    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a communication method, an apparatus, and a system. The method includes: generating, by a base station, first indication information, where the first indication information is used to indicate configuration information of a first resource; generating, by the base station, second indication information, where the second indication information is used to indicate a relationship between a second resource and the first resource to a terminal; and sending, by the base station, the first indication information and the second indication information, so that the terminal determines its own receiving resource or sending resource. When the base station indicates the receiving resource or the sending resource of the terminal, according to the technical solutions provided in the embodiments of the present invention, resource indication overheads can be reduced.

The method for transmitting data on multiple carriers in the embodiments of the disclosure implements inter-carrier soft combination and decoding and increases a success rate of decoding.

A base station sends a first reference signal and a second reference signal, where the first reference signal is sent by using a first group of antenna ports, the second reference signal is sent by using a second group of antenna ports, the first group of antenna ports include at least two antenna ports, and the second group of antenna ports include at least two antenna ports; and second reference signals are mapped to a same time-frequency resource, or second reference signals sent on the at least two antenna ports in the second group of antenna ports are mapped to a same time-frequency resource. According to the foregoing solution, second reference signals transmitted on different ports are mapped to a same time-frequency resource, thereby reducing a quantity of occupied time-frequency resources.

Therefore, in the embodiments of this application, the relationship between the ports is determined by using characteristics of the ports on a side of the second device, so that the first device can relatively accurately determine the relationship between the ports, and the first device can perform appropriate communication management on the plurality of ports.
