Blow dryer

An improved blow dryer mainly includes a casing with an exhaust port, an intake port, and a holder, a switch thereon. A heater is arranged near the exhaust port while a set of fan mechanism is disposed on the rear side of the heater. The improvement of the device is characterized in that the foregoing fan mechanism constituted by a cylindrical cross-flow fan and a brushless motor. The fan mechanism is mounted inside the casing, above the holder and the axis thereof is the same with the axis of the holder. The angle between the axis of the exhaust port and that of the intake port is from 20 to 70 degrees. Therefore, the noise raised by the operation of the blow dryer can be dramatically reduced.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to an improved structure of blow dryers, especially to a blow dryer with improved design of fan mechanism, an exhaust port and an intake port for reducing the noises produced in operation.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] The conventional blow dryer is composed of a casing and inner components. The casing consists of an exhaust port, an intake port, and a holder with switch thereon. Inside the casing are a heater located near the exhaust port and a set of fan mechanism behind the heater. As shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the fan mechanism (a) is formed by a DC brush motor (a3) with a sirocoo fan (a1) or a propeller fan (a2) and the axis of the fan mechanism (a) is perpendicular to that of the holder (b1), all arranged inside the casing (b2), above the holder (b1). The exhaust port (b3) and an intake port (b4) are disposed on two ends of the casing (b2) respectively or the axes of them perpendicular to each other. The holder (b1) of the blow dryer in FIG. 5 is foldable for saving storage space but this may increase the manufacturing cost thus reduce the practicality and value. The most important of all, the main drawback of the conventional blow dryer is large amount of noise produced by fans, filtration between motor shaft and brush, and electric interaction of coils. The loud sound is generally over 80 decibels. When being used, the dryer is often put near the human body thus may have great effect on health of users. In addition, the brush motor and rotor thereof contact with each other directly thus cause abrasion and reduce the life cycle of the device (usually from 500 to 1000 hours).

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] It is therefore the primary object of the present invention to provide a blow dryer that reduces the amount of the voice raised by fan mechanism in order to improve the health condition of users.

[0006] The second object of the present invention is to provide a blow dryer with a set of fan mechanism above the holder for the convenience of saving space, storage and package.

[0007] A further object of the present invention is to provide a blow dryer that the motor of the fan mechanism is replaced by a brushless motor so as to increase the life time of the dryers.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0014] Refer to FIG. 1-FIG. 3, the present invention comprises a casing 1 with an exhaust port 11, an intake port 12, and a holder 13, a switch 14 thereon. A heater 2 is arranged near at one end of the casing 1 near the exhaust port 11 while a set of fan mechanism 3 is disposed on the rear of the heater 2. The improvement of the present invention is characterized by the foregoing fan mechanism 3 includes a cylindrical cross-flow fan 31 and a brushless motor 32, both are assembled and disposed inside the casing 1, above the holder 13. The axis of the fan mechanism 3 is the same with, or parallel to the axis of the holder 13.

[0015] For improving the efficiency of the fan mechanism 3, the angle between the axis of the exhaust port and that of the intake port is designed from 20 to 70 degrees. Besides, the shape of the exhaust port 11 and the intake port 12 can be any other shapes, not only limited to round one. Moreover, a deflector 15 is arranged on the wall of casing, between the exhaust port 11 and the intake port 12 so as to make all the air flow blowing out from the exhaust port 11 without interference thus increases the efficiency of the invention.

[0016] According to the structure mentioned above, the fan mechanism 3 in accordance with the present invention uses the cylindrical cross-flow fan 31 with lower noise and the brushless motor 32 that doesn't make noises by filtration. Thus when being used, the present invention can lower the amount of noises (at least 10 decibels less than traditional dryers) thus have good effect on user's health. Furthermore, the brushless motor 32 without any filtration and have longer life time (generally over 10000 hours). Moreover, the fan mechanism 3 is arranged above the holder and the axis thereof is perpendicular to the direction of blown air flow and the exhaust port 11 and the intake port 12 are disposed on two lateral sides of the casing, above the holder so that the shape of the invention is a linear shape. Therefore, the space the device need is reduced for saving storage space and packaging cost.

[0017] Many changes and modifications in the above-described embodiments of the invention can, of course, be carried out without departing from the scope thereof. Accordingly, to promote the progress in science and the useful arts, the invention is disclosed and is intended to be limited only by the scope of the appended claim.

Claims

1. A blow dryer comprising a casing with a an exhaust port, an intake port, and a holder thereon,

a switch arranged on said holder,
a heater mounted inside one end of said casing near said exhaust port,
a set of fan mechanism disposed on the rear side of said heater, inside said casing,
the improvement of the present invention is characterized by:
said fan mechanism having a cylindrical cross-flow fan and a brushless motor, being disposed above said holder, and the axis thereof is the same with the axis of said holder.

2. The blow dryer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the angle between the axis of said exhaust port and the axis of said intake port is from 20 to 70 degrees.

3. The blow dryer as claimed in claim 1, wherein a deflector is mounted on the casing, between said exhaust port and said intake port.
