Swing chair

A swing chair includes right and left support frames for pivotally mounting a swingable seat member therebetween, a table mounting shaft secured on and extending upwardly from an upper portion of one of the support frames, and a table member with a flat table portion which is swiveledly mounted on the table mounting shaft via a connecting shaft. As such, the flat table portion is turnable about a swivel axis in an upright direction to move to a position of use which is closer to a front portion of the seat member and to move away to a position of non-use which is remote from the front portion of the seat member. A locking member is disposed to lock releasably the connecting shaft on the table mounting shaft.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] This invention relates to a swing chair, more particularly to a swing chair with a table member swiveledly mounted on a support frame thereof.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] A conventional swing chair is generally used outdoors. As there are no means provided for steadily placing food on the swing chair, inconveniences arise during use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The object of the present invention is to provide a swing chair with a table member mounted swiveledly on a support frame thereof.

[0006] According to this invention, the swing chair includes right and left support frames which are spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction. Each support frame includes a lower portion which is adapted to be laid on a ground surface, an upper portion which is disposed opposite to the lower portion in an upright direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, and front and rear portions which are disposed opposite to each other in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal and upright directions and each of which is disposed between the upper and lower portions. A swingable seat member includes right and left swinging frames which are mounted pivotally and respectively on the upper portions of the right and left support frames about axes oriented in the longitudinal direction, and a seat frame which is interposed between and which is swingable with the right and left swinging frames. A table mounting shaft is secured on and extends upwardly from the upper portion of one of the right and left support frames. A table member includes a flat table portion, and a connecting shaft which has a proximate end that is connected to the flat table portion, and a distal end that is swiveledly mounted on the table mounting shaft about a swivel axis oriented in the upright direction so as to permit the flat table portion to turn about the swivel axis to move to a position of use which is closer to the seat frame and to move away to a position of non-use which is remote from the seat frame. A locking member is disposed to lock releasably the distal end of the connecting shaft on the table mounting shaft.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0013] Referring to FIG. 1, the preferred embodiment of the swing chair according to the present invention is shown to comprise right and left support frames 11 which are spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction. Each of the right and left support frames 11 includes front and rear legs 111, 112 which have lower portions to be laid on a ground surface, and upper portions opposite to the lower portions in an upright direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, and a transverse rod 113 which interconnects the upper portions of the legs 111, 112. The transverse rod 113 has front and rear portions which are disposed opposite to each other in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal and upright directions. Right and left mounting frames 13 are secured on the transverse rod 113, and include front and rear sections 132, 133 which are secured on the front and rear portions of the transverse rod 113 and which extend upwardly, and a middle section 131 which is disposed between and which extends downwardly from the front and rear sections 132, 133 to be laid on the ground surface. In this embodiment, with reference to FIG. 3, the front section 132 of the left mounting frame 13 is formed as a table mounting shaft with a tubular mounting end, and terminates at an upper abutting edge 1321. In addition, two longitudinal stretcher rods 12, 14 are secured on the rear legs 112 and the middle sections 131, respectively by means of screw fasteners 15.

[0014] Right and left suspending members 2 are mounted on the transverse rods 113, respectively. Each suspending member 2 includes a pair of swinging plates 21, each of which has an upper pivot end 22 that is mounted pivotally on the transverse rod 113 about an axis oriented in the longitudinal direction, and a lower pivot end 23.

[0015] A swingable seat member 3 includes right and left swinging frames 33 which are mounted pivotally and respectively on the lower pivot ends 23 of the right and left suspending members 2 about axes oriented in the longitudinal direction, a seat frame with front and rear seat rods 31, 32 which are interposed between and which are swingable with the right and left swinging frames 33 and which extend in the longitudinal direction, and a seat cushion 34 which is mounted on the seat frame.

[0016] A table member 4 includes a flat table portion 42, and a connecting shaft 41 which has a proximate end 412, a distal end 411, and a middle curved portion 413. As shown in FIG. 2, the proximate end 412 is detachably mounted on the flat table portion 42 by a locking member 40. The locking member 40 includes a receiving tube 401 which is secured on the proximate end 412 and which is formed with a lock hole 404, and an insert tube 402 which is secured on the flat table portion 42 and which is provided with a spring-biased locking stud 403 that extends radially and outwardly of the insert tube 402 so as to extend into the locking hole 404. Alternatively, the flat table portion 42 may be connected to the connecting shaft 41 in a known manner, such as soldering, screw fastening, etc.

