  • Publication number: 20080132177
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for a flexible automatic frequency control (AFC) design supporting transmit diversity are presented. Aspects of the system may include one or more circuits that enable computation of at least one frequency error value based on one or more previous computed frequency error values, current received symbols, and/or corresponding previously received symbols. A weighted sum may be computed from a plurality of computed frequency error values. A current demodulation frequency may be adjusted based on the computed weighted sum. The adjusted demodulation frequency may be utilized for receiving one or more subsequent symbols.

  • Publication number: 20080132190
Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for delay matching in a rake receiver are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include compensating for a delay associated with at least one or both of the following in a rake receiver: a control channel and a data channel, prior to individual processing of received data by the data channel and individual processing of received data by the control channel. The data channel or the dedicated physical channel (DPCH) may be delayed with respect to the control channel, which may comprise, for example, the common pilot control channel (CPICH), by a particular time period.

  • Publication number: 20070243839
Abstract: The invention provides a new method and system for low complexity, low cost, small component size, and low power communications. The system provides a digital sub-sampling receiver for multiple-antenna wireless receivers, with reduced number of analog RF/IF chains (or one chain) after a fixed number of receive antennas. The system provides a generator of transmit signals/sequences which are preconditioned by the operation of the system to compensate for spectral effects of ultra-low-rate sub-sampling, in that sequences preserve orthogonality under spectral repetition, spectral translation and spectral inversion. The system provides a management device to provide adaptation in transmit signals/waveforms/patterns as a function of channel and data source variations, such that communication data rates and capacities are maximized. The system can efficiently operate in multi-user multi-channel communication systems.

  • Publication number: 20070165703
Abstract: There is provided a method for generating an error signal for an automatic frequency control (AFC) loop in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system. Sign information relating to phase differences in received pilot signals is accumulated. In one embodiment, the accumulated sign information is compared against predetermined threshold levels. The error signal is generated when at least one of the predetermined threshold levels is satisfied. In a second embodiment, the accumulated sign information is decimated. An output of the decimating step is utilized as the error signal for the AFC loop.

  • Publication number: 20070081579
Abstract: A code-tracking system includes a loop filter, which receives an early/late error signal and outputs a loop filter error signal. An error scaling device receives the loop filter error representing an update and provides a code tracking adjustment signal. A controller monitors a frequency of updates and/or a number of same direction updates and provides a filter coefficient in accordance with the frequency of updates and/or the number of same direction updates.

  • Publication number: 20070030819
Abstract: A method for controlling bandwidth allocation of first and second data packet types (e.g. TCP traffic, real time traffic, VOIP traffic) in a single rate network by determining, by a device, a throughput rate of the first data packet type (e.g. TCP traffic, non-real time traffic, . . . ) in the network and reducing, by the device, the throughput rate of the first data packet type when the throughput rate reaches a predetermined level is described.

  • Publication number: 20060209756
Abstract: An efficient method for providing both dedicated and simulcast services over a common wireless infrastructure is described. The services can be available to a single terminal as well as to a multiplicity of terminals simultaneously. The method uses time division multiplexing and orthogonal frequency division multiple access for simulcasting information and transmitting dedicated message information from a plurality of base stations forming a cellular pattern over the same wireless frequency channel. The method comprises the steps of constructing frames for transmission by the plurality of base stations comprising control information, simulcast information and dedicated message information within predetermined time slots of the frames and allocating the simulcast information and the dedicated message information to time slots of the same frame predetermined by the control information of the frame. The underlying modulation technology used is OFDM and thereby the channel delay-dispersion is minimized.

  • Patent number: 6826409
Abstract: Proposed is a method for reducing interference in a frequency hopping wireless communications system. In one embodiment of the present invention, a base station and a terminal station each using an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique to simultaneously measure an interference level for each system frequency and to enable high speed frequency hop pattern changes which can follow changes in desired and interfering signal levels due to changes in co-channel interference or shadow fading. The terminal station interference level measurement values are then transmitted to the base station. Next, the base station identifies each frequency hop pattern currently in use by each terminal station communicating with that base station.

  • Publication number: 20030139197
Abstract: A network having distribution of access point loading includes access points to which mobile stations can associate themselves based upon access point beacon signal levels and loading levels for the various access points. A mobile station receives beacon signals from various access points and determines a signal strength for the received beacon signals. The mobile station also receives access point loading information from the access points. The mobile station associates with an access point based upon the access point beacon signal strengths and the access point loading information.

  • Publication number: 20030134642
Abstract: A network includes access points that admit/terminate mobile station associations based upon the loading level of the access point and/or whether a mobile station can associate with a further access point. Mobile stations transmit information indicative of the access points to which they can associate. The access points determine whether to admit/terminate a mobile station association based upon access point loading.
