Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates generally to undergarments and more specifically to brassieres.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The current fashions focus on fitted shirts. In order to wear such clothing with good appearance and comfort, proper fit of undergarments is required. Often, if a woman's breasts are not of the same size, her brassiere will not fit properly, thus resulting in a poor appearance.

[0003] In addition, it is critical for women of larger size breasts to have the proper support while playing sports. Proper support requires a properly-fitted brassiere in order to avoid medical problems in other areas of their bodies (i.e., the back) later in life. Woman having breasts of different sizes often do not have proper support of both breasts, thus resulting in medical problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention provides a brassiere that can easily accommodate women who have breasts of different sizes. Briefly stated, the present invention is a brassiere that comes in two parts: a left side and a right side. The purpose of my invention is so that one individual is able to purchase two different size bra cups and put them together as one brassiere to receive the support they are looking for. This invention gives a woman the confidence to wear different styles of shirts currently made available to them from clothing manufacturers. In addition, this brassiere would give women playing sports the support they are looking for as an alternative for feeling the need to have a breast reduction. This would save women a substantial amount of time and money.

[0005] Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon review of the following detailed description, claims, and drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0006] FIG. 1 is a exploded perspective view of a brassiere embodying the present invention, and

[0007] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the brassiere of FIG. 1 in an assembled condition.

[0008] Before one embodiment of the invention is explained in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or being carried out in various ways. Also, it is understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting. The use of “including” and “comprising” and variations thereof herein is meant to encompass the items listed thereafter and equivalents thereof as well as additional items.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0009] The brassiere 2 illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2 includes a left side 4 and a right side 6. Each side is made from a suitable material, such as an elastic material (e.g., cotton, Lycra, Spandex, or other material). Each side also includes a cup 8 for supporting a user's breast.

[0010] The left side 4 includes a left front closure 12 and a left back closure 20, and the right side 6 includes a right front closure 14 and right back closure 22. The left front closure 12 can be detachably connected to the right front closure 14, and the left back closure 20 can be detachably connected to the right back closure 22. Either or both of the closures can be adjustable, as is known in the art. The closures can be any suitable fastener, such as hook and loop material, clasps, hook and eye, open hooks, or any other fastener. In the illustrated embodiment, the front closure is an open hook and the back closure is a hook and eye closure.

[0011] In accordance with the present invention, the left side 4 can be attached to the right side 6 to create an assembled brassiere, as shown in FIG. 2. Because of the separate halves, the cup size of the left side 4 can be different from the cup size of the right half 6, this accommodating a woman who has two different sized breasts. In this manner, the user can decide at the point of purchase the exact size cups for each side of the assembled brassiere, thus allowing customization of the brassiere.

[0012] The present invention can also be useful for modifying a brassiere after the point of purchase. Sometimes, a user's breasts can change in size over time, such as during pregnancy or a change in hormone levels. Often, this change in breast size will occur on only one breast. With this invention, the user can simply buy the portion of the brassiere that needs to be changed, thus saving money and providing the user with a properly-fitting brassiere.
