    Abstract: A new ultrasonic aided laser joining method (UAL) for bonding dissimilar materials has been developed. The method is capable of eliminating the laser-induced bubbles at the bonding faces and to improve the joint strength over that of the conventional laser-assisted metal and plastic joining method (LAMP). Some experiments on joining titanium to polyethylene terephthalate have been conducted to show the superiority of UAL over LAMP. The results showed that the joint strength, measured in terms of failure load, was significantly increased when ultrasonic vibration was employed during laser joining. For the LAMP joined specimens, fracture normally occurred at the metal-plastic interface, whereas for the UAL joined specimens, fracture normally occurred in the parent plastic part. The improvement in joint strength is mainly due to the elimination of pores in the resolidified plastic.

    Abstract: A device and method for locally reinforcing and forming an elastic mold for micro-fluidic chips are provided. The device comprises a processing recess provided to a lathe, and a mold master pattern with a clamp installed in the processing recess through the mold master pattern clamp. The cathode of an electrophoresis auxiliary system is connected with a shaft of the lathe, and the output of the electrophoresis auxiliary system is simultaneously connected with the cathode and clamp of the mold master pattern, so that an auxiliary electric field can be formed between the mold master pattern and the cathode, so that a granular colloidal circulation system enables the mixed colloid produced by mixing reinforcing particles and filler colloid to deposit on the region to be reinforced of the elastic mold. A vacuum temperature control system is configured to heat and solidify the mixed colloid formed.

    Abstract: A surface modification device based on electrophoresis-assisted micro-nano particle melting and self-assembly, includes a working table, a particle and solution mixing and circulating container, a processing recess, a solution conveying apparatus, an electrophoresis-assisted apparatus, a vacuum heating apparatus and an integrated control cabinet. Sacrifice particles with a relatively low melting point are in a molten state. The molten particles cover or are adhered to another type of modified particles and the surface of the metal workpiece, so that the binding force between the metal workpiece and micro-nano particles is enhanced. By taking advantage of characteristics of the modified particles, hydrophilic and hydrophobic micro structures are obtained on the metal surface. The electrophoresis-assisted apparatus may greatly improve the deposition efficiency of extremely fine particles in a solution.

    Abstract: A metal surface modification apparatus, includes: a particle and solution mixing and circulating system used for providing nanoparticle solution for a workpiece; a rotating platform used for fixing the workpiece and driving the workpiece to rotate; an electrophoresis system used for depositing particles in the nanoparticle solution in the particle and solution mixing and circulating system to a surface of the workpiece according to an electrophoretic effect; and a temperature control apparatus used for changing a surface temperature of the workpiece. The metal surface modification apparatus provided in the present disclosure may perform hydrophilic and hydrophobic modification treatment on a metal surface by combining one or more different processes.
