  • Patent number: 10218209
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for selecting a charging mode from among the set of charging modes supported by a charging device for charging a battery of a portable device. The method includes detecting a coupling of a charging device and the portable device. In response to detecting the coupling, a set of charging modes supported by the charging device is determined. The method further includes identifying whether the set of charging modes includes a particular charging mode. In response to identifying the charging device supports the particular charging mode, a first notification is issued to the charging device to trigger the charging device to operate in the particular charging mode. In response to identifying the charging device does not support the particular charging mode, an alternate charging mode is selected from among the set of charging modes.

  • Patent number: 9107131
Abstract: A system and method is provided to manage wireless network mobility and wireless network resources. In one aspect of the invention, network equipment acquires samples associated with time that past user devices stayed in the coverage range of the network equipment and estimates a time that a user device currently stays in the cell based on the acquired samples. In another aspect, pre-authentication and pre-registration of the user device in another network are performed based on the estimated time. In yet another aspect, network resources reserved for the user device are released based on the estimated time.

  • Publication number: 20100250135
Abstract: A method and device enables an efficient determination of a proximity of a social network service acquaintance. The method includes transmitting an inquiry message from the electronic device during a device proximity discovery process (step 405). An inquiry response message is then received in response to the inquiry message, where the inquiry response message includes a received social network service identifier associated with the social network service acquaintance (step 410). Next, a proximity of the social network service acquaintance is determined by matching the received social network service identifier with a stored social network service identifier (step 415). An output is then provided at the electronic device in response to matching the received social network service identifier (step 420).

  • Publication number: 20080294893
Abstract: A security reconfigurable device is adapted for use in an integrated wireless network integrating at least two wireless networks, and includes a plurality of security modules and a control unit. The security modules are used to respectively realize security mechanisms related to the wireless networks. According to security requirements, the control unit selects one of the security modules for operation. The security reconfigurable device can reduce time and cost for updating the security mechanisms. A method for security reconfiguration is also disclosed.
