BACKGROUND

[0004] The present invention pertains generally to forced air systems which deliver air to interior spaces through air register vents and devices that covers said vents.

[0005] 2. Discussion of Prior Art

The item that is currently on the market and relates closest to the technical field of my invention is a tall plastic vent cover that sits on top of an indoor floor heat register, and directs air into a room. This item can adjust to various widths and is held in place by two small magnets.

[0008] The referenced retrofitted cover is designed to work with existing registers in a home or office. The cover can be easily attached directly over an existing vent register by using adhesive or magnets located on the back of the cover.

[0009] A problem that this vent cover solves is that it allows air to be directed into the room. A disadvantage of this vent cover is that it is easily breakable and not visually attractive.

OBJECT AND ADVANTAGES

[0012] 2. When airflow is turned off to the register, this invention will completely cover the vent, thereby preventing any dust from entering the air duct and being re-circulated.

[0038] This invention is a cover for an air register, it is made from the following components:

[0039] 1. Two thin strips of plastic, metal, wood or fabric

[0040] 2. A thin plastic, wooden, metal, or fabric hinge.

[0041] 3. A thin magnetic strip.

[0042] 4. A thin strip of adhesive means.

[0043] The plastic, metal, wooden or fabric rectangle piece that will actually cover the vent is durable, lightweight and unbreakable. The thin plastic, wooden, metal or fabric hinge holds the two pieces of plastic, metal, wood or fabric together so that they act like a door opening and closing. The thin magnetic strip, tape or adhesive product holds the invention to the back of the vent register. The tape, or adhesive product gives the user the option of using the cover on a wood, metal or plastic register.

[0044] Vent-it is a thin cover for a heat/cooling register found in any home. It is held to the vent register by magnets. It has a basic working hinge that lifts the cover when the heating or air conditioning is turned on and then lets the cover down when the air is turned off. It is both a practical and unique product.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0045] The invention comprises a novel combination of substantially planar body elements 1 and 3 that is shown in preferred embodiment FIGS. 1 and 2. Said body element 2 comprises a hinge means that connect said planar body elements 1 and 3 together. A substantial means of adhesion is represented in embodiment FIG. 2 body element 4. A substantial means of magnetic adhesion is represented in embodiment FIG. 2 body element 5. Body elements 4 and 5 and held together in a substantial bonding action through the use of the adhesion found in body element 4 of the preferred embodiment FIG. 2. The preferred embodiment fund in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 is a cover for an air register, it is made from the following components:

OPERATION OF THE INVENTION

OPERATION—ADDITIONAL EMBODIMENT

[0051] In terms of construction, in a preferred invention will be fabricated from durable plastics, wood, or metals that can undergo hot and cold temperature changes. Also the present invention may be fabricated in a plurality of sizes and shapes to accommodate any type air register.

Claims

1. A cover for an air register, comprising:

a substantially ridged planar surface that covers a commercial or residential air register, having a hinge means that permits the raising or lowering of said cover, depending upon air flow from said register.

2. The invention of claim 1 wherein said cover employs the use of a magnetic means to ensure an even contact seal on the air register when in a closed position.

3. The invention of claim 1 wherein said cover employs the use of an adhesive means to ensure an even contact seal on the air register when in a closed position.

4. The invention of claim 1 wherein said cover is constructed of a flexible material.
