Necktie and necktie and knot system

Abstract

A separate necktie and knot are provided as a pair for engaging a necktie with a knot, without the prior art, making of the tie. The knot is engaged over the ends of the tie, slid into place at the neck and secured. The separate band and knot of the present invention simplifies the complications of making a prior art necktie with a knot.

Description

[0001] The present invention is a continuation in part of Provisional Application No. 60/246,298 filed Nov. 7, 2000, and relates to a necktie, particularly to a conventional necktie usable with a separately engagable necktie knot. The engaged knot and necktie simulate the conventionally tied necktie without the steps of making the conventional knot.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The necktie as a usual dress apparel requires time and dexterity to use. The proper forming of the knot from the necktie oftentimes poses a problem to the user of the necktie or is inconvenient. Manual dexterity and time are required to make the necktie. The present invention is a simple solution to these problems.

[0018] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0019] According to the present invention, a necktie and separate necktie knot combination is provided, which allows the user to maintain the proper appearance of a necktie, without the complexity of having to make the formal knot.

[0020] In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a substantially conventional necktie band may be looped about a neck and a separate necktie knot slipped over the ends of the band can be slid up to fully engage the necktie on the neck, giving substantially the appearance of a conventional, tied necktie. A securing means on the knot, assures non slipping of the engagement of the knot on a shirt button.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0027] Referring now to the figures in greater detail, where like reference numbers denote like parts in the various figures.

[0028] FIGS. 1 and 4, show a necktie 10 including a wide end 11 and a narrow end 14, face portion 15, an inside portion 13 and inner seam 12.

[0029] As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, a knot 30 is in the form of a tapering loop. The knot 30 includes a wide upper portion 31 which tapers to a narrow lower portion 32 and a front portion 35. The knot 30, as shown in FIG. 3, includes a through opening 33 and includes a conventional seam 34 sewn holding the knot 30 together.

[0030] As shown FIG. 4, the wide end 11 and narrow end 14 of the necktie 10 has been pulled through the knot 30 to form a neck loop 40. The narrow end 14 and wide end 11 of the necktie 10 are threaded through the opening 33 of the knot 30 and slid up the length of the necktie 10 forming a neck loop 40.

[0031] In FIG. 4, the knot 30 is shown, in phantom in stages as the knot 30 is moved up the necktie 10. The neck loop 40 is formed by the interaction of the necktie 10 and knot 30. The neck loop 40 is selected to go around a shirt collar and the neck of a wearer (not shown).

[0032] As shown in FIGS. 1-5, the necktie 10 and knot 30 provide a new mode of engaging a necktie 10 about the neck without the conventional tying of the knot. The necktie 10 is conventionally engaged about the neck, and under a collar, giving the appearance of being knotted without having the complications of having to tie the knot.

[0033] As shown in FIG. 5, the rear portion 36 of the knot 30 includes a means in the form of a securing retainer 37, which is preferably some form of a circlet. The securing retainer 37, if not integral to the knot 30, may be adhered by selected means known in the art, such as, being sewn or adhered by an adhesive at point 38.

[0034] The securing retainer 37 then enables the knot 30 to be secured against slippage by affixing the retainer 37 to a shirt button, such as the top button of the shirt (not shown). Then the knot 30 is held in place, holding the necktie 10 with a neck loop 40 in place, giving the appearance of a conventionally made necktie.

Claims

1. A necktie set comprising a necktie band portion, and a necktie knot portion, said necktie hand portion including at least a first end and a second end, said necktie knot portion including at least a top portion; a bottom portion; and an opening therethrough, said necktie band portion's first end and second end threadable through said necktie knot portion's opening, said necktie knot portion further including attaching means.

2. The necktie set of claim 1 wherein said necktie knot includes a front portion and a rear portion, said attaching means at said rear portion.

3. The necktie set of claim 2 wherein said attaching means is is engagable to a button.

4. The necktie set of claim 3 wherein said attaching means includes an opening.

5. The necktie set of claim 4 wherein said attaching means is a loop.

6. The necktie set of claim 5 wherein said loop is affixed at a rear portion of said knot.
