Each first item comprises encoded sequence(s) and/or item(s) of sequence metadata, and is associated with item(s) of identification information. (b) store, in first storage location(s), the set. (c) store, in a mapping storage, a mapping between the item(s) of identification information and the corresponding first item. (d) store, in second storage location(s), the item(s) of identification information, associated with individual instance(s) of an organism. The first and second storage locations are not identical. This facilitates a reconstruction, by a data-retrieval system, of at least a portion of an individual-specific instance of the set. The instance comprises a sub-set of the plurality of first items. This facilitates an enhanced level of security of the individual-specific instance of the set of genomic data.
