Fastening device for fastening roof components to a connecting area of two adjacent roof sections of an aluminum roof, and fastening device comprises a mounting part for mounting the roof components and two clamps lying opposite one another, connected to the mounting part, and able to be moved from a first position in which fastening device can be placed on connecting area into a second position in which clamps, in the position in which fastening device is placed on connecting area, receiving connecting area between them, are pressed on the latter and/or engage in a part of connecting area so that fastening device is fastened on connecting area, and at least one of clamps on their side facing mounting part has at least two sections of which outer section facing away from other clamp, in the first position of clamps, is tightly in contact at least partially with mounting part, in contrast to which the at least second section, in the first position of clamps, at least partially does not lie in contact with mounting part and clamps are transitioned into the second position by having at least a second section of at least one of clamps moved toward mounting part.

[0001] This invention relates to a fastening device for fastening roof components to a connecting area of two adjacent roof sections of an aluminum roof, in which the fastening device comprises a mounting part for mounting roof components and two clamps, connected to the mounting part and lying opposite one another, and the clamps can be moved out of a first position, in which the fastening device can be placed on a part of the connecting area, into a second position opposite one another in which the clamps, in the state in which they are placed on the connecting area and hold the part of the connecting area between them, are pressed on the latter and/or grip it from behind so that the fastening device is fastened on the connecting area.

[0002] A fastening device of the above-mentioned type is known, for example, from the KAL-ZIP assembly instructions of the firm Hoogovens Aluminum Bausysteme [construction systems] in Koblenz from the year 1998. The above-mentioned connecting areas of two sections of the aluminum roof are made by having the barlike ends of these sections that project outward from the roof connected by interlocking flanges so that interlocking beadlike parts are produced on the end of the barlike, outward projecting, connecting areas. The fastening devices from the prior art according to the above-mentioned assembly instructions, for example according to page 45 of these assembly instructions, have two clamps that comprise working surfaces shaped like hollow cylinder segments on their ends facing the connecting area. The clamps can be secured to one another above the connecting area with screw means and the screw means grasp through the clamps parallel to the surface of the roof in the connecting direction. On the top side of the fastening device facing away from the roof, according to the prior art, a bent plate made as a mounting part is provided on one of the clamps, and fastening means for roof components such as, for example, running slats or the like, are provided on the plate. In this way, any roof components can be mounted on the roof with the fastening device after its fastening to the connecting area of the roof sections. But a drawback to this prior art turns out to be, on the one hand, that the clamps, which are not connected to one another or only loosely so, can be positioned only with difficulty with one hand during their placement on the connecting area so that, with the other hand, the screw means, which are made for example as a screw and nut, can be tightened. Further, there are no movement limiting means in the fastening devices according to the prior art, so that too much tightening of the above-mentioned screw means can damage the connecting area of the sections of the aluminum roof.

[0003] The problem on which this invention is based is creating a fastening means of the above-mentioned type that can be mounted and fastened more simply to the connecting area of two roof sections.

[0004] This is achieved according to the invention in that at least one of the clamps has at least two sections on its side facing the mounting part of which the outer section facing away from the other clamp is at least partially secured in contact with the mounting part in the first position of the clamps, in contrast to which the at least second section at least partially does not lie in contact with the mounting part in the first position of the clamps, and the clamps can transition into the second position by having the at least second section of at least one of the clamps move toward the mounting part. The solution according to the invention achieves the ability to premount the clamps on the mounting part already on the working side, and they can be premounted so that the clamps can be mounted loosely on the connecting area, in particular snapped or latched on. After this mounting, then the center section of one or both clamps is moved in the direction of the mounting part so that in doing so a securing of the fastening device to the connecting area of the roof sections is achieved. In particular because of the fact that the premounting of the clamps on the working side makes it possible for the fastening device to be snapped or latched without a problem onto the connecting area, a simpler assembly results.

