Edge-it
A U shaped plexiglas channel wrapped with variable colored neoprene which, in practice, slips on and off a table edge easily. However, a tapered design allows said channel to fit tightly over a table edge while in use. When as is commonly used, the user sitting at a table supports the forearms on a padded surface, protecting the arms from the rough edges and cleaning chemical residue remaining on the table surface
[0001] (1) The field of endeavor for which the invention pertains is a Utility Patent Application.
[0002] (2) There are no references to specific documents related to this invention. However, standard fold up table edges, computer desk edges and miscellaneous table edges are known to be rough and uncomfortable. In addition, chemicals used to clean the surfaces irritate the skin of forearms and elbows of the user.
[0003] (3) This invention slipped over a table's edge is intended to protect users arms from the afore mentioned conditions.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION[0004] (1) This invention is a U shaped plexiglas channel wrapped with a neoprene pad that slips over the edge of a table to protect the user's arm from rough edges and/or cleaning chemical residue remaining on the table surface.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS[0005] (A) FIG. 1—3 Dimensional view 11, {fraction (3/16)}″ plexiglas 12, {fraction (3/16)}″ neoprene 13, ½″ radius.
[0006] (B) FIG. 2—Top view 11, {fraction (3/16)}′ plexiglas 12, {fraction (3/16)}″ neoprene 13, ½″ radius.
[0007] (C) FIG. 3—Front view illustrates spacing of the channel opening 11, {fraction (3/16)}″ plexiglas 12, {fraction (3/16)}″ neoprene 13, ½″ radius.
[0008] (D) FIG. 4—Left side view illustrates the tapered height from front to back of the channel opening 11, {fraction (3/16)}″ plexiglas 12, {fraction (3/16)}″ neoprene 13, ½″ radius.
[0009] (E) FIG. 5—Right side view illustrates the same description as FIG. 4 in reverse.
[0010] (F) FIG. 6—This drawing illustrates an example of the use of the channel on a table edge. 14, the EDGE-IT 15, a standard ¾″ table edge 16, Illustrates the EDGE-IT sliding on and off the table.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION[0011] (1) This invention is an arm pad that fits on the edge of any standard ¾″ fold up table or ¾″ miscellaneous table.
[0012] (2) The channel shaped product is designed with a smaller dimension at the opening of the channel to slide on and hold tightly over a table edge.
[0013] (3) This channel used on the table edge in front of where the user sits, is designed to protect the forearms and elbows from sharp or uncomfortable table edges. This will also protect the user from chemical residue remaining on the table after cleaning.
[0014] (4) This product will be manufactured out of {fraction (3/16)}″ plastic or Plexiglas through injection molding in one U shaped solid piece. Exterior surfaces will be wrapped with a neoprene or similar padding. The padding could be an adhesive backed material, or a separate adhesive may be used to apply the neoprene.
[0015] (5) The unique features of this product that distinguishes it from other inventions is the size. This product as illustrated on the drawings as a channel 2½″ wide by 8″ long by 1⅝″ high. Other sizes would be available.
[0016] (6) Another unique feature that differs from other products is that if and when the neoprene gets soiled or damaged on one side, it can be flipped over to the opposite side.
[0017] (7) The primary market for which this product is related to is the Bingo Industry. Due to it's size, it is easy to carry in bingo bags, purses or any small carry bags.
[0018] The secondary market is for schools, office or homes.
[0019] (8) Another unique feature would be the various amounts of colors the neoprene padding could be marketed with.
[0020] (9) This product will also be produced in various lengths or sizes.
Claims
1. A neoprene padded plexiglas channel for slipping over an edge of a standard folding table protecting the user's forearms from rough edges and cleaning chemical residue, comprising:
- (A) Injection molded one piece {fraction (3/16)}″ thick U shaped channel of various sizes and lengths for use as an arm pad over rough table edges
- (B) Said channel consists of a narrower dimension at the front opening opposed to a wider opening at the base of the channel, whereby
- (C) Said channel can be easily slipped on and off a table edge, whereby
- (D) Said channel when slipped over an edge of a table will provide a tighter and more comfortable fit
- (E) Said channel to have all exterior faces incased with a continuous wrap of {fraction (3/16)}″ neoprene, adhered with a self adhesive back or separately applied adhesive
- (F) Neoprene to be trimmed evenly at all exposed edges of the channel, whereby
- (G) Allowing a comfortable and protected surface to rest the forearms
- (H) Said neoprene to be available in a selection of colors providing a more marketable product
