    Abstract: A control circuit for a light emitting element driver having a power converter and a shunt switch connected in parallel with the light emitting element. The control circuit has a first control circuit and a second control circuit. The first control circuit provides a dimming process signal and a shunt control signal based on a dimming signal. The second control circuit receives the dimming process signal and a feedback signal representative of an output current of the power converter. When the shunt control signal is at a first level, the shunt switch is turned on, the second control circuit controls the power converter to work in a normal power operation state or a low power operation state. And when the shunt control signal is at a second level, the shunt switch is turned off, the power converter is controlled to work in the normal power operation state.

The control method is: controlling a first switch of the first voltage regulating circuit operating in quasi-resonant mode, turning ON a second switch of the second voltage regulating circuit after the first switch is turned ON for a half switching period, generating a current sensing signal by detecting a current flowing through the second switch, generating a peak signal, wherein the peak signal is adjusted when a voltage across the second switch is higher than a voltage reference at the time the second switch is turned ON, and turning OFF the second switch when the current sensing signal increases to the peak signal.
