Patent number: 8741315Abstract: A method of treating cancer in an immune-privileged site of a subject in need thereof is provided. The method comprises systemically administering to an area outside the immune-privileged site of the subject, a therapeutically effective amount of naive, viable cells of a tumor of the subject, the tumor being in the immune-privileged site so as to generate an immune response in the subject, thereby treating the cancer in the immune-privileged site of the subject.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2008Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignees: Yeda Research and Development Co. Ltd., The Medical Research, Infrastructure and Health Services Fund of the Tel Aviv Medical CenterInventors: Ilan Volovitz, Lea Eisenbach, Irun R. Cohen, Zvi Ram, Shimon Slavin

Patent number: 8391959Abstract: Method and composition suitable for administering by direct convective interstitial infusion are disclosed. The method comprises: placing at least one direct convective interstitial infusion catheter in contact with the tissue, and pressuring the composition through the catheter. The composition is in a liquefied form having a viscosity above a predetermined value. The predetermined value is selected so as to improve infusion of the compositions into interstitial volumes of the tissue, while minimizing backflow of the compositions along an outer wall of the catheter or leakage into low resistance paths. It is demonstrated that high viscosity results in higher treatment efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2005Date of Patent: March 5, 2013Assignees: Tel HaShomer Medical Research Infrastructure and Services Ltd., Medical Research Fund of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical CenterInventors: Yael Mardor, Zvi Ram

Publication number: 20110098554Abstract: A method for determining a response of a tissue to a destructive treatment is disclosed. The method comprises providing magnetic resonance images of the tissue, and using the magnetic resonance images for determining the response of the tissue to the destructive treatment. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring convection during direct convective interstitial infusion using a pharmaceutical composition which comprises a therapeutic agent and an MRI contrast agent.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2005Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicants: Tel HaShomer Medical Research Infrastructure and Services Ltd., Medical Research Fund of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical CenterInventors: Yael Mardor, Zvi Ram

Patent number: 6669935Abstract: A process for treating a disease or disorder of a host by delivery of a therapeutic agent to the brain of the host, which comprises transducing endothelial cells of blood vessels located in the brain of a host in vivo with a vector including a polynucleotide encoding a therapeutic agent. The vector is administered intravascularly to the host, and the vector produces the therapeutic agent in the endothelial cells.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1998Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignees: The United States of America as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services, Genetic Therapy, Inc.Inventors: Edward H.