[0005] According to a preferred embodiment of this invention, each of the clamps has in each case two sections and, by moving the section facing the adjacent clamp respectively in the direction of the mounting part, the clamps can be transitioned into the second position. Advantageously here both outer sections of the side of the clamps facing the mounting part are secured at least partially lying in contact with the mounting part. In this way, the fastening device can be brought already on the working side into a position suitable for being snapped or latched onto the connecting area so that the assembly is made considerably easier. The user of the fastening device according to the invention needs only to press the latter from above with both clamps on the connecting area and then to securely clamp the fastening devices onto the connecting area by moving the center sections of the clamps in the direction of the mounting part.

[0006] This can be done preferably by making the inner section(s) of the clamps movable in the direction of the mounting part by screw means. For this purpose it proves to be especially advantageous if the screw means comprise a nut made as a square nut that is mounted between both clamps so as not to twist in either the first or the second position of the clamps, and the screw means further comprise a screw that is accessible from the side of the mounting part facing away from the clamps and can be screwed into the nut for the transition of the clamps from the first to the second position. After the fastening device is latched onto the connecting area, the user of the fastening device according to the invention then needs simply to tighten the screw from above, for example with a battery-powered screwdriver, until the clamps grasp around the flanged part of the connecting area so that they are secured.

[0007] According to a preferred embodiment of this invention, both sections of the sides of the clamps facing the mounting part are made flat and together enclose an angle so that in the first position of the clamps, the respective outer section of both clamps is at least partially in contact with corresponding surfaces of the mounting part and the respective inner section facing the adjacent clamp projects away from the connecting area with the outer section, starting from the mounting part. The angle between these two sections can be, for example, between 2° and 20°, preferably between 4° and 10°, in particular 6°. The angle enclosed between the two sections makes it possible that, despite the contact of the outer area of the sides of the clamps facing the mounting part, the center sections facing each other of the sides of the clamps facing the mounting part are not in contact with the mounting part, so that there is still enough play for fastening the clamps or moving them toward one another with the above-mentioned screw means.

[0008] The above-mentioned moving of the clamps toward one another depending on the movement of the inner sections of the sides of the clamps facing the mounting part can be achieved by having the clamps be made essentially L-shaped, with a leg that has both sections that are at least partially in contact with the mounting part and with one leg that projects away from the latter and the mounting part essentially in a perpendicular direction and has, in its end area, working surfaces for holding the part of the connecting area of the aluminum roof. By moving the sections of the clamps that are facing each other in the first position and are not in contact with the mounting part toward the mounting part, the legs of the clamps carrying the working surfaces are moved toward one another until the flanged part of the connecting area is secured by the clamps.

[0009] For this purpose, the working surfaces can have the form of a hollow cylinder segment and the inner sides of these hollow cylinder segments face one another and can receive the flanged part of the connecting area between them. In this way, the working surfaces are essentially matched to the shape of the flanged part of the connecting area.

[0010] Advantageously, movement limiting projections facing one another are placed on the leg of the clamps projecting away from the mounting part, between the mounting part and the working surfaces, and the projections lie in contact with one another in the second position to limit the motion of the clamps toward one another according to a predetermined clamping power. These movement limiting projections stop the clamps from moving toward one another at a point on the working side that can be predetermined so that the clamping power does not exceed a critical power above which the flanged part of the connecting area could be damaged.

[0011] According to a preferred embodiment of this invention, the mounting part is made essentially plate-shaped and has contact surfaces in two opposite edge areas for the outer sections of the clamps facing away from one another. These outer sections of the clamps facing away from one another can be riveted in the first position of the clamps on the working side to the contact surface.

[0012] Further, the essentially plate-shaped mounting part can have, on its side facing away from the clamps and around a borehole provided for the screw, a recess for receiving the head of the screw that is preferably made as a countersunk screw. In this way a smooth contact surface is provided for the roof components that are to be mounted on the side of the mounting part facing away from the clamps.

[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of this invention, the fastening device comprises a clamp unit in which both clamps are connected to each other. In contrast to the embodiment with two separate clamps, in this embodiment the user friendliness is increased. In an embodiment with one clamp unit, only two separate parts are present, which are easier to handle.

