Description

[0001] THE INVENTOR WAS A MASSAGE THERAPIST BEFORE HER HEART SURGERY. AFTER SURGERY SHE KEPT GOING TO SLEEP WHILE SITTING UP, AND AWAKING WITH NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN FROM A SLUMPING HEAD. SHE TRIED PILLOWS, BOLSTER ROLLS AND A COMMERCIAL NECK PILLOW THAT WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A TUBE FILLED WITH BUCKWHEAT HULLS. THEY WERE ALL UNSATISFACTORY, FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. ONE FAULT THEY ALL HAD WAS THEY WOULD NOT STAY IN PLACE.

[0002] SHE DECIDED TO MAKE SOMETHING TO FILL HER NEED. THE NECK NAPPER WAS THE RESULT.

[0003] THE NECK NAPPER IS A COMFORT DEVICE THAT WAS MADE SPECIFICALLY TO HOLD THE HEAD IN A GOOD POSITION WHEN THE PERSON WEARING IT IS SITTING UP AND GOES TO SLEEP. IT KEEPS THE HEAD FROM SLUMPING SIDEWAYS OR TOO FAR DOWN ON THE CHEST.

[0004] THE NECK NAPPER IS MADE FROM COTTON OR POLY/COTTON FABRIC. THE FABRIC PIECES ARE SEWN TOGETHER INCLUDING THE HOOK AND LOOP OPENING FOR THE FILLING. THE PIECE IS THEN TURNED INSIDE OUT AND THE TOP STITCHING THAT MAKES THE VERTICAL POCKETS IS SEWN. THE HOOK AND LOOP NECK CLOSURE IS APPLIED. THE UNIT IS THEN FILLED WITH USA GROWN PILLOW GRADE BUCKWHEAT HULLS.

[0005] THE UNIT CAN THEN BE ADJUSTED TO FIT ALMOST ANYONE BY:

[0006] 1. ADJUSTING THE NECK CLOSURE

[0007] 2. ADDING OR REMOVING HULLS

[0008] 3. MASSAGING THE HULLS TO FIT PERSONAL PREFERENCE

[0009] THE FIRST DRAWING SHOWS THE COMPLETED NECK NAPPER.

[0010] THE SECOND DRAWING SHOWS THE PATTERN
