Bubble blowing device

A bubble blowing device having a mouthpiece, an enclosure and a plurality of conduits and wands, so that air blown through the mouthpiece passes through the enclosure, the conduits and the wands to blow multiple separate bubbles. The enclosure has a dome to distribute air more evenly to the conduits. A baffle can be located between the mouthpiece and the conduits to distribute blown air more evenly to the conduits.

Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] This present invention relates generally to bubble blowing devices.

DESCRIPTION OF KNOWN ART

[0002] Hand-held bubble blowing devices with wands dipped in soap-blowing solution are well known, as are devices with multiple wands attached to a common enclosure. These known devices with multiple wands generally space the wand apertures closely together, or in the same plane so that bubbles blown clump or cluster together instead of forming separate bubbles. The known devices do not permit the blowing of multiple separate bubbles simultaneously.

[0003] Additionally, known devices do not include baffles within the enclosure to direct air more evenly to the wands for multiple simultaneous bubble blowing. A baffle enables small children to blow multiple simultaneous bubbles, a result not achieved by known devices.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0004] A bubble blowing device having features of the present invention comprises an enclosure having a dome with multiple openings, conduits connecting the openings of the enclosure to multiple wands, and a mouthpiece in air communication with the interior of the enclosure. When the user dips the wands in bubble blowing solution and blows air through the mouthpiece, the air travels through the enclosure, out the conduits and out the wands, thereby blowing bubbles with the bubble solution. The bubble blowing device also can include a baffle to assist in directing the air more evenly through the enclosure. Handles may be attached for easier holding of the bubble blowing device.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0013] As shown in FIGS. 1, 2 & 3, the present bubble blowing device 10 comprises an enclosure 11 having a dome 12, an interior 13 and an enclosure base 14. The dome has a plurality of openings 16, and fitted in each opening is a conduit 17 connected to a bubble wand 18. A mouthpiece 19 is connected to the enclosure (11) so that the mouthpiece (19) and the wands (18) are in air communication through the dome (12) and conduits (17). A handle 21 may be attached to the mouthpiece. A baffle 20 may be included in the enclosure (11) to disperse blown air more evenly.

[0014] As shown in FIGS. 2, 3, and 4, the dome in this embodiment is, for ease of manufacture, comprised of a dome top 22, and a dome base 23. The enclosure base and dome base in this embodiment are approximately 26 mm in diameter at their largest dimension, and are molded separately for ease of insertion of the conduit and wand assembly 24. The dome in this embodiment is hemispherical, but “dome” as used herein also includes ellipsoidal or other shapes with an arc shaped cross section. The dome also may be in the shape of a polyhedron, other than cubes and rectangular shapes, if the polyhedron is open on sufficient numbers of polygons or portions of polygons to create an enclosure with the enclosure base. The dome and enclosure base can be combined in a single part or can be multiple pieces.

[0015] The dome is attached to the enclosure base (14) to form the enclosure (11). In this embodiment, the enclosure base (14) and dome (12) form a spherical enclosure (11). As described above, other shapes are equivalent, but should have somewhat arced or curved cross sections or obtuse angles, as measured in the interior (13) side of the dome, between adjacent planes of the dome. This facilitates more even distribution of air through the enclosure (11) to the dome openings (16) and out the conduits (17).

[0016] The mouthpiece in this embodiment is molded as a single unit with handles 21. The mouthpiece (19) provides a convenient aperture for directing air into the enclosure.

[0017] As shown in FIG. 5, the bubble blowing device in this embodiment includes wand and conduit assemblies molded as single unit 20, which are approximately 17 mm long and 7.5 mm in diameter where joined to the dome. The conduit and wand could be created separately. Thirteen wand-conduit units (20) are used in this embodiment, but a different number could be used. The conduits are spaced about the dome, so that the traverse plane of the wand is different for each of the wands. This permits further separation of the bubbles during blowing, and prevents clumping and clustering. With ellipsoidal, or other curved dome shapes, the spacing of conduit at approximately right angles will place the traverse faces of the wands in different planes.

[0018] The hemispherical shaped dome and approximately symmetrical enclosure base provide relatively even air distribution to the various conduits. As the enclosure is increased in size, or is less spherical, more air is required to blow multiple bubbles effectively. A baffle 20 located between the mouthpiece and the conduits directs the air more evenly to the conduits, and allows small children to use the device effectively. As shown in FIGS. 5, 7 & 8, in this embodiment, the baffle has a base 25 and two wings 26. The wings span approximately 18 mm and the base is approximately 22 mm high. A sphere can substitute for the baffle wings (26).

2. The bubble blowing device of claim 1 having a baffle between the mouthpiece and the conduits.

3. The bubble blowing device of claim 1 in which the traverse planes of the faces of each of the plurality of wands is different from the traverse planes of the face of the other wands.