[0014] Preferably here both clamps can be connected to one another by two connecting bars that have a predetermined breaking point. In addition, the two clamps can be connected to one another by a flexible tongue that has a borehole for the screw to pass through. The connecting bars with predetermined breaking point can act here as a means of conveyance. If the screw is firmly tightened, these predetermined breaking points break off so that the connection between the two clamps is provided only by the flexible tongue which, for example, can be made of high-grade steel. This flexible tongue represents a bendable connection between the clamps, guaranteeing dimensional stability of the fastening device.

[0015] Pockets for receiving a nut can be made in both clamps in the sections in contact with the mounting part. These nuts and boreholes placed in the pockets can be aligned with boreholes for the mounting part, and screws can be screwed into these nuts through the above-mentioned boreholes to firmly screw roof components onto the mounting part. With this configuration of the clamps, the stability of the connection between mounting part and clamps is further increased by the screwing on of roof components.

[0016] It can be provided according to the invention that the clamp unit and the mounting part are connected to one another in the first position by the screw and by a square nut placed on the flexible tongue. In this way, a compact fastening device that can be placed on the roof is delivered to the user in situ and it can be fastened to the roof by simply tightening the screw.

[0017] According to a preferred embodiment of this invention, the fastening device is made essentially as a cast aluminum part. This makes it possible for the fastening device to be manufactured economically.

[0032] An aluminum roof 1 can be seen diagrammatically in FIG. 1 and it has two adjacent roof sections that are connected to one another in a connecting area 2. Connecting area 2 has a part 3 that is on top in FIG. 1 and in which the two sections of aluminum roof 1 are connected to one another by flange.

[0033] A fastening device 4 according to the invention can be attached to this flanged part 3. Fastening device 4 according to the invention comprises a mounting part 5 and two clamps 6 attached to it.

[0034] Mounting part 5 is seen in detail in FIG. 2. It is made essentially plate-shaped and consists of a base plate 12 with a frame 7 going around the periphery. In the embodiment shown, base plate 12 is made as a rectangle and, on opposite faces of this rectangle, there are contact surfaces 8 in which fastening boreholes 9 are placed for fastening corresponding parts of clamps 6, to be described in more detail below.

[0035] A borehole 10 is provided in base plate 12 of mounting part 5, approximately centrally, and it is used for receiving a screw 25 made as a countersunk screw that can be pushed through borehole 10 from the side facing away from clamps 6. A part 23 is fashioned around borehole 10 that has a recess on the sides of base plate 12 facing away from clamps 6 for receiving the head of the countersunk screw. The function of screw 25 will be explained in more detail below. In the embodiment shown, in the corners of base plate 12 there are tapholes 11 that are used for mounting the roof components, such as running slats or the like.

[0036] Clamps 6 can be seen in detail in FIG. 3. Clamps 6 have essentially an L-shape with one leg made as fastening leg 16 and a support leg that extends, in the assembled state of fastening device 4, essentially parallel to base plate 12 of mounting part 5. The leg of each clamp 6 that is essentially parallel to base plate 12 has, on its side facing base plate 12, two sections 15, 18 which, as can be seen from FIG. 3a, together enclose an angle &agr;. Angle &agr; can be 6°, for example. Right outer section 18 of clamp 6 in FIG. 3a is placed with the working side on contact surface 8 of mounting part 5 and is connected to mounting part 5 with rivets that can project through fastening boreholes 9 so that section 18 lies flat on contact surface 8. Because of the fact that sections 15 and 18 together enclose an angle &agr;, in this first position of clamps 6, preassembled on the working side, section 15 will project flat away from base plate 12 starting from section 18. Because of the arrangement of both L-legs of clamps 6 in an approximate right angle, the flat position of sections 18 on contact surfaces 8 makes it possible for fastening legs 16 of clamps 6, starting from base plate 12 of mounting part 5, to project somewhat away from each other over their length so that fastening device 4 can be mounted on part 3 of connecting area 2 (see FIG. 1).

