Computer keyboard cleaner

There is no new technical innovation required in the design of the computer keyboard unit but what is new is the realization that in the workplace windows, carpets, floors and toilets are cleaned for health and safety yet the most logical place which harbors bacteria and viruses and is in constant “unprotected” contact with the hands is the computer keyboard.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention is to enable commercial and industrial businesses to comply with Health and Safety in the workplace-in particular where the employee has a need to use a Computer keyboard as a tool to enable them to complete their duties for that company.

[0002] The use of computer cleaning companies is minimal because of cost and availability so in the main companies are in fact breaking the law by not adhering to the cleaning of the computer keyboard on a regular basis.

[0003] Surveys have shown that viruses, bacteria and human body debris are constantly resident in a working keyboard and are never removed.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The computer keyboard cleaner is conceived as a lightweight box which contains the printed circuit board and mechanical parts which will clean the keyboard fascia and key base unit, using appropriate COSHH cleaning materials, to an standard acceptable to Health and Safety regulations.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

[0005] The enclosed drawings are an overview of the operational parts of the computer keyboard cleaner and will not be submitted in more detail until a prototype unit has been designed and tested.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0006] 1. A computer keyboard cleaner including a suction motor, a spray container housing, a set of nylon brushes; all controlled by a programmed printed circuit board.

[0007] 2. The programme should be designed to use the suction motor first, initiate the spray container second, rotate the brushes thirdly and re-initiate the suction motor lastly.

[0008] 3. The suction motor should have a lightweight, flexible extractor nozzle and tube which extracts the debris from the keyboard into a small lightweight replaceable bag.

[0009] 4. The nozzle and tube must be able to move along the keys.

[0010] 5. The printed circuit board should be designed to use the minimum spray required from the spray container.

[0011] 6. The brushes should be attached to the end of a retractable rod and capable of moving forwards and backwards over the keys.

[0012] 7. All the above components should be encased in lightweight plastic casing.

[0013] 8. The power should be capable of both AC and DC currents.

Claims

1. What I claim as my invention is a motorised unit controlled by a printed circuit board which by use of components and and COSHH cleaning materials will be able to clean computer keyboards to comply with international Health and Safety law—in the workplace.
