Golf club grip

A golf club grip comprises a grip main body and at least one soft tape body. The grip main body is provided with at least one groove in which the tape body is disposed. When a golfer holds the golf club grip, the palms of the golfer come in contact with the grip main body and the tape body, thereby providing a better gripping sensation and preventing the palms of the golfer from sliding on the golf club grip.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates generally to a golf club, and more particularly to a grip of the golf club.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The conventional golf club grip is generally made of a rubber material by injection molding. The rubber material is relatively more rigid and is therefore provided a poor contact sensation, especially at the time when the golf club hits a ball. When the impact force is transmitted to the grip via the shaft, the impact force causes discomfort to the hands holding the grip, thereby resulting in a poor performance in hitting.

[0003] A prior art golf club has a grip which is provided with a PU tape, as is the case with the badminton racket or tennis racket. The PU tape is wound around the grip. In light of the PU tape being relatively soft, the grip is capable of providing a golfer with a better contact sensation. However, the wet PU tape is apt to become slippery and is therefore unsuitable for use in a rainy day. In addition, the PU tape can become slippery by the palm perspiration of the golfer.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a golf club grip which is capable of providing a golfer with a better gripping sensation.

[0005] It is another objective of the present invention to provide a golf club grip which is capable of preventing the sliding of the hands holding the golf club grip.

[0006] The golf club grip of the present invention comprises a grip main body and at least one soft tape body. The body of the grip is provided with at least one groove in which the tape body is located, so as to enable the palm of a golfer to make contact with the grip main body as well as the tape body. As a result, the golf club grip of the present invention provides a better gripping sensation and prevents the slipping of the golfer's hands.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0009] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a golf club grip of the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a grip main body 10 and a soft tape body 20.

[0010] The grip main body 10 is made of rubber by injection molding and is fastened with the buttend of a golf club shaft (not shown in the drawings). The grip main body 10 is provided in the outer surface with a spiral groove 11.

[0011] The soft tape body 20 is made of a polyurethane foam material and is spirally disposed in the spiral groove 11 of the grip main body 10. The depth of the spiral groove 11 is equal to or slightly smaller than the thickness of the tape body 20. The tape body 20 is provided in the back with an adhesive coating 21. The tape body 20 may be provided with an adhesive tape which is coated in both sides thereof with an adhesive. The tape body 20 is fixed in the spiral groove 11 such that the bottom end of the tape body 20 is fixed by an adhesive tape 30.

[0012] As a golfer holds the golf club grip of the present invention, the palms of the golfer come in contact with both the grip main body 10 and the soft tape body 20. The tape body 20 provides the palms with a better gripping sensation. The grip main body 10 prevents the sliding of the palms. The gripping sensation and the prevention of sliding are dependent on the size of the exposed area of the grip main body 10, which is in turn dependent on the pitch P of the groove 11 or the tape body 20. The pitch of the groove 11 is determined by a series of tests, so as to maximize the effects of the golf club grip of the present invention.

Claims

1. A golf club grip comprising a grip main body, butt provided in the outer surface with at least one groove in which a soft tape body is fixed, said golf club grip providing a golfer with a better gripping sensation and preventing the palms of the golfer from slipping.

2. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said groove of said grip main body is spiral in shape and is extended along the outer surface of said grip main body.

3. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said soft tape body is provided in the inner side with an adhesive for adhering said tape body to said groove of said grip main body.

4. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said tape body is provided in the inner side with an adhesive tape which is coated on both sides thereof with an adhesive.

5. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said soft tape body is fixed at one end by an adhesive tape after said soft tape body is disposed in said groove of said grip main body.

6. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said grip main body is made of rubber by injection molding.

7. The golf club grip as defined in claim 1, wherein said soft tape body is made of a polyurethane foam material.
