  • Patent number: 6379181
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) comprises an insulating housing (10) receiving a plurality of terminals (20) therein. A pair of grounding devices (50) and locking devices (40) are assembled to the housing and engage with each other. The housing defines first and second receiving slots (16a, 16b). The housing also defines an arced recess between the first and second slots. Each locking device comprises first and second locking arms (44, 46). A circular nut (48) is integrally formed with the first arm, and is fittingly received in an arced lower portion of the arced recess. The nut threadedly engages with a locking portion (56) of a corresponding grounding device.

  • Patent number: 6171142
Abstract: A connector assembly comprises a connector member, a bracket and a pair of board locks. The connector member includes an insulative housing having a front face and a rear face. The bracket is unitarily molded to include a spacer and a standing wall perpendicular to the spacer. A pair of strengthening walls is disposed perpendicularly extend from opposite edges of the spacer. The strengthening walls also perpendicularly extend from the same side of the standing wall. A pair of supporting plates for supporting the rear face of the connector member upwardly extends from an edge of the standing wall proximate opposite ends thereof. An angle between the supporting plates and the spacer is substantially 45°.

  • Patent number: 6168468
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing, a number of conductive contacts, a shell and a rear cover. Receiving slots are disposed in the insulative housing for receiving the conductive contacts. Positioning grooves are defined at a rear lower side of the insulative housing, and a number of bumps are disposed on opposite inside surfaces thereof to interferingly retain soldering sections of the conductive contacts. A stabilization device, stamped and formed from a bottom forward surface of the shell, aids in providing a stable mounting of the electrical connector on the printed circuit board. Thus the electrical connector is prevented from slanting forward on its mounting, assuring proper operation.

  • Patent number: 6142833
Abstract: An electrical connector in accordance with the present invention comprises a dielectric housing module, a plurality of contacts received in the housing module, and a shielding module enclosing the housing module. The housing module comprises at least a first mating portion and a second mating portion. The shielding module comprises a first shell for shielding the first mating portion, and a second shell for shielding the second mating portion. The contacts are received in both the first mating portion and the second mating portion of the housing module. Thus, the first and second mating portions of the connector define first and second mating directions perpendicular to each other thereby increasing the application scope of the connector.

  • Patent number: 6120323
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a housing, a number of contacts, a front shell and a rear shell. The front shell forms two L-shaped boardlocks. The housing has two standoffs to support the boardlocks. Each boardlock has two resilient legs. Each leg forms a barb at a free end thereof for engaging with a mounting hole defined in a printed circuit board. The connector is then firmly mounted on the printed circuit board and the height of the connector above the circuit board is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6080012
Abstract: An electrical connector having a retention mechanism for steadily securing the electrical connector to a mating circuit board comprises a dielectric housing, a number of contacts received in the housing and shield for enclosing the housing. The retention mechanism comprises a pair of lugs integrally and downwardly extending from the shield. Each lug includes an engaging means forming a pair of barbs thereon and a cutout defined between the pair of barbs for engaging within a corresponding positioning hole defined in the mating circuit board. Each lug has a length substantially equal to a thickness of the mating circuit board so that the retention mechanism will not scrape away solder coated on an inner surface of each positioning hole of the circuit board. Thus, excellent soldering connections between the electrical connector and the mating circuit board are established.
