T post hole driver - manual, portable, reusable metal stake when driven into the ground and removed forms a hole for insertion of T- posts

T Post Hole Driver is a manual, portable, reusable metal stake when driven into the ground and removed forms a hole for insertion of T Posts. The T Post Hole Driver is driven with a sledge hammer into the soil to create a properly shaped hole for the T Post. The T Post Hole Driver is removed and the T Post is inserted in the usual manner. The T Post Hole Drive allows for more accurate and uniform placement of T Posts with much less effort and time.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] This invention relates to a reusable metal stake, when driven into even difficult soil conditions and is then removed, prepares a hole of the proper shape and depth for easy insertion of a metal T Post.

[0003] Metal T Posts are more popular because of the cost and the difficulty in installation of wooden posts. These metal posts have a cross section of a T and have a wing on the lower end. This wing assures that the flat surface of the T is parallel to the fence line.

[0004] Metal T posts are commonly used for installation of woven or stranded fencing. Often soil conditions are unfavorable for the usual method of placing T fence posts, the ground being unusually hard or rocky. Metal T posts, which are not sharpened, are driven into the ground by a pipe hammer to be raised up and down to drive the post. When rocky conditions are encountered, the blunt ended T posts bounce up and down rather than penetrating the soil. When this occurs, then a hole has to be dug or a mechanical post driver has to be used to drive a T Post or a wooden post is substituted for the metal post.

[0005] When unfavorable soil conditions are encountered the T Post Hole Driver (sharpened metal stake) is driven into the soil by use of a sledge hammer. This allows the metal stake to move rocks or hard earth aside so when removed a hole with the proper depth and shape is left. Then, the metal T Post may be easily installed in the usual manner.

[0006] Often when the T Post is successfully driven in rock soil, the rocks will make the post go at a crooked angle. The T Post Hole Driver eliminates this problem. Even if the metal stake goes in crooked it can easily be straightened. So when the metal stake is removed, a straight hole has been created for proper insertion of a straight T Post.

[0007] The usual method of driving metal T Posts requires work to be performed above shoulder level. This overhead effort is both inefficient and fatiguing. Even in favorable conditions, the use of the T Post Hole Driver to produce a hole prior to the insertion of the T post speeds the process and reduces fatigue. This method also allows for more accurate placement of the T Post which results in a straighter and stronger fence.

[0008] When longer posts are used, the production of a prior hole allows longer posts to be placed with much more ease.

[0009] If an insurmountable rock is encountered, then it may be difficult to remove the T post. Often the T post is bent in the process of removal. By having a predetermined hole for placement of the T Post this problem is eliminated.

[0010] The use of a pre-driven hole also assures the T Posts can be installed at a predetermined uniform height.

SUMMARY

[0011] The T Post Hole Driver is a sharpened metal stake with an attached metal wing that when driven into the ground and removed provides a hole of the desired shape and length for easy insertion of T Posts.

Objects and Advantages

[0012] T Post Hole Driver makes installation of T Posts much easier and faster. The T Post Hole Driver eliminates the problem of T Posts being installed crookedly and uneven in height. T Post Hole Drive makes the placement of T Posts more accurate and assures uniform depth and reduces post damage.

Even in favorable conditions, the use of the T Post Hole Driver to produce a hole prior to the insertion of the T post speeds the process and reduces fatigue. This method also allows for more accurate placement of the T Post which results in a straighter and stronger fence.
When longer posts are used, the production of a prior hole allows longer posts to be placed with much more ease.
If an insurmountable rock is encountered, then it may be difficult to remove the T post. Often the T post is bent in the process of removal. By having a predetermined hole for placement of the T Post this problem is eliminated.

2. The T Post Hole Driver is driven with a sledge hammer into the soil to create a properly shaped hole for the T Post. The T Post Hole Driver is removed and the T Post is inserted in the usual manner.
