Abstract

A piece of stuffed sitting furniture comprising a supporting framework, a back and at least one arm is described.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a piece of stuffed sitting furniture in accordance with the classifying part of claim 1.

[0002] Stuffed sitting furniture, for example armchairs or divans with at least one arm have the disadvantage that they are not very practical when the user wants to set objects near himself because his sitting position is not very well suited to extending his hand on a chair-side table to take an object.

[0003] Prior art armchairs are also inconvenient for the use of data processing equipment because no steady position is provided for resting or installing it within the user's reach.

[0004] One of the purposes of the present invention is therefore to remedy this drawback and propose a piece of stuffed sitting furniture and in particular an armchair which would be equipped with a holder in such a manner that the latter would be practically invisible when not in use position and keeping in spite of everything the appearance of an armchair without a holder.

[0005] Another purpose is to make a holder particularly suited for use of a ‘laptop’ apparatus and in particular calculators, computers et cetera.

[0006] This purpose is achieved by a piece of stuffed sitting furniture having the characteristics of the characterizing part of claim 1.

[0007] The solution in accordance with the present invention calls for a horizontal housing in each arm. This housing has the form of a slot with mutually parallel planes of a height such as to receive a holder board. This board is articulated at one of its ends to a vertical pin born by the stuffed furniture framework. The geometry of the board itself is complementary to the geometry of the housing in such a manner that the board can be inserted completely in the housing without protruding from the sides of the arm. In the board's position fully withdrawn into the housing the visible edges of the board are butted in one variant on horizontal decorative strips in such manner that an aesthetically pleasing appearance is achieved which does not lead to the imagination of a holder board being present.

[0008] By shaping the board in a suitable manner it can receive a ‘laptop’ apparatus or itself consist of an apparatus of this type.

[0014] With reference to the figures, reference number 1 designates the armchair as a whole.

[0015] The armchair rests in a known manner on the floor by means of feet 2 which extend from a frame of which a lower cross piece 3 is visible in the figures. On the frame are a stuffed sitting plane 4, an arm 5 with support surface 6, an arm 7 with support surface 8 and a panel 9 connecting the two arms together and rising at the rear side from the sitting plane 4. At a distance from the support surfaces 6, 8 in each arm 5, 7 is made a housing 10 receiving a board 11 and respectively a housing 12 receiving a holder board 13.

[0016] In the closed position the two boards 11 and 13 display edges flush with the outer surfaces of the arms 5 and 7 and are filleted respectively to a decorative strip 14 and a decorative strip 15.

[0017] As may be seen in FIGS. 1, 3 and 4, to the holder board 11 is articulated a panel 16 along a hinge 17 while to the holder board 13 is articulated a panel 18 by means of a hinge 19.

[0018] Each panel 16, 18 is hinged to the respective holder board 11 e 13 to move to a flush position having a thickness 20 and 21 respectively forming with the associated outer edges 22 and 23 of the boards a height corresponding to the height of the decorative strips 14 and 15. The lines of articulation of the hinges 17 and 19 in the closed position of the holder boards are a continuation of the decorative lines on the decorative strips.

[0019] As may be seen in FIG. 3 the holder boards 11 and 13 have different lengths so that they can be rotated within respective circles 26 and 27 respectively whose radiuses are also the radiuses of curvature respectively of the board 11 together with the panel 16 and the board 13 together with the panel 18. The radiuses of the circles 26 and 27 are also chosen so as to exclude interference of the two tables 11 and 13 in rotation around their supporting pin 28.

[0020] Numerous variants of the piece of furniture in accordance with the present invention are possible without abandoning the protection of the present invention.

[0021] Protection is thus requested for a piece of furniture in which the holder receives a so-called ‘laptop’ apparatus, for example a computer, the keyboard of which is received by the board and the monitor by the panel. It is clear that the body of the keyboard could form the board directly and the body of the screen could form the screen directly.

[0022] Appropriately in such a case in the piece of furniture itself there could be provided an electrical current storage battery for example rechargeable for powering the ‘laptop’ apparatus.

Claims

1. Piece of stuffed sitting furniture comprising a supporting framework, a back and at least one arm characterized in that in the at least one arm (5,7) is made a slotted housing (10,12) open at least on the external side of the arm (5,7) in which is received a holder board (11, 13) rotatably arranged around a bin (28) extending vertically and movable from a closed position (FIG. 2) in which the vertical external edges (22, 23) are flush with the sides of the arm in an extracted open position in which the board (11, 13) is employable for use.

2. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 1 characterized in that the vertical external edges (22, 23) are filleted in the closed position of the board (11, 13) with horizontal decorative strips (14, 15)

3. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 2 characterized in that to at least one of the edges (22, 23) is articulated to a panel (16, 18) hinged to the free side of the board (11, 13) outside the arm in position of use.

Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 3 characterized in that in the housing (10, 12) is received a thickness (20, 21) opposite the axis of rotation (pin 28) of the board (11, 13) on one of the sides thereof with the thickness (20, 21) being the continuation of the panel (16, 18) in the position unpended on the board.

5. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 4 characterized in that the time of articulation and of the board in closed position extends in a line a separation on the outer edge of the decorative strip.

6. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 5 in which two arms are provided characterized in that in both the arms is provided a holder board of a length such that the two boards do no interfere with each other in rotating around the axis of articulation.

7. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 5 characterized in that the lengths of the two holder boards are different.

8. Piece of furniture in accordance with the claim 7 characterized in that the holder receives a so-called ‘laptop’ apparatus such as for example a computer.

9. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 8 characterized in that the keyboard of the ‘laptop’ apparatus is received by the board and the screen by the panel.

10. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 9 characterized in that the keyboard body is formed directly by the board and the screen body is formed directly by the screen.

11. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 10 characterized in that an electrical current storage battery for example rechargeable supplies the ‘laptop’ apparatus.

12. Piece of furniture in accordance with claim 11 characterized in that an extractable support designed to receive electrical outlets for direct supply or recharging of the accumulators is provided.
