Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems and methods for the automatic packaging and deployment of virtual machines in a virtual environment. More particularly, the disclosure involves a system that automatically packages two virtual machines, a console virtual machine and a template virtual machine, in a virtual application. The template virtual machine initiates communication with the console virtual machine to generate multiple virtual machine instances.

Abstract: A computing infrastructure management system includes a processing system and a memory for storing a configuration management client, which is executed by the processing system to receive a manifest file associated with a computing infrastructure comprising a plurality of computing devices each having one or more resources. Using the received manifest file, the client translates the manifest file by arranging one or more directives of the manifest file according to one or more dependencies of each resource relative to the resources of the other computing devices, and provisions the resources of each computing device using the translated manifest file.

Abstract: A method, system and computer readable media for managing virtual appliances are provided. The method includes discovering each of a plurality of components of an enterprise solution, the enterprise solution encompassing a plurality of virtual appliances and relationships among the plurality of virtual appliances. Each of the plurality of virtual appliances has one or more virtual machines, and the plurality of virtual appliances are implemented in a physical computing environment. The method includes reconfiguring the plurality of components in response to a change in a configuration of one or more of the plurality of components.

Abstract: A method, system and computer readable media for deploying a virtual appliance are provided. The method includes receiving values of input parameters of a configuration file of a virtual appliance. The method includes for one of the values, determining, prior to activating the virtual appliance, whether the one of the values is in compliance with a configuration of one or more appliances. The method includes deploying the virtual appliance into the one or more appliances. In response to determining that the one of the values is in compliance, the method includes configuring the virtual appliance in accordance with the one of the values, wherein the determining is executed through a processor.

In addition to a snapshot agent that executes within a given VM instance, another embodiment provides a user with network access to a portal snapshot management interface, e.g., via a web application. The web application can present the list of VM instances, and snapshots for each such VM instance, owned by an authenticated user. The user can then interact with the web application to create a new snapshot for (or revert to) an existing snapshot for the owned VM instances.
