A driver associated with the taxi service is directed to pick up the passenger and transport the passenger to a location specified by the passenger. It is determined that the passenger should be offered an item of merchandise to use temporarily. In response to the passenger accepting the item of merchandise, an update is sent to a data store, the update indicating that the passenger is in possession of the item of merchandise.

Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for a communication system that can be configured to receive a request for a service from a user, communicate to the user details about a specific service provider that will fulfill the requested service, determine a location of the user using a location module, and notify the user when the user is proximate to the specific service provider that will fulfill the requested service. Further, the communication system can be configured to notify the user when the user is not proximate to the specific service provider that will fulfill the requested service. In an example, the specific service provider is a transportation provider.

Abstract: A device, a system, a method and a computer readable medium allowing a user to efficiently and easily add/remove or pair a processing device to a short distance wireless network is provided according to embodiments of the present invention. A user enters a PIN into a device. The device is then automatically paired to another device without any further user intervention to form a short distance wireless network in an embodiment of the present invention. A third party such as a manufacturer, reseller or telecommunication provider enables a processing device to be added to the short distance wireless network by generating a pairing message over the Internet or a SMS in an embodiment of the present invention. A user is able to know when a PIN code is invalid by a device performing error detection in another embodiment of the present invention. In still another embodiment of the present invention, the device also stores an error correction software component for correcting an erroneously inputted PIN.

Embodiments of the invention may enable an advertiser to provide content to existing customers by storing identification information on a customer's computer. The identification information may be obtained by a computer interacting with the user's computer and further used in order to identify the user and provide the user with personalized content. Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, a method for adjusting volume of a mobile device in relationship to environment noise is provided. The method comprises sampling ambient noise around the mobile device to obtain at least one audio sample; measuring volume of the at least one audio sample to determine volume of the ambient noise; increasing the volume of the mobile device, when the volume of the ambient noise is greater than a first threshold value; and decreasing the volume of the mobile device, when the volume of the ambient noise is less than a second threshold value.

A cellular signal is transmitted from the short distance wireless network to a cellular network that indicates the type of the device in the short distance wireless network. The processor and router software component transfers a first plurality of packets between the device and the wide area network using the first wide area network address.
