  • Patent number: 8667202
Abstract: A method of powering on a server is provided, wherein the server includes power consumption modules with the same functions, connectors, and a BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). The power consumption modules are connected to the server via the connectors respectively. This method includes the steps as follows. At first, the BIOS detects a delay power-up setting. When the delay power-up setting is detected, the BIOS staggers initialization times of the connectors, so that the connectors can be initialized respectively. When one of the connectors has been initialized, the connector is electrically connected to the corresponding power consumption module, so that the power consumption module can be delayed to be powered on.

  • Patent number: 8647278
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a system and a method for determining intracranial pressure (ICP) of a subject that comprises: (a) applying transcranial Doppler (TCD) to determine the middle cerebral artery (MCA) velocity of the subject and estimating changes in the ICP continuously based on a functional mapping that relates arterial blood pressure (ABP) and cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) to ICP, resulting in an estimated ICP trend; (b) generating a flash visual evoked potential (FVEP) on the subject, processing a detected FVEP signal and obtaining an estimated ICP; and (c) combining the estimated ICP trend from TCD CBFV and ABP with the estimated ICP obtained by signal processing of the detected FVEP signal to periodically correct the trend and obtain a non-invasive measure of ICP.

  • Patent number: 8102592
Abstract: Interferometric modulators include a movable mirror that is actuated by voltage applied to a plurality of electrodes relative to at least one other electrode, to define a cavity relative to a partially reflective mirror formed by a top plate. The depth of the cavity determines a bandwidth of light that is modulated by internal reflections within the cavity and which interferes with light that is reflected from a partially reflective mirror on the top plate, producing a desired reflected color of light for the modulator. Variations in manufacturing and material characteristics can cause the movable mirror to tilt relative to the partially reflective mirror, which degrades the modulation accuracy. To compensate, different voltages can be applied to the plurality of electrodes. The voltage can be determined at time of manufacture and stored in non-volatile memory, for use when the modulator is actuated during use.

  • Publication number: 20040088123
Abstract: A method for monitoring volumetric blood flow rate and apparatus using the method is provided. It is fundamentally different from conventional methods such as Doppler ultrasound method, electromagnetic method, or tracer based methods. Volumetric blood flow rate through a blood vessel is considered a combination of two components, namely the pulsatile component and the diastolic residual component. In aorta and major arteries, pulsatile component is responsible for practically all the blood flow transport and this component can be measured based on the method of this invention. Unlike theoretical approaches popular in academic community, pulsatile wavelets are considered relatively independent among them and cannot be adequately represented by oscillatory wave theories mainly based on the linear superposition rule. The solitary waves approach is adapted for arterial pulsatile waves in this invention followed by theoretical analysis of the waves.