[0037] For this purpose, fastening legs 16 have, in their end area, working surfaces 13 that each have the shape of a cylinder jacket segment or a hollow cylinder segment, and the inner sides of these cylinder jacket segments face respectively opposite fastening leg 16 of respective other clamp 6. Working surfaces 13 thus form a clearly open hollow cylinder on their side facing away from mounting part 5 and this cylinder with this opening can be pushed, in the mounted position on the working side (see FIG. 1), onto flanged part 3 of connecting area 2 of aluminum roof 1. It can further be seen from FIG. 3a that a stiffening fin 17 is provided between both L-legs of clamps 6.

[0038] On the side of working surfaces 13 facing mounting part 5, fastening leg 16 of clamps 6 have movement limiting projections 14 whose function will be explained in more detail below. Further, in the area of fastening legs 16 adjacent to mounting part 5 there is a support surface 19 for a nut 24. A continuous borehole 20 is provided in this supporting surface 19 through which screw 25 can pass. Nut 24 that can be seen from FIG. 1 is made as a square nut and is held stationary between both clamps 6. In this way, by screwing screw 25 from the side of base plate 12 facing away from clamps 6, supporting surface 19 of fastening legs 16 can be pulled in the direction of mounting part 5. But in doing so both fastening legs 16 move toward one another so that, in particular, working surfaces 13 move toward one another and surround flanged part 3 of connecting area 2. This achieves a second position of clamps 6 that acts to fasten fastening device 4 to connecting area 2. The end position of this movement by fastening legs 16 toward one another is then reached when both movement limiting projections 14, as can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, lie in contact with one another. This makes it possible that a predetermined clamping power is not exceeded so that flanged part 3 of connecting area 2 is not damaged.

[0039] It can be seen from FIG. 3b that a fastening hole is provided in section 18 and the rivets can engage through it and, through fastening holes 9, connect lateral contact surfaces 8 of mounting part 5 with sections 18. Further visible from FIG. 3b is a contact recess 22 in section 15 facing base plate 12 and it can receive part 23 fashioned onto base plate 12.

[0040] FIGS. 6 to 9 show a second embodiment of a fastening device according to the invention. In FIG. 6, an aluminum roof 26 is shown diagrammatically and it has two adjacent roof sections that are connected to one another in a connecting area 27. Connecting area 27 has an upper part 28 in FIG. 6 in which both sections of aluminum roof 26 are positively interlocked.

[0041] The second embodiment of a fastening device 29 shown in FIGS. 6 to 9 can be placed on this upper part 28 in which the roof sections are connected to one another. This fastening device 29 comprises a mounting part 30 and a clamp unit 31 with two clamps 32. Here, on the working side, clamp unit 31 can be attached to mounting part 30 in the position shown in FIG. 6.

[0042] Mounting part 30 is made more simply than mounting part 5 of the first embodiment. In particular it can be seen from FIG. 7 that mounting part 30 has a U-shaped cross section with two U-legs projecting a bit far upward in FIG. 7. The connecting surface between the two U-legs is made essentially rectangular, as can be seen in FIG. 8. An approximately central borehole 33 is placed in this base surface of mounting part 30 through which a screw 34 can be passed that is used to fasten clamp unit 31. Screw 34 can also be made as a countersunk screw and has, in the embodiment shown, a hexagon socket for engagement of a corresponding tool. Borehole 33 can also have a recess for the head of the countersunk screw.

[0043] The base surface of mounting part 30 further has two boreholes 35 for mounting roof components. In contrast to the first embodiment, these boreholes are not made as tapholes. Rather, in pockets 36 aligned with these boreholes and located on the outer sides of clamps 32, nuts 37 are held into which corresponding mounting screws for mounting roof components can be screwed.