[0017] As shown in FIG. 3, the distal end 411 of the connecting shaft 41 is tubular and extends to terminate at a lower abutting edge 4111 that abuts against the upper abutting edge 1321 of the table mounting shaft (i.e. the front section 132 of the left mounting frame 13). The distal end 411 is formed with first and second locking holes 414, 415 which are spaced angularly apart from each other, and is swiveledly mounted on the table mounting shaft about a swivel axis oriented in the upright direction by means of a locking member 43. The locking member 43 includes an insert tube 433, a locking stud 436, and a biasing member 432. The insert tube 433 has a lower portion 431 which is inserted securely into the tubular mounting end of the front section 132, an upper portion 438 which is inserted into and which is rotatable relative to the distal end 411, and a middle portion 437 which is disposed between the upper and lower portions 438, 431. The locking stud 436 has an inner portion 4361 which is mounted in and which is movable relative to the middle portion 437 in a direction radial to the upright direction, and an outer portion 4362 which extends from the inner portion 4361 and outwardly of the middle portion 437 in the radial direction. The biasing member 432 is disposed in the middle portion 437 and has a curved biasing section 435 to connect and bias the inner portion 4361 of the locking stud 436 outwardly and in the radial direction. As such, the flat table portion 42 can be turned about the swivel axis to move to a position of use which is closer to the front seat rod 31 of the seat member 3, as shown in FIG. 4, where the outer portion 4362 of the locking stud 436 extends into the first locking hole 414, and to move away to a position of non-use which is remote from the front seat rod 31 of the seat frame 3, as shown in FIG. 5, where the outer portion 4362 of the locking stud 436 extends into the second locking hole 415.

[0018] While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretations and equivalent arrangements.

Claims

1. A swing chair comprising:

right and left support frames spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction, and each including a lower portion which is adapted to be laid on a ground surface, an upper portion which is disposed opposite to said lower portion in an upright direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, and front and rear portions which are disposed opposite to each other in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal and upright directions and each of which is disposed between said upper and lower portions;
a swingable seat member including right and left swinging frames which are mounted pivotally and respectively on said upper portions of said right and left support frames about axes oriented in the longitudinal direction, and a seat frame which is interposed between and swingable with said right and left swinging frames and which extends in the longitudinal direction;
a table mounting shaft secured on and extending upwardly from said upper portion of one of said right and left support frames;
a table member including a flat table portion, and a connecting shaft having a proximate end connected to said flat table portion, and a distal end swiveledly mounted on said table mounting shaft about a swivel axis oriented in the upright direction so as to permit said flat table portion to turn about the swivel axis to move to a position of use which is closer to said seat frame and to move away to a position of non-use which is remote from said seat frame; and
a locking member disposed to lock releasably said distal end of said connecting shaft on said table mounting shaft.

The swing chair of claim 1, wherein said table mounting shaft has a tubular mounting end and terminates at an upper abutting edge, said distal end of said connecting shaft being tubular and extending to terminate at a lower abutting edge which abuts against said upper abutting edge, and being formed with a first locking hole,

said locking member including
an insert tube having a lower portion inserted securely into said tubular mounting end, an upper portion inserted into and rotatable relative to said distal end of said connecting shaft, and a middle portion disposed between said upper and lower portions,
a locking stud having an inner portion which is mounted in and movable relative to said middle portion in a direction radial to the upright direction, and an outer portion extending from said inner portion and outwardly of said middle portion in the radial direction so as to extend into said first locking hole when said distal end of said connecting shaft is in the position of use, and
a biasing member disposed in said middle portion and biasing said inner portion of said locking stud outwardly and in the radial direction.

The swing chair of claim 2, wherein said distal end of said connecting shaft is further formed with a second locking hole spaced angularly apart from said first locking hole such that said outer portion of said locking stud extends into said second locking hole when said distal end of said connecting shaft is in the position of non-use.

4. The swing chair of claim 1, wherein said proximate end of said connecting shaft is detachably mounted on said flat table portion.
