Providing a plumbing kit of parts and utilizing them to provide an outside hot water source of a dwelling, interconnected to a nearby existing outside cold water source, creating an outside controllable temperature and controllable flow of outside water

A plumbing kit of parts, with some tools, is provided, so a person may himself or herself directly, or hire a plumber to assist or to do the job, of providing outside of a dwelling, generally a residence, an outside hot water source interconnected to a nearby existing outside cold water source, thereby creating an outside controllable temperature and controllable flow of outside available water, used for examples during bathing of pets, and cleaning vehicles.

CROSS REFERENCE

[0001] A Provisional Application Ser. No. 60/203,702, was filed on May 11, 2000, with the same title, by the same Applicant, and the priority thereof is hereby claimed.

BACKGROUND

[0002] There are many uses for hot water outside a dwelling. And while there are some inventions that incorporate the usage of hot water outside, they do not provide a simple, convenient, or practical method of getting the hot water to the exterior wall of a dwelling. The hot outside water kit provides the parts and some tools for an average homeowner to accomplish the plumbing to achieve hot water outside in an economical, practical manner with basic hand tools, with or without a professional plumber.

SUMMARY

[0003] It is the objective of the present invention to provide a homeowner with the essential parts and some tools to install the plumbing required to have hot water outside the building with temperature and flow control. The kit of the present invention includes a T coupling and associated fittings, a fifty-foot length of tubing made of an aluminum tube bonded between interior and exterior layers of plastic. An exterior faucet to be used for hot water and a Y coupling with one outlet. Two lengths of flexible tubing and associated fitting are provided for connecting the inlet branches of the Y coupling to the hot water faucet and the cold-water faucet, respectively. The Y coupling provides a second set of valves to control flow to the outlet of the Y coupling. The temperature of the water and flow can be determined before connecting the water hose to the Y coupling. The two valves on the Y coupling can then be used to stop flow until the water hose is connected to the Y coupling. The two valves of the Y coupling are then opened allowing the pre-determined temperature and flow to resume through the outlet of the Y coupling. The tools included in the present invention are a pipe cutting tool and one flaring tool.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DESCRIPTIONS Of THE RESPECTIVE EMBODIMENTS

[0023] Very often the residents of a dwelling needs an outside source for warm or hot water to accomplish a cleaning task or bathe an animal, however, the dwelling, as originally constructed, has no outside source of warm or hot water. Therefore, this kit is provided so the resident, himself or herself, with or without help, or hiring a plumber, has all the components and some tools to conveniently complete the installation of this dwelling plumbing system, providing outside controllable temperature and controllable flow of outside available water.

[0025] An Embodiment of the Kit and Resulting Installation Utilizing Currently Available Components

[0026] As representable of how this hot outside water may be provided, an installation 10, is illustrated in FIG. 1, showing the overall system 10 and the connections thereof, to an existing portion 12 of a cold water system 14, and to the hot water tank 16 of the dwelling 18. When the installation is completed the resident is able to controllably obtain the quantity of flow at the selected temperature outside the home. Often a garden hose 20 and nozzle 22 are connected to the overall system 10.

[0027] Using components, available in the kit the outside subassembly 24, appears as illustrated in FIG. 2. Extending out from the wall 26 of the dwelling 18 on the right side is the existing cold water valve 28 of the existing cold water system 14. Extending out from the wall 26 on the left side is the new hot water valve 30. These valves 28 and 30 are referred to as faucets or sill cocks. The hot water valve 30 can be installed on either side of the cold water valve 28 of cold water system 14 extending from the wall 26.

[0028] Depending from each of cold water and hot water valves, 28, 30 are respective hose savers 32, which are an available product 32, combining a hose portion 34, a female end portion 36 and a male end portion 38, both secured to the hose portion 34, and a coiled spring 40 surrounding the hose portion 34 and extending between the female and male end portions 36 and 38. The coil spring 40 keeps the hose portion 34 from becoming kinked and also adds to its overall handling and positioning structural strength.

[0029] At the depending male ends 38 FIG. 3 at the opposite ends of the hose savers 32 from where the female ends 36, are threaded onto the respective hot and cold water valves 30, 28, hose swivels 42, with respective female ends 44, are used in joining the hose savers 32 to a double hose connector 46.

[0030] Preferably, the double hose connector 46, is integrally made with two respective valves 48, 50, to serve in adjusting the flow of the respective flows of hot and cold water. This is the second set, more frequently used set of valves. The first set is comprised of the existing cold water valve 28 and the new hot water valve 30.

[0031] A male hose adapter 52, having respective threaded male ends 54 is used in subsequently joining a garden hose 20 to the female threaded end 56 of the double hose connector 46, when a garden hose 20 and nozzle 22 are connected to the overall system 10 and are ready for the convenient use by a resident of the dwelling 18.

