Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to an exerciser, and more particularly to an exerciser for exercising the abdominal portion of the user.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] Typical exercisers for exercising the abdominal portion of the user include a pair of curved arms rotatably or pivotally supported on the ground. The users have to lie on the ground in order to exercise their abdominal portion or the waist portion with the exerciser. It is inconvenient to use such exercisers to exercise the abdominal portions of the users.

[0005] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional exercisers.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide an exerciser for effectively or conveniently exercising the abdominal portion of the user.

[0007] In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided an exerciser comprising a base including an upper portion for supporting a user thereon, and including a front portion, a foot support, and means for securing the foot support to the front portion of the base. The user may sit on the base and may engage his feet with the foot support and may move or rotate backward to exercise his waist portion or his abdominal portion.

[0008] The base includes a recess formed in the upper portion of the base for receiving buttocks of the user. The base includes a pair of pads received in the recess of the base for supporting the buttocks of the user. The base preferably includes at least one pair of openings formed therein for receiving hands of the user. The user may engage his hands into the openings of the base in order to reduce the upward moving load or the like to the user.

[0009] The base includes a bottom portion having an antislip knurled surface formed therein, and/or having an anti-slip member engaged therein. The bottom portion of the base includes a peripheral groove formed therein, the anti-slip member is an anti-slip wire secured in the peripheral groove of the base.

[0010] The securing means includes a rod secured to the front portion of the base, and the foot support includes a bar secured to the rod for supporting feet of the user.

[0011] The securing means further includes a barrel secured to the front portion of the base, and the rod of the foot support is slidably engaged in the barrel, the securing means further includes means for locking the rod to the barrel.

[0012] The locking means includes a plurality of orifices formed in the rod, and a fastener engaged in the barrel and engaged with either of the orifices of the rod for adjustably locking the rod to the barrel.

[0013] The foot support further includes a bracket secured to the rod, and a beam for engaging with the feet of the user, and means for adjustably securing the beam to the bracket.

[0014] One or more spring cables may further be provided and coupled to the foot support and having a hand grip attached thereto for facilitating the movement of the users or for helping the user to move upward from a lie down position. For example, the user may further hold the hand grips of the spring cables in order to facilitate or to reduce the upward moving load or the like to the user.

[0015] Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of a detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0016] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exerciser in accordance with the present invention;

[0017] FIG. 2 is a partial bottom perspective view of the exerciser;

[0018] FIG. 3 is a partial cross sectional view taken along lines 3-3 of FIG. 1; and

[0019] FIGS. 4, 5, 6, are side plane schematic views illustrating the operation of the exerciser.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0020] Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1-4, an exerciser in accordance with the present invention comprises a base 10 including a knurled surface 11 or the like formed or provided in the bottom portion thereof and including a peripheral groove 12 formed in the bottom portion thereof for receiving a wire 13 or the like that may be used for anti-slip purposes. The base 10 thus may be prevented from moving relative to the supporting ground or surface by the knurled surface 11 and/or the anti-slip wire 13 or the like. The base 10 includes a recess 14 formed in the upper and front portion thereof and a pair of pads 15 engaged in the recess 14 thereof for comfortably supporting the buttocks of the users (FIGS. 4-6). The base 10 may further include one or more pairs of openings 16 formed in the rear portion thereof for allowing the users to grasp or hold the base 10 (FIG. 5).

[0021] The base 10 includes a cavity 17 formed in the front portion thereof. A barrel 18 has one end engaged into the cavity 17 of the base 10 and secured to the base 10 with fasteners 19, for example. A foot support includes a rod 20 slidably engaged in the barrel 18 and includes one or more orifices 21 formed in the rod 20. A fastener 23 is threaded to the barrel 18 and may be threaded to either of the orifices 21 of the rod 20 for adjustably securing the rod 20 to the barrel 18 according to the sizes or the lengths of the legs of the users. The foot support includes a bar 24 provided and attached to the front portion of the rod 20 for supporting the feet of the users.

[0022] A bracket 25 may further be provided and secured to the front portion of the rod 20 with such as the fasteners 29, and includes one or more apertures 26 formed therein. The foot support further includes a beam 28 which may be selectively or adjustably secured to the bracket 25 with a fastener 27. The fastener 27 may be engaged with either of the apertures 26 of the bracket 25 for adjusting the beam 28 upward and downward relative to the rod 20 or the bar 24, according to the size or the thickness of the feet of the users (FIG. 3). One or more resilient or spring cables 30 may further be provided and may include one end secured to the rod 20 or to the bar 24 and may include a hand grip 33 attached or provided on the other end thereof.

[0023] In operation, as shown in FIG. 4, the user may sit on the base 10 and may engage his feet between the bar 24 and the beam 28 and may move or rotate backward to exercise his waist portion or the abdominal portion thereof. As shown in FIG. 5, the user may engage his hands into the openings 16 of the base 10 in order to reduce the upward moving load or the like to the user. As shown in FIG. 6, the user may further hold the hand grips 33 of the spring cables 30 in order to facilitate or to reduce the upward moving load or the like to the user.

[0024] Accordingly, the exerciser in accordance with the present invention may be used for effectively or conveniently exercising the abdominal portion of the user.

[0025] Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
