  • Patent number: 7181136
Abstract: An apparatus for providing left and right eye images along the axis of a single camera lens (7), the apparatus comprising optical means arranged to provide said left and right eye images (22, 20) as a pair of head-to-head or toe-to-toe images, i.e. with the two images (20, 22) separated by a center line and with either the tops of the two images (20, 22) or the bottoms of the two images (20, 22) adjacent the center line, so that the left and right eye images (22, 20) can be simultaneously recorded onto a single frame of a photographic film or other recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6721500
Abstract: An apparatus 1 provides left and right eye images to a conventional camera lens 7 such that the images are recorded by the camera 3 as head-to-head images. The apparatus 1 includes left and right plane mirrors 11, 12 that direct light rays from the left and right images onto respective faces of a triangular prism 9, the triangular prism directing the light rays to the camera lens 7. Alternatively, the apparatus may be incorporated within a camera lens, being located between the front and rear lens group of the camera lens. The plane mirrors 11, 12 can be moved along their image axes, effectively adjusting the interocular distance of the apparatus. The angle which the plane mirrors 11, 12 subtend to each other and to the triangular prism 9 may also be adjusted, thus adjusting the convergence of angle of view of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5029980
Abstract: A home viewing device comprising a casing for positioning in front of a screen for receiving separate left and right eye images. The viewing device is arranged to display said images on separate left and right eye axes by means of a first fully reflective surface inclined to the axis of the first eye image and for reflecting the image onto a second fully reflective surface for reflecting the first eye image along the viewing axis, and a third fully reflective surface inclined to the axis of the second eye image for reflecting that image onto a semireflective surface for reflecting the second eye image along the viewing axis. Different polarizing means are positioned in the paths of the first and second eye images so that the images are differently polarized whereby a viewer with correspondingly polarized glasses can discern the different images to obtain a three-dimensional effect.

  • Patent number: 4678298
Abstract: An apparatus for three-dimensional photography provides left and right eye images alternately along the lens axis of a camera for recording alternately on a film strip. The left and right eye images are received along spaced first and second axes separated by a distance substantially consistent with the interocular distance of natural eyes, and are resolved alternately along the lens axis of the camera. Lens assemblies are provided for each eye image to provide a horizontal spread of between 40.degree. and 60.degree. which substantially matches the natural horizontal field of vision. The convergence of the first and second axes is adjustable. The camera may be provided with a viewfinder in which the left and right eye images are separated out again.

  • Patent number: 4609253
Abstract: A dual screen filming apparatus has a fully reflective mirror positioned in the optical path of part of a projected image at an angle of 45.degree.. The mirror reflects the part of the projected image onto a first front projection screen set at 90.degree. to the path of the reflected image. The mirror also has a non-reflecting portion which lies in the path of the remainder of the projected image and is arranged to allow the light to pass therethrough without reflection onto a second front projection screen. The light reflected from the first and second screens is collected by a semi-reflective mirror, positioned intermediate the projector, and the fully reflective mirror and is directed into the lens of a camera to provide a composite image.

  • Patent number: 4353493
Abstract: A film advance mechanism is provided in which film is advanced stepwise by two reciprocal film-engagement pins (20). The pins (20) are mounted on a cam follower (10) and the pins and cam follower are arranged to rotate relative to a circular cam (12). The surface profile of the cam (12) moves the pins (20) into engagement with the film during about 60.degree. every revolution thereby allowing the film to be stationary for about 300.degree.. Two reciprocal location pins (33) are also provided which are synchronized with the film-engagement pins and are arranged to engage the film only when the film is stationary.

  • Patent number: 4318605
Abstract: A stand for photographic apparatus for use in filming has a main frame rotatable about a first verticle axis, and a circular support mounted on the frame for rotation about a second horizontal, diametric axis. The circular support includes an inner and an outer ring, one ring being rotatable relative to the other about a third axis through the center of the circular support: the three axes being perpendicular to one another. The circular support carries, a camera mounting on one side arranged so that a camera will be positioned with its lens axis along the third axis, and a projector mounting on the other side of the circular support arranged so that a projector's projection axis is positioned perpendicular to the lens axis.
