  • Patent number: 11902770
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for providing three-dimensional (3D) immersive sound is provided. The system includes a loudspeaker and at least one controller. The loudspeaker transmits an audio output signal in a listening environment. The at least one controller is programmed to store a plurality of directional bands with each directional band being defined by a narrowband frequency interval and to store at least psychoacoustic scale including a sub-band for each directional band. The at least one controller is further programmed to determine an energy for the sub-band and generate a loudspeaker driving signal based at least on the energy for the sub-band to drive the loudspeaker to transmit the audio output signal.

  • Publication number: 20230410781
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer-program product embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium that is programmed for performing active vibration cancellation (AVC) in a moving vessel is provided. The computer-program product includes instructions to receive a first signal indicative of vibrations that are exhibited on at least one passenger in a cabin of the moving vessel and to determine a resonant frequency of the vibrations that are exhibited on the at least one passenger based on the first signal. The computer-program product further includes instructions to generate a first anti-wave signal based on the resonant frequency and to drive at least one haptic actuator that is positioned proximate to the at least one passenger in the cabin with the first anti-wave signal to minimize motion sickness for the at least one passenger caused by the vibrations that are exhibited on the at least one passenger in the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20230199419
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, an audio system is provided. The audio system includes a plurality of loudspeaker, a plurality of microphones, and an audio controller. The plurality of loudspeakers transmits an audio signal in a listening environment. The plurality of microphones detects the audio signal in the listening environment. The at least one audio controller is configured to determine a first psychoacoustic perceived loudness (PPL) of the audio signal as the audio signal is played back through a first loudspeaker of the plurality of loudspeakers and to determine a second PPL of the audio signal as the audio signal is sensed by a first microphone of the plurality of microphones. The at least one audio controller is further configured to map the first loudspeaker of the plurality of loudspeakers to the first microphone of the plurality of microphones based at least on the first PPL and the second PPL.

  • Patent number: 9807502
Abstract: Psychoacoustic models may be applied to audio signals being reproduced by an audio speaker to reduce input signal energy applied to the audio transducer. Using the psychoacoustic model, the input signal energy may be reduced in a manner that has little or no discernible effect on the quality of the audio being reproduced by the transducer. The psychoacoustic model selects energy to be reduced from the audio signal based, in part, on human auditory perceptions and/or speaker reproduction capability. The modification of energy levels in audio signals may be used to provide speaker protection functionality. For example, modified audio signals produced through the allocation of compensation coefficients may reduce excursion and displacement in a speaker; control temperature in a speaker; and/or reduce power in a speaker.