[0032] During the Utilization of the Components of the Kit in Installing the Overall System to Provide the Outdoor Controllable Temperature and Flow of Hot or Warm Water, Portions Often are Pre-assembled to Serve, in Effect, as a Measuring Sub Assembly, to Pre Determine the Location of the Location of the to be Installed Outside Hot Water Valve.

[0033] Preferably, the person installing the overall system 10, will pre-assemble most of the outside components, as shown in FIG. 2, and then secure them to the existing outside cold water valve 28. As so pre-assembled, he or she then arranges them, as a hand manipulated unit 58, to determine the prospective location of where the new hot water valve 30 is to be installed in the wall 26 of the dwelling 18. This hand manipulated unit 58, in determining the location for the mounting of the hot water valve 30 to the wall 26 of the dwelling 18.

[0034] Many of the components of this pre-assembly of the hand manipulated unit 58, also called the measuring sub assembly 58, are shown, before assembly in FIG. 3.

[0035] An Embodiment Modified to Used Hose Portions In lieu of Hose Savers

[0036] If hose savers 32 are not available or a person desires not to use them, then hose portions 34 only will be used without a respective coiled spring 40, as illustrated in FIG. 4.

[0037] An Embodiment Modified to use Hose Portions In lieu of Hose Savers, and to Use a Double Hose Connector, Which Does Not Have Integral Valves

[0038] In addition to not using hose savers 32 and instead using just hose portions 34, a person may also decide to utilize a double hose connector 46, which does not have integral valves 48, 50 for the second set of valves used in regulating the flows of hot and cold water in FIG. 5. Such a person will then only make the adjustments of the respective flows of hot and cold water by using the outside cold and water valves 28, 30, mounted on the wall 26 of the dwelling 18 to arrive at the desired quantity and temperature of the outside available water flow.

[0039] An Embodiment to be Prepared if in the Future a Modified Hose Savers Would be Available.

[0040] If hose savers 32 could be made available in the future having female ends 36 at both ends, then a preferred embodiment resulting from the utilization of the kit components, in respect to the outside subassembly 24 would appear, before assembly, as illustrated in FIG. 6. The hose swivels 42 would not be necessary.

[0041] During the Overall Assembly of the Overall System the Hot Water Line is Preferably Made from Kitec Pipe and Kitec Tools are Used.

[0042] If hose saver 32 could be made available in the future having female ends 36 at both ends, then a preferred embodiment resulting from the utilization of the kit components, in respect to the outside subassembly 24 would appear, before assembly, as illustrated in FIG. 6. The hose swivels 42 would not be necessary.

[0044] As illustrated in FIG. 1, the inside hot water line 60 is not too long in extending from the hot water tank 16 to the new hot water valve 30 installed in the wall 26 of the dwelling 18.

[0046] Therefore, fifty feet of Ketec pipe is furnished in the Kit, not illustrated.

[0047] Kitec Pipe, or an equivalently constructed pipe, is preferred. As illustrated in FIGS. 7 and 8, this Kitec pipe is made of three concentric pipe portions. The outer and inside portions 62, 64, are made of resilient and flexible non-metallic portions. Between them is a thin walled metallic pipe 66, which is also flexible.

[0048] The resulting Kitic Pipe is coilable for fitting into the kit and its subsequent handling. When it is installed within a dwelling 18 as the hot water line 60 it is conveniently directed and installed during its extension between the hot water tank 16 and the outside hot water valve 30.

[0049] In the kit is a Kitec pipe cutter, not illustrated, and a Kitec pipe-flaring tool 68, which is illustrated in FIG. 7. After a cut is made in the Kitec pipe, the Kitec pipe flaring tool 68 is used to reform the Kitec Pipe end to its circular form and to flare its end for making better connections to the receiving members, respectively, of the hot water tank 16 and the outside hot water valve 30.

[0050] An Embodiment Modified to Use a Frost Free Hose Bib In lieu of Hot Water Valve.

[0051] If a dwelling requires by any building code a frost-free hose bib 70. The frost free hose bib 70 will be used in lieu of hot water valve 30, as illustrated in FIG. 9.

[0052] By Utilizing the Components of the Kit the Resident of a Dwelling Gains the Convenience of an Outside Source of a Controllable Temperature and Controllable Flow of Water.

[0053] The providing of the kit as packaged, not illustrated, the resident is provided with the needed components, without his or her time consuming procurement of all the components and not requiring extensive plumbing skills, or special tools. Then he or she is conveniently able to install the overall system 10. Also included are several Kitec fasteners, i.e. talons, furnished, pr-nailed, to be used in securing the Kitec Pipe, serving as the inside hot water line 60, to the structure of the dwelling 18.

[0054] At the completion of the installation, the resident is then able to conveniently use this overall system 10 to provide an outside source for controllable temperature and controllable flow of water, for examples, to bathe animals and to clean vehicles.

