Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a safety handlebar assembly for electric scooters and includes two switches on two handlebars respectively and the motor is activated only when the two switches are operated.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A conventional electric scooter is convenient for seniors and generally includes a board with a front wheel and a rear wheel connected to an underside of the board. A handlebar post is connected to the front end of the board and a handlebar with two grasps are extended from the handlebar post so that when operating the handlebar, the front wheel turns. One of the grasps is equipped with an acceleration device which is rotatable relative to the handlebar so that when rotating the acceleration device, a motor connected to the board is activated and directly drives the rear wheel to move the scooter. It is a potential risk for a user who holds the grasp by one hand and the other hand does not hold the other grasp, because the motor can be activated by rotating the acceleration device, the scooter could suddenly move forward if the acceleration device is operated. Once the scooter moves with only one hand on the handlebar, the user cannot control the scooter well.

[0003] The present invention intends to provide a safety handlebar assembly for an electric scooter and the motor can only be activated by two hands on the two grasps of the handlebar.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a electric scooter which comprises a board having a seat assembly and a motor is connected to the board so as to drive a rear wheel connected to an underside of the board. A connection member with a head tube is connected to a front end of the board and a handlebar post rotatably extends through the head tube. A front wheel is connected to a first end of the handlebar post and the handlebar is connected to a second end of the handlebar post. An acceleration device is rotatably connected to a first end of the handlebar and a first switch is connected to a second end of the handlebar. The first switch is connected to the motor.

[0005] The primary object of the present invention is to provide an electric scooter and the motor of the scooter can only be activated by two hands put on two switches of the handlebar.

[0006] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show the electric scooter of the present invention;

[0008] FIG. 2 shows a top view of the electric scooter of the present invention;

[0009] FIG. 3 shows that only one hand rotates the acceleration device on the handlebar of the electric scooter of the present invention, and

[0010] FIG. 4 shows that two hands put on two switches on the handlebar of the electric scooter of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0011] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the electric scooter of the present invention comprises a board 10 having a seat assembly extending from a top surface thereof and a motor 20 is connected to the board 10. A rear wheel 11 is connected to an underside of the board 10 and is driven by the motor 20.

[0012] A connection member 100 is connected to a front end of the board 10 and a head tube 101 is connected to a distal end of the connection member 100. A handlebar post 300 rotatably extends through the head tube 101 and a front wheel 31 is connected to a first end of the handlebar post 300 and a handlebar 30 is connected to a second end of the handlebar post 300.

[0013] An acceleration device 301 is rotatably connected to a first end of the handlebar 30 and a first switch 50 is connected to a second end of the handlebar 30. The first switch 50 is connected to the motor 20. A second switch 500 is connected to the handlebar 30 and located beside the acceleration device 301. The second switch 500 is connected to a control device 60 which is connected to the board 10 and the first switch 50.

[0014] The first switch 50 and the second switch 500 may be temperature-sensored switches, touch-operation switches, or micro-switches. A folding device (not shown) may also be used to allow the connection member 100 to be folded toward the board 10 so that the scooter can be folded to a compact size.

[0015] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
