Vibrating finger ring

A finger ring having a band for receiving a human finger, a chamber projecting from the top of the band comprising two complementary round hollow members joined by the engagement of circumferential male threads on one member and circumferential female threads on the other member to form a tight seal, one of said members being affixed to said band and the other member being rotatable on said threads and carrying ornamental or decorative effects on its outer surface, a battery and a vibrating motor being snugly received in said chamber, said battery being adapted to power said vibrating motor by making up the male and female threads by manual rotation or twisting of the one said member to bring the vibrating motor into electrical contact with the battery, the rotation or twisting being reversed to turn said vibrating motor off, all without breaking said seal.

Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

[0001] Various erotic stimulation devices are known.

[0002] U.S. Pat. No. 5,377,692 describes a vibrating condom or device having an inflatable vibrating region or self-activated vibrating region which contacts the clitoris or vaginal walls.

[0003] U.S. Pat. No. 5,067,480 discloses a stimulator for use in marital orgasmic therapy.

[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 4,835,303 discloses a hair circle for conjugal affection consisting of a base member of elastic material having a plurality of spaced holes extending radially therethrough. A tuft of hair through each hole. The device is worn on the penis and is used to stimulate the vagina.

[0005] U.S. Pat. No. 3,978,851 discloses a stroking device which can be worn in proximity to an erogenous zone of the body.

[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 6,419,649 B1 discloses a sexual aid comprising a battery operated vibrator which attaches to the user's tongue. In one embodiment, the device is held to the tongue, which is pierced, by a post passing through the tongue, in which case the post is connected to a battery housing and/or vibrator housing and the device can be turned on and off by turning the post.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0007] Briefly, this invention comprehends a finger ring having a band for receiving a human finger, a chamber projecting from the top of the band comprising two complementary round hollow members joined by the engagement of circumferential male threads on one member and circumferential female threads on the other member to form a tight seal, one of said members being affixed to said band and the other member being rotatable on said threads and carrying ornamental or decorative effects on its outer surface, a battery and a vibrating motor being snugly received in said chamber, said battery being adapted to power said vibrating motor by making up the male and female threads by manual rotation or twisting of the one said member to bring the vibrating motor into electrical contact with the battery, the rotation or twisting being reversed to turn said vibrating motor off, all without breaking said seal.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0016] Turning to the drawings in more detail, the finger ring (generally 10) includes a band 12 sized to fit a human finger. Affixed to the upper portion of band 12 is lower round member 14 which is hollow inside and has a flat bottom 16 and a perpendicular side 18 which has circumferential external male threads 20 at its terminal end.

[0017] Carried by the lower round member 14 is upper round member 22 which also has a flat bottom surface 24, and a perpendicular side 26 which has circumferential internal female threads 28 at its terminal end. Threads 20 and 28 are complimentary and when engaged provide a fluid tight seal even when only partially made up to allow the device to be used safely for its intended purposes. This is particularly important as the ring in use may be inserted in moist body cavities.

[0018] Battery 30 is snugly received in the lower round member 14. Suitable batteries are commercially available.

[0019] The vibrating motor 32 is snugly received in the upper round member 22. The vibrating motor 32 can be held as shown in FIGS. 5 and 5a by small spring retainers attached to perpendicular side 26, or by a two-sided adhesive strip adhered to the flat bottom surface 24. The vibrating motor is of the type generally available and used in pagers.

[0020] The upper surface 34 of upper round member 22 can be provided with any type of decorative or ornamental appearance such as gems, precious metals, a retaining bezel as shown on the drawings, or any other arrangement known in the jewelry trade.

[0021] The battery 30 has electrical contacts 36 which are adapted to contact the surface of the vibrating motor 32 when the threads 20 and 28 are fully made up and engaged as shown in FIG. 5b. The number of contacts depends upon the type of battery and vibrating motor chosen.

[0022] In operation, the upper round member 22 can be manually rotated or twisted, as indicated by the arrows in FIG. 5b to further engage threads 20 and 28, to turn the vibrating motor 32 on. Reversing the direction of twist turns the motor off as contact between the battery 30 and vibrating motor 32 is broken.

[0023] The device can also be constructed to be turned off and on by a switch affixed to the side of upper round member 22 or elsewhere on the ring in which case appropriated electrical circuitry is provided within the chamber carrying battery 30 and vibrating motor 32.

[0024] In use, the ring can be turned on and used to stimulate any erogenous zone of the human body by direct contact. The device is also decorative and can be worn in the same manner as any finger ring.

[0025] While the invention has been depicted with the battery in the lower chamber and the vibrating motor in the upper chamber, the positioning of these elements can be reversed.

[0026] The band 12 can be hinged to facilitate placement on the finger. The band can also be of the expansion band type.

[0027] Having fully described the invention, the following claims are intended to particularly point out and distinctly claim the invention.

Claims

1. A finger ring having a band for receiving a human finger, a chamber projecting from the top of the band comprising two complementary round hollow members joined by the engagement of circumferential male threads on one member and circumferential female threads on the other member to form a tight seal, one of said members being affixed to said band and the other member being rotatable on said threads and carrying ornamental or decorative effects on its outer surface, a battery and a vibrating motor being snugly received in said chamber, said battery being adapted to power said vibrating motor by making up the male and female threads by manual rotation or twisting of the one said member to bring the vibrating motor into electrical contact with the battery, the rotation or twisting being reversed to turn said vibrating motor off, all without breaking said seal.

2. The finger ring of claim 1 wherein the battery is carried below the vibrating motor in said chamber.

3. The finger ring of claim 1 wherein the ring has an outer surface is variously shaped and provided with decorative and ornamental effects.