Claims

1. A hot outside water kit that enables a person, such as a home resident, or a building occupant, or any person in reference to any dwelling, to use this kit to personally, or to have a plumber work with him or her, or to have the plumber by himself or herself, install on an exterior wall of a dwelling, a hot water faucet in a location adjacent to an existing cold water faucet, and arrange for two flexible hose portions to be extended from the respective faucets and to be connected to respective inlets of a double hose connector, having one outlet opening, which opening is eventually connected at selective times to a hose used in delivering a controllable temperature and controllable flow of water to a location outside of a dwelling, comprising:

a) water faucet adapted for securement to a structure of a dwelling to receive hot water coming from an interior of a dwelling to be regulated by the operation of this faucet for supplying hot water on demand at an exterior of a dwelling;
b) a flexible hose to be connected at one end to the water faucet adapted to the connected to receive hot water coming from an interior of a dwelling;
c) a flexible hose to be connected at one end to a water faucet already secured to a structure of a dwelling to receive cold water coming from an interior of a dwelling;
d) a double hose connector adapted to be connected at the respective inlets thereof to the respective flexible hoses at the other respective ends thereof, and having the outlet opening thereof available to be eventually connected at selective times to a hose used in delivering controllable temperature and controllable flow of water to a location outside of a dwelling.

2. A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 1, comprising, in addition, a water conduit to be extended between an exterior source of hot water in an interior of a dwelling and the water faucet adapted for securement to a structure of a dwelling to receive hot water coming from an interior of a dwelling.

3. A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 2, wherein the water conduit is a flexible tubing constructed of an aluminum tube, laminated between tow layers of cross linked polyethylene.

4. A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 1, wherein each flexible hose to be respectively connected between respective water faucets and the double hose connector are respective rubber tubes each having a respective metal coil support.

A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 1, wherein respective valves are initially incorporated into the double hose connector, providing, by operating these respective valves, additional controls during the supplying of hot and cold water when mixed, for passing through the outlet of the double hose connector and beyond into a hose at selectable times of use.

A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 4, wherein respective valves are initially incorporated into the double hose connector, providing, by operating these respective valves, additional controls during the supply of hot and cold water, when mixed, for passing through the outlet of this double hose connector and beyond into a hose at selectable times of use.

7. A hot outside water kit, as claimed in 4, comprising, in addition a water conduit to be extended between an interior source of hot water in an interior of a dwelling and the water faucet adapted for securement to a structure of a dwelling to receive hot water coming form an interior of a dwelling.

8. A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 7, wherein the water conduit is flexible tubing constructed of an aluminum tube, laminated between two layers of cross-linked polyethylene.

A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 8, wherein respective valves are initially incorporated into the double hose connector, providing, by operating these respective valves, additional controls during the supplying of hot and cold water, when mixed, for passing through the outlet of this double hose connector and beyond into a hose at selectable times of use.

A hot outside water kit, as claimed in claim 7, wherein respective valves are initially incorporated into the double hose connector, providing, by operating these respective valves, additional controls during the supplying of hot and cold water, when mixed, for passing through the outlet of this double hose connector and beyond into a hose at selectable times of use.

11. A hot water outside water kit, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the water faucet to receive hot water is a frost-free hose bib.

A hot outside water kit, as claimed in 1, wherein the water faucet to receive hot water, the two flexible hose, and the double hose connectors are capable of being pre-assembled and utilized as an overall gage to measure and to there by locate the positioning of this water faucet to receive hot water in a conveniently spaced location relative to an existing cold water faucet before the water faucet is to receive hot water secured to a structure of a dwelling.

A hot outside water kit as claimed in 1, that enables a consumer to plumb, substantially permanently positioned hot water piping with a hot water faucet adjacent to an existing cold water faucet to the exterior wall of a house or building, wherein said hot water kit is inter-connected to an existing hot water system and cold water system providing controllable temperature and flow of hot water outside the exterior wall of a house or building, utilizing and comprised of a flexible tubing constructed of an aluminum tube laminated between two layers of cross-linked polyethylene, or an equivalently constructed pipe, a metal “T” coupling, a plastic “Y” coupling equipped with at least one outlet opening and flow control valves, flex-connectors constructed of rubber tubing and metal coil support, a conventional and/or frost free hot water faucet, each operatively connected to provide a means of measuring and locating on the exterior wall where to make an opening for the flexible tubing to exit through an exterior wall, pipe flaring and cutting tools for assembling the kit.

A hot outside water kit as claimed in 1, The construction of the hot outside water kit consisting of the combination of parts made of metal, polyethylene, rubber and plastic to substantiate the integrity of operation upon complete installation, the assembly of the hot water faucet, the two hose-savers, the “Y” connector, attached to the existing cold water faucet to serve as a measuring tool, to determine and mark the location on an exterior wall for creating the opening for the flexible tubing to exit the exterior wall.

A hot outside water kit as claimed in 1, utilizing a non-oxygen permeable, flexible tubing with potable water specifications to plumb from an existing hot water source to an exterior wall adjacent to the existing cold water faucet, to deliver hot water to the exterior wall, where the parts described on claim 1 will then be operatively connected and attached to the flexible tubing.
