Disease free disposable plastic liner for pedicure and manicure basin

Presently, in the nail industry, no absolute prevention of the spread of hand/foot/nail fungal and bacterial disease is practiced. My invention provides a solution to this dilemma. The consistent application of an individual, plastic, disposable, fitted liner or insert to each pedicure and manicure basin, prior to use, guarantees that no disease can be transmitted from client to client.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION Medical/Beauty Field of Technology

[0001] The present state of technology in the nail industry allows ‘unprotected basins’to be used consecutively between clients. These clients with hand/foot/nail disease, unknowingly, transmit their disease to countless other clients. The disease media, warmth and moisture, magnifies the spread of the bacterial/fungal residue on basin through the warm water. All these medical problems are easily, completely solved with the placement of individual disposable liners for each client.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0002] With the use of individual basin liners for each client, no prior or current client can transmit disease.

[0003] The object of this invention is to create proper public health standards in the nail industry and to prevent the transmission of common fungalibacterial infections from client to client.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0004] In the manicure/pedicure industry, clients'feet and hands are placed in plastic basins with warm, soapy water. These basins have been used repeatedly through days/weeks/months on other clients without benefit of visibly, proven standards of their state of disinfection. Many individuals working in this area are insufficiently schooled in the medical category of mechanical sterilization and cross-contamination. Most nail parlors rinse basins out of sight without the proper use of antifuingal and antibacterial agents, thus enabling the spread of disease. One infected client easily transmits disease to any number of future clients, through the residual bacterial and fungal cells left in the unprotected basin which magnify in this perfect growth medium exposed to the warm soapy water.

[0005] Foot and nail fungus and bacteria thrive in dark, warm and moist environments. Because the feet are usually placed in shoes and socks or stockings, all conditions are present for growth and continuation of disease. Most of these conditions take months or even years to clear with common cures. Prescription medical cures are very expensive and extremely harsh on human organs such as the liver, mandating constant medical testing and supervision

[0006] When these diseased feet are placed in warm water, in an unprotected basin, the basin becomes contaminated and is left with residual pathogenic cells. This same basin is refilled with the warm water and used by the next client, exposing client to disease conditions and transmission of infection.

[0007] This spread is much more common in pedicure procedures as feet are more prone to fungal/bacterial infection due to the usual post procedure conditions of being placed in dark, warm moist conditions, (shoes/socks) the perfect media for disease proliferation. All these factors contribute to the problem and are instrumental in the growth of the pathogens originating in the unprotected pedicure basin.

[0008] An individual, disposable, fitted plastic liner, 2 ML thick, for pliability and comfort, placed in basin for each manicure/pedicure procedure, ensures each client of a disease free environment and guarantees no further transmission of pathogens. This invention is necessary to prevent the proliferation of communicable conditions like common foot fungus (athlete's foot), bacterial infections and the very common nail fungus. This public health issue is very easily and permanently solved by always lining the basins with this disposable, inexpensive invention. Herein lays a simple solution, the application of which, should become standardized procedure.

[0009] Finger nails are generally healthier than toe nails mostly due to open air, dry conditions which are not particularly conducive to the growth and development of pathogenic organisms. An exception occurs commonly in the large group of people who have porcelain or acrylic nails as the additional cover is occlusive and interferes with proper ventilation, oxygenation and growth of the nail bed. Due to the resultant fungal growth beneath these cosmetic nails, disease cells adhere to the manicure basin and can be transmitted to the next client as well. Although not as common a transmission source as pedicure, the possibility exists and comparative infrequency is due to the post treatment conditions as determined above. This individual basin liner assures asepsis and the absence of disease conditions.

[0010] This specific Pedicure Liner is designed to fit a plastic pedicure basin of approximately 14″×18″and 6″deep. This is the common nail parlor size. Many individual styles and sizes are designed for home use which is not relevant here.

[0011] The liner has 1 bottom and 4 side adhesive areas covered with peel off protectors. These protectors peel off to allow the liner a snug fit for client comfort and ease of emptying liquid at the end of the procedure. Simple removal of liner follows the procedure and replacement of a new liner for next client is easily accomplished.

[0012] Another 2 ML clear plastic, Manicure Liner is designed to fit the average salon manicure basin of approximately 6-7″by 3″deep, to ensure absence of cross-contamination between clients. Since basin is much smaller, no adherent backing is necessary. A simple, comfortably fitting liner is easy to empty, dispose of and replace.

Claims

1. The consistent placement of a disposable plastic insert or liner for each pedicure and manicure procedure guarantees that no prior client or current client's hand/foot or nail bacterial or fungal infection would ever be transmitted to any person.
