    Abstract: A haptic stimulator includes a multilayer sheet with a piezoelectric or electroactive polymer layer adapted to mechanically deform upon application of voltage, the multilayer sheet secured to a substrate, and a source of electrical stimulation coupled to drive electrodes on the polymer layer with an AC signal to vibrate the polymer layer. In particular embodiments, the polymer contains polyvinylidene fluoride, and electrodes are patterned to control local electric fields. Another haptic stimulator has first and second electrodes with an air gap and an insulating sheet between first and second electrodes, with an AC voltage driver connecting to the electrodes. In a method of providing haptic stimulation to skin an alternating current supply drives first and second electrodes, the electrodes disposed upon either a piezoelectric or electroactive polymer sheet, vibrating the polymer layer by driving the electrodes; and coupling vibrations of the polymer layer to the sensate skin.

    Abstract: An online concierge system allows users to order items within discrete time intervals later than a time when an order was received or for short-term fulfillment when the order was received. To account for a number of shoppers available to fulfill orders during different discrete time intervals and numbers of orders for fulfillment during different discrete time intervals, the online concierge system specifies a target rate for orders fulfilled later than a specified discrete time interval and a threshold from the target rate. A trained machine learning model periodically predicts a percentage of orders being fulfilled late, with an order associated with a predicted percentage when the order was received. The online concierge system increases a price of orders associated with predicted percentages greater than the threshold from the target rate. The increased price of an order is determined from a price elasticity curve and the predicted percentage.

    Abstract: This invention provides a see-through full face mask and hood that integrates effective filtration for both inhaled and exhaled air. The mask includes a transparent visor mounted on a headband and surrounded by a frame. The headband or the frame (sides, bottom, etc.) can include a filtration assembly that allows passive inflow and outflow of air in a manner that is highly breathable. The frame generally seals against the users face in a comfortable manner. The visor can be surrounded by a subframe that can be moved upwardly out of engagement with a base frame—which remains attached to the wearer to expose the user's mouth for eating. The filtration assembly defines a plurality of tortuous or circuitous-path filtration tubes that employ bends, baffles, charged surfaces and/or other internal barriers to redirect airflow and thereby trap microdroplets containing pathogens until such pathogens can be rendered inactive.
