Cylindrical container holder

A holder for a cylinder of lip balm or lipstick which holds the product tightly and includes an elastic strap which may be attached to a part of the user's garment such as in the vicinity of the upper chest of the user or to an accessory of the user so that the lip balm product may be readily applied to the lips of the user without being removed from its attachment to the user's garment or accessory.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Lip balm for chapped lips and lipstick are commonly available in cylindrical containers, one end of which has a cover which may be removed for access to the contents, and the other end of which when rotated advances the contents up through the cylindrical container so it may come in contact with the person's lips. In certain sports activities such as snow skiing, it is very awkward to use these products if they are carried in one's pockets.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The invention utilizes a holder for a cylinder of lip balm or lipstick which holds the product tightly and which may be attached to a part of the user's garment in the vicinity of the upper chest of the user, such as the hole in a zipper pull tab or in a buttonhole. The product may also be attached to a bracelet, necklace, a purse strap or elsewhere where it is readily accessible. The attachment is made by means of an elastic strap attached to the holder for the cylindrical container which may be inserted through one of the above described openings and then the container is looped through the elastic strap and held in place. This way it is readily accessible to the user and the elasticity of the strap permits the product to be stretched upward and used on the lips of the user.

[0003] It is therefore, one object of this invention to provide a holder for a cylindrical container which may be readily attached to a garment of an individual and the contents of which may be readily used on the lips of the individual without detaching the holder from the garment of the individual.

[0004] This, together with other objects of the invention, will become apparent from the following detailed description of the invention and the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] FIG. 1. A perspective view of applicant's invention shown attached to a zipper pull tab.

[0006] FIG. 2. A side elevation view of applicant's invention.

[0007] FIG. 3. A section of FIG. 2 in the section 3-3.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0008] Referring now more particularly to FIG. 1, the holder is shown at 10 completely surrounding a cylindrical container shown in phantom as container 11. The holder 10 is made of a flexible, preferably elastic material, which will fit snugly around the container 11. Attached to the holder 10 is a continuous elastic strap 12, which is shown threaded through the opening 13 of a zipper pull tab 14 and looped back so as to be locked in place. It should be noted that a strap 12a, which is preferably elastic, fits underneath the container 11 thus helping to hold it in place yet permitting the bottom 15 of the container 11 to be manipulated so as to move the product in the container upwardly when the top 16 of the container is removed. Since the continuous elastic strap 12 is made of an elastic material, once the top 16 is removed, and the bottom 15 rotated to move the product up so that it is exposed, the assembly may be readily moved to the lips of the user for application.

[0009] Referring now to FIG. 2, the holder 10 is shown with one side being stitched together at 17 as a method of making the product. The strap 12a is shown extending underneath the container 11 and the continuous elastic strap 12 extends upwardly at the side of the container.

[0010] FIG. 3 is a section of FIG. 2 showing the holder 10 and the container 11, the bottom 15 and the top 16 of the container 11 and the strap 12a.

[0011] In use the cylindrical container 11 is inserted into the flexible holder 10 which is made of a material which will snugly hold the container 11 therein. An elastic material such as neoprene is preferred. The strap 12a is attached to the holder 10 so that it crosses underneath the cylindrical container 11 and supports it. This permits the container to have the top 16 removed for use and also permits the base 15 of the container to be rotated so as to move the contents upward for use by the individual. The continuous elastic strap 12 may be looped through a hole in a zipper, a buttonhole or some other portion of the apparel or accessory of the individual so that the material contained in the container may be readily available for the application to the lips of the user.

[0012] While this invention has been shown and described with respect to a detailed embodiment thereof, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and detail thereof may be made without departing from the scope of the claims of the invention:
