Scrunch
This game of chance introduces a new pattern of play, with a peripheral path of diagonal rows of squares, permitting a variety of new ways for tokens to interact. It also introduces a new way to use the dice in different situations to keep the players tokens scrunched so the opportunity to win persists through most of the game.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION[0004] This is a game of chance with a board dice and tokens, an alternative to other such games.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION[0005] Around the periphery of the board is a narrow path of diagonal rows of squares on which the tokens move diagonally. This plus an obstacle at each corner of the board requires alterations in the tokens direction and in how the dice count is used.
[0006] The tokens interact with each other to advantage or disadvantage.
[0007] At times the dice must be used singly, together or twice on a players turn. At times the count on the dice is of no value and so is not used.
[0008] The object of the game is to move the tokens around the board gaining points by passing obstacles and so winning.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING[0009] The periphery is a narrow path of diagonal rows of squares. The path border is demarcated with triangles. At each corner is an obstacle of three squares. The central area is devoid of rows of squares and contains the word SCRUNCH. Seven extra squares in one corner indicate start.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION[0010] 0001 The game consists of a board, two dice and four pairs of like tokens.
[0011] 0002 The playing field field is marked with diagonal lines forming diagonal rows of squares along which the tokens move. The squares occupy the peripheral four inches around the board.
[0012] 0003 Each player rolls two dice. The player with the highest count on the dice is first to play. After he has finished play, the turn to play passes to the left.
[0013] 0004 Each player rolls the two dice moving one token the full count on one dice along a diagonal row of squares ,entering on a start square. The other token moves the full count on the other dice along a diagonal row of squares, starting the count from the other token. On subsequent turns each token starts its count from the other token.
[0014] 0005 A player whose token lands or passes between an opponents two tokens takes another turn.
[0015] 0006 Only one token is allowed on one square at the same time.
[0016] 0007 A players token may not pass over an opponents token unless the players token is between the opponents two tokens.
[0017] 0008 The player with the leading token may roll and count only one dice each turn, until an opponents token ties or passes the players token.
[0018] 0009 The player with the trailing token rolls and counts two dice twice each turn, until his two tokens do not trail.
[0019] 0010 Tokens may be moved in or against the direction of play.
[0020] 0011 Tokens may not land on or pass over a colored row of triangles or squares.
[0021] 0012 When a players two tokens pass a corner obstacle ahead of all players, one point is scored and with five points the player wins the game.
Claims
1 A board with diagonal lines resulting in the formation of diagonal rows of half inch squares in a path four inches wide around the periphery of the board resulting in frequent:change in direction of a token, loss of forward motion of a token and occasional loss of the count on the dice.
2 An obstacle of a line of squares, located at each corner of the board, which does not block a tokens passage but by narrowing the passage forces strategic planning by the player to accomplish passage.
3 The player rolls two dice, moves one token the full count on one dice along a row of squares, then moves the other token the full count on the other dice along a row of diagonal squares, each token starting its count from the other token and always moving along a diagonal row of squares.
4 A player whose token lands or passes between an opponents two tokens takes an extra turn.
5 A players token may not pass over an opponents token unless the players token is between the opponents two tokens.
6 The player with the leading token may roll and count only one dice each turn until an opponents token ties or passes the players leading token.
7 The player with the trailing token rolls and counts the two dice twice each turn until the players two tokens no longer trail
8 Tokens may be moved in or against the direction of play.
9 Tokens may not land on or pass over a line of triangles or colored squares.
10 The first player to move both his tokens past an obstacle before all opponents, scores a point, and can win with five points.
11 The name of the game is SCRUNCH.
