  • Publication number: 20200383647
Abstract: Systems and methods of evaluating a patient comprise the steps of obtaining temporal data of the patient after an event, monitoring a plurality of patient parameters, compiling patient data based on the temporal data and patient parameters, determining a state or change in state of the patient based on the compiled patient data, and alerting medical staff of the state or change in state.

  • Publication number: 20060122648
Abstract: An automatic external defibrillator including: a sensor for detecting when a rescuer is delivering a CPR chest compression to the patient; electrodes for application to the thorax of the patient for delivering a defibrillation shock to the patient and for detecting an ECG signal; defibrillation circuitry for delivering a defibrillation shock to the electrodes; and a processor and associated memory for executing software that controls operation of the defibrillator. The software provides: ECG analysis for analyzing the ECG signal to determine if the cardiac rhythm is shockable; CPR detection for analyzing the output of the sensor to determine when a CPR chest compression has been delivered, and integration of the ECG analysis and CPR detection so that the determination of whether the cardiac rhythm is shockable is based only on time periods of the ECG signal during which there has not been a CPR chest compression delivered.

  • Publication number: 20050267536
Abstract: A device for assisting a rescuer in delivering therapy to an adult or pediatric patient, the device including a user interface comprising a display and/or audio speakers, the user interface being configured to deliver prompts to a rescuer to assist the rescuer in delivering therapy to a patient; a processor configured to provide prompts to the user interface and to perform an ECG analysis algorithm on ECG information detected from the patient; at least one detection element configured to determine without rescuer input via the user interface that a pediatric patient is being treated; wherein, if a pediatric patient is detected, the processor modifies the ECG analysis algorithm or the prompts provided to the user interface to use an ECG analysis algorithm or prompts adapted for a pediatric patient rather than for an adult patient.

  • Publication number: 20020007114
Abstract: A system for detecting a physiological parameter from a physiological signal, includes a source of the physiological signal. Circuitry, coupled to the signal source, detects spectral peaks in the physiological signal. Calculating circuitry, coupled to the spectral peak detecting circuitry, calculates a parameter value corresponding to each detected spectral peak. Weighting circuitry, coupled to the calculating circuitry and the spectral peak detecting circuit, assigns a weight to each peak according to a feature of a signal and the parameter value corresponding to that peak. Circuitry, coupled to the weighting circuitry, selects the peak according to a predetermined criterion. Output circuitry, coupled to the selecting circuitry and the calculating circuitry, then generates the parameter value corresponding to the selected peak.

  • Patent number: 5971930
Abstract: A heart rate value determined from a first physiological signal that is acquired independently from a second physiological signal, is used to control a band pass filter for controllably bandpass filtering the second physiological signal. In a system having sensors for independently acquiring both electrocardiogram (ECG) and pulse oximetry (SpO2) signals, a heart rate value determined from the ECG signal is used to controllably bandpass filter the red and infrared SpO2 signals, thereby reducing the level of artifact signal in the SpO2 signals.

  • Patent number: 5365933
Abstract: A method and apparatus for distinguishing heart beats from intra-aortic balloon pump beats, and for distinguishing assisted heart beats from unassisted heart beats. The method and apparatus further allows for determining average minimum and maximum pressures of assisted and unassisted heart beats and the average maximum pressures of the balloon pump beats. In general, an embodiment of the invention distinguishes among assisted heart beats, unassisted heart beats, and balloon pump beats by a comparison of areas associated with portions of the arterial pressure waveform representative of each successive beat.
