  • Publication number: 20090150650
Abstract: Techniques for grouping individual processors into assignment entities are discussed. Statically grouping processors may permit threads to be assigned on a group basis. In this manner, the burden of scheduling threads for processing may be minimized, while the processor within the assignment entity may be selected based on the physical locality of the individual processors within the group. The groupings may permit a system to scale to meet the processing demands of various applications.

  • Publication number: 20090109995
Abstract: A software architecture providing ad hoc wireless networking capabilities. The software architecture may be compatible with wireless devices, such as UWB devices operating according to the WLP communication protocol. The software architecture may include user mode and kernel mode modules, and may include a multiplexing driver framework to enable system connection to multiple ad hoc networks.

  • Publication number: 20070101079
Abstract: File system write filters are provided which can selectively permit or prevent data from being written-protected storage media. The write filter utilized volatile cache memory to store data that is requested to be written to storage media by applications programming interface function calls. In one aspect, if the particular data is requested to be written to a file that is a file identified on the file exclusion list, the data can be written to the file in non-volatile storage. Otherwise, the particular data is written to volatile cache memory. In another aspect, the write filters can be utilized on computing devices to create a stateless computing device wherein data is written to volatile cache memory in response to write function calls. Upon rebooting, any data that was saved to the volatile cache memory is discarded and the computing device is restored to its original state.

  • Publication number: 20070081508
Abstract: A process for secure, safe, and easy provisioning of a wireless device with credentials to connect to a wireless network. A connecting wireless device and an established wireless device both utilize low power transmission at close proximity to exchange wireless connection setting information and/or a password. The connecting wireless device is moved into proximity with the established wireless device and a low power setting is discovered at which the wireless devices may communicate with a sufficiently low error rate. The proximity of the connecting wireless device to the established wireless device is verified and the connecting wireless device is then passed the secret information by the established network device.
