at least two (meth)acrylate end groups, have long pot lives and may be cured by the evaporation of water in the presence of a basic catalyst. Acrylic copolymers having pendent urethane side groups which are terminated with (meth)acrylate groups are water-dispersible and may be cured with polyfunctional crosslinking agents or by free radical initiators to afford coatings having excellent properties. Incorporation of a crosslinking component containing epoxy groups improves the coating properties.
