Abstract: A sorting system for sorting flat objects, particularly mail items, and a method for sorting such objects. The sorting system has a discharge device and an arrangement having at least two output devices. The output devices are arranged one behind the other as viewed in a longitudinal axis. The discharge device is designed to discharge each flat object to be sorted into one of the output devices in each case in such a way that the objects discharged into the same output device form a stack. Each output device has a bottom. The bottom of each output device rises with respect to the horizontal as viewed in a rising direction. An edge appears between the bottoms of two adjacent output devices. The edge slopes downward vertically or aslant as viewed in the rising direction.

Abstract: A method and an installation for sorting flat articles, in particular flat items of mail, discharges each article to be sorted, in dependence on a respectively measured feature value, into an output device. A resulting stack is moved onto a transporting configuration with planes of the articles of the stack perpendicular to a first transporting direction. The transporting configuration transports the stack toward a processing device. The transporting configuration transports the stack initially in the first transporting direction. Following transportation in the first transporting direction, the transporting configuration rotates the stack around a curve from the first transporting direction into a second transporting direction. The transporting configuration then transports the stack toward the processing device in the second transporting direction.

Abstract: A urinary catheter and method of its use for measuring the internal pressure of a human or other mammal. The catheter includes three lumens, or channels. The first lumen is dedicated to draining urine, the second lumen is dedicated to a retention balloon, and the third lumen is available for connection to a pressure transducer. In use, the catheter is installed in a patient, the third lumen is filled with a pressure transmitting medium, connected to a pressure sensor, and the patient's intra-abdominal pressure is monitored without interruption of the urine flow.

Abstract: A urinary catheter apparatus for measuring the internal pressure of a human or other mammal comprising an elongated urinary catheter having at least two lumen extending longitudinally there-through, at least one channel where the wall is composed of a material being substantially impermeable to liquid, where the interior of the catheter allows the transmission of change of pressure through lumen via a pressure transmitting medium, and pressure sensor means for measuring the pressure of pressure transmitting medium.