[0044] Clamps 32 are made similar to clamps G. They also have a support leg 38 and a fastening leg 39 that are also placed essentially in an L-shape relative to one another so that the support leg runs approximately parallel to the plane of mounting part 30, whereas fastening leg 39 extends essentially perpendicular from mounting part 30. Support leg 36 extends, when fastened, essentially parallel to the base surface of mounting part 30. Support legs 38 of both clamps 32 each have outer sections 40, i.e., sections facing away from the connecting area of both clamps 32 and, in the preassembled first position on the working side, these sections lie in contact with the base surface of mounting part 30. These sections 40 can involve essentially the outer edge area of support legs 38. The placement of these outer sections 40 on the base surface of mounting part 30 can be seen from FIG. 6. Support legs 38 further have sections 41 which, in the preassembled, first position of clamps 32 on the working side, are at a distance from the base surface of mounting part 30. In the embodiment shown, these spaced sections 41 can involve for the most part the surface of support legs 38 facing mounting part 30. This can also be seen from FIG. 6, in which it becomes clear that support legs 38 lie only in their outer edge areas in contact with the base surface of mounting part 30 and otherwise are at a distance from this base surface.

[0045] In the adjacent area of support legs 38 of clamps 32, clamps 32 are connected to one another by two connecting bars 42, each of which has a predetermined breaking point 43 in its center. This predetermined breaking point 43 is made in the embodiment shown by a notch in connecting bars 42.

[0046] Centrally between both connecting bars 42 running on the outside there is a recess provided in support legs 38 through which a flexible tongue 44 connects both support legs 38 with one another (see FIG. 9). Flexible tongue 44 can be made, for example, of high-grade steel. Flexible tongue 44 has a central borehole 45 through which screw 34 can engage. A square nut 46 can be placed on flexible tongue 44 on the side facing away from mounting part 30 and screw 34 can be screwed into this square nut. Square nut 46 can be mounted, similar to square nut 24, so as not to twist between support legs 38 of clamps 32. In this way, as in the first embodiment, by screwing screw 34 from the side of the base surface of mounting part 30 facing away from clamps 32, the contact surface of flexible tongue 44 can be pulled toward mounting part 30. But then spaced central sections 41 of support legs 38 are also pulled by flexible tongue 44 toward mounting part 30 so that, in this way, the second position, namely the fastening position, is reached.

[0047] Fastening legs 39 of the second embodiment of fastening device 29 according to the invention are also made somewhat more simply. On their ends facing away from support legs 39 they have working surfaces 47 that are formed by sections projecting inward on the end of fastening leg 39, in particular at an angle of 90°. These two claw-shaped end sections with working surfaces 47 are moved toward one another by screwing screw 34 into nut 46.

[0048] It can further be seen from FIG. 9 that a borehole 48 is provided in each of support legs 38. This borehole 48 is aligned with corresponding boreholes 35 for mounting the roof components in the base surface of mounting part 30. Boreholes 35 and 48 are further aligned with nuts 37 placed in pockets 36 so that screws can be screwed into nuts 37 through boreholes 35, 48.

[0049] By screwing screw 34 into nut 46, flexible tongue 44 and thus central sections 41 of support legs 38 are moved toward mounting part 30. Simultaneously, at a certain point of this movement, connecting bars 42 will break at predetermined breaking points 43 so that support legs 36 are connected to one another essentially only by flexible tongue 44. This flexible tongue creates an easily deformable connection between both support legs 38.

[0050] Clamp unit 38 can be made in particular as a cast aluminum part. Mounting part 30 can be made as a cast aluminum part or of steel or a similar type of milled part.

Claims

1. Fastening device for fastening roof components to a connecting area (2, 27) of two adjacent roof sections of an aluminum roof (1, 26), and fastening device (4, 29) comprises a mounting part (5, 30) for mounting the roof components and two clamps (6, 32) lying opposite one another, connected to the mounting part, and able to be moved from a first position in which fastening device (4, 29) can be placed on connecting area (2, 27) into a second position in which clamps (6, 32), in the position in which fastening device (4, 29) is placed on connecting area (2, 27), receiving connecting area (2, 27) between them, are pressed on the latter and/or engage in a part (3, 28) of connecting area (2, 27) so that fastening device (4, 29) is fastened on connecting area (2, 27), characterized in that at least one of clamps (6, 32) on their side facing mounting part (5, 30) has at least two sections (15, 18, 40, 41) of which outer section (18, 40) facing away from other clamp (6, 32), in the first position of clamps (6, 32), is tightly in contact at least partially with mounting part (5, 30), in contrast to which the at least second section (15, 41), in the first position of clamps (6, 32), at least partially does not lie in contact with mounting part (5, 30) and clamps (6, 32) are transitioned into the second position by having at least a second section (15, 41) of at least one of clamps (6, 32) moved toward mounting part (5, 30).

2. Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein each of clamps (6, 32) has in each case two sections (15, 18, 40, 41) and, by moving section (15, 41) in each case facing adjacent clamp (6, 32) toward mounting part (5, 30), clamps (6, 32) can be transitioned into the second position.

Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein both sections (15, 18) of the sides of at least one clamp (6) facing mounting part (5) are made flat and enclose between them an angle (&agr;) so that, in the first position of the clamps in which respective outer section (18) of at least one clamp (6) lies in contact at least partially with corresponding surfaces of mounting part (5) and respective inner section (15) facing adjacent clamp (6) projects away from the connecting area with outer section (18), starting from mounting part (5).

4. Fastening device according to claim 3, wherein angle (&agr;) between two sections (15, 18) of clamps (6) is between 2° and 20°, preferably between 4° and 10°, in particular about 6°.

5. Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein inner section(s) (15, 41) of at least one clamp (6) can be moved by screw means toward mounting part (5, 30).

6. Fastening device according to claim 5, wherein the screw means comprise a nut (24, 46) made as a square nut that is received between two clamps (6, 32) so as not to twist in the first and in the second position of clamps (6, 32), and the screw means further comprise a screw (25, 34) that is accessible from the side of mounting part (5, 30) facing away from clamps (6, 32) and can be screwed into nuts (24, 46) for the transition of clamps (6, 32) from the first position into the second position.

7. Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein mounting part (5, 30) is made essentially plate-shaped and has, in two opposite edge areas, contact surfaces (8) for outer sections (18, 40) of clamps (6, 32) facing away from one another.

8. Fastening device according to claim 7, wherein outer sections (18) of clamps (6) facing away from one another are riveted in the first position of the clamps to contact surfaces (8).

9. Fastening device according to claim 7, wherein essentially plate-shaped mounting part (5, 30), on its side facing away from clamps (6, 32), has a recess around a borehole (10, 33) provided for screw (25, 34) for receiving the head of screw (25, 34) preferably made as a countersunk screw.

Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein clamps (6, 32) are made essentially L-shaped, with a leg that has both sections (15, 18, 40, 41) that lie at least partially in contact with mounting part (5, 30) and with a leg that projects away from section (15, 18, 40, 41) and from mounting part (5, 30) essentially in perpendicular direction and this leg has, in its end area, working surfaces (13, 47) for holding connecting area (2, 27) or part (3, 28) of connecting area (2, 27) of aluminum roof (1, 26).

11. Fastening device according to claim 10, wherein working surfaces (13) have the shape of a hollow cylinder segment and the inner sides of this hollow cylinder segment face each other and can receive flanged part (3) of connecting area (2) between them.

Fastening device according to claim 10, wherein, on the leg of clamps (6) projecting away from mounting part (5) there are placed, between mounting part (5) and working surfaces (13), movement limiting projections (14) facing each other and they lie in contact with one another in the second position to limit the movement of clamps (6) toward one another according to a predetermined clamp pressure.

13. Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein fastening device (29) comprises a clamp unit (31) in which both clamps (32) are connected to one another.

14. Fastening device according to claim 13, wherein both clamps (32) are connected to one another by two connecting bars (42) that have a predetermined breaking point (43).

15. Fastening device according to claim 13, wherein both clamps (32) are connected to one another by a flexible tongue (44), which has a borehole (45) for passage of screw (34).

16. Fastening device according to claim 13, wherein nuts (37) are held in clamps (32) and they are aligned with boreholes (35) in mounting part (30) and screws for mounting roof components can be screwed through these boreholes (35) into nuts (37).

17. Fastening device according to claim 15, wherein clamp unit (31) and mounting part (30) are connected to one another in the first position by screw (34) and a square nut (46) placed on flexible tongue (44).

18. Fastening device according to claim 1, wherein fastening device (4) is made essentially as a cast aluminum part.
