Clean-out

My “Clean-Out” consists of one length of solid 4-inch PVC pipe, one 4-inch PVC T-fitting and one 4-inch solid PVC cap. The length of the solid 4-inch PVC pipe is determined by the depth of the drainage system of the building.

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0002] I, James Keller, own and operate Keller Waterproofing and Foundation. I have been installing drainage systems around new and old foundations for approximately fifteen years. I seal the foundation wall and install perforated PVC 4-inch pipe and gravel over top of pipe so it can drain water away from foundation off to the surface.

[0003] About four months ago I came up with the idea of installing a “Clean-Out” because of the system being so deep in the ground, usually about 8-ft; so I thought it would be necessary to install something such as a “Clean-Out” so we can service the pipe that is the bottom of the foundation. I designed a clean out for the drainage system which consists of a 4-inch PVC T fitting that connects to a 4-inch PVC perforated pipe which is the system pipe and a solid 4-inch PVC pipe to the top of the grade. A 4-inch solid cap on top of the solid PVC pipe prevents from objects to clog the pipe and allows us to access and clean out the system whenever necessary without having to excavate down to the footer of the foundation again.

[0004] This means in case that the drainage system for whatever reason fails it can be accessed and flushed as necessary through the clean-out.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The “Clean-Out” allows access to the drainage system around the foundation which prior was not possible.

[0006] Before, if problems with the installed system arose, we had to excavate around the foundation again. Now, with the Clean-Out, all we have to do is take off the cover cap at the top of the Clean-Out, put the water hose into the pipe and let the water run for about 30 minutes and unclog the pipe. If necessary, the PVC pipe can be snaked.

[0007] With the Clean-Out it eliminates problems before they arise since the system can be serviced and proper water flow maintained.

[0008] I am confident I offer my customers the best drainage system available.

Claims

1. It is a Clean-Out installed on a new drainage system that is installed around a foundation, next to the footer of a foundation.

2. It consists of one PVC 4-inch T-fitting at the high point or beginning of a drainage system which is 4-inch PVC perforated pipe installed for drainage around a foundation; gravel is installed over top of perforated pipe. Install a solid pipe that is connected to a 90 degree fitting that runs to the surface of ground level from the bottom of the trench. There is also a cap installed on top of the solid pipe above grade so that the perforated pipe that is installed around the foundation can be serviced, snaked or cleaned out; the cap also prevents objects falling into the pipe and therefore clogging the clean-out or the drainage system at the bottom of the foundation.
