Separable chair assembly

This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a separable chair assembly, in particular a type of chair assembly which can be separated, folded, overlapped for storage with least space, characterized in that the chair assembly consists of one back unit and one seat unit, closed matched. The back unit and the seat unit are in an H form with slight curvature looked from a side view. The back unit is designed wider than the seat unit, so the chair assembly can be folded in one piece when not in use. The back unit is furnished with a front retaining board and a rear retaining at the center part. While in use, the back unit and the seat unit will cross each other so as to set the seat unit leaning on the retaining boards thus to form a chair. It is a practicable application for use.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a separable chair assembly, mainly a foldable type for storage with least space and portable to be easily carried along and set up at any place the user desires.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] In the furniture market, there are two models of chairs available; one is the traditional model as shown in FIG. 1. The other is the common model as shown in FIG. 2 with foldable legs.

[0003] As for the traditional model, the chair is assembled by nailing and bolting wooden components together in a robust structure, but the striking weak point which always prevails is the bulky volume occupying a large room to set in. The other model, though foldable, runs more than often a great deal of risk for children to be wounded in catch and clamp. Besides, the structural strength and life span of the second model are far weaker than those of the first model.

[0004] For these reasons, the inventor, with rich professional experience of many years, has spent great effort to improvement and design and finally came up with a separable chair assembly as described herein, which is convenient for public use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The primary object of this invention is to provide a novel design of a separable chair assembly which can be folded and overlapped for occupying least space in storage and convenient for carrying along. While in use, put two units in cross position to gain mutual support with no pivoted leg. It is completely safe to sit on with no risk of collapse or wound.

[0006] To achieve such a significant goal, the invention provides a separable chair assembly, mainly consisting of a closely matched back unit and seat unit, both are in curved H form but the back unit is slightly wider than the set unit, so they are permitted to be folded and overlapped in one piece. The back unit furnishes a front retaining board and a rear retaining board arranged in staggered position. When in use, the seat unit is inserted between two retaining boards in the cross posture, standing there for a person to sit on.

[0007] This invention will be explained in great details with the aid of embodiments as illustrated in the attached drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0019] This invention has designed a separable chair assembly with a unique purpose to minimize the volume for storage. The design covers two units, the back unit and the seat unit in overlapping structure. As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the chair assembly 1 at least comprises a back unit 10 and a seat unit 20, wherein:

[0020] Both the back unit 10 and the seat unit 20 have two slightly curved back stretches 101, 201 with a plurality of parallel cross slats 102, 202 to form an H form. A retaining board 11 is installed at a certain distance downward from the lowest slat 102 of the seat back, and a corresponding retaining board 11 is installed at the back of the lowest slat 102, thus both retaining boards 11 are in staggered position, permitting limited seats for use.

[0021] The slat 102 shall keep a gap from the retaining board 11 wide enough to allow free insert of the seat unit 20. However, the clearance between the back unit 10 and the seat unit 20 shall be maintained adequately to preclude the generation of noise and reduction in structural strength.

[0022] These basic components render a novel separable chair assembly as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.

[0023] Please refer to FIGS. 6 and 7 for the practical use of the invention. FIG. 6 shows a chair assembly 1 in folded position, wherein a seat unit 20 is taken off from a back unit 10, and said seat unit 20 was inserted into the gap between the lowest slat 102 of the seat unit 10 and a retaining board 11, and the slat 202 of the seat unit 20 are caught between two stretches 101 of the back unit 10 to complete assemblage of a chair. FIG. 7 shows the action after use. Lift the seat back 20 of the chair assembly 1 off the back unit 10, and then insert the seat unit 20 from the upper part of the back of the back unit 10, so the lowest slat 202 of the seat unit 20 will rest on the rear retaining board 11 of the back unit 10. The overlapped chair assembly is easy to be carried along and convenient for storage.

[0024] FIG. 8 shows the forces applied to the chair assembly of this invention. Before use, the back unit 10 and the seat unit 20 are mutually supported to prevent displacement and skid by the slats 102, 202 (A, B parts indicated in the drawing). When a person sits on the chair assembly 1, the weight actually falls on the front half part of the seat unit 20; at this moment, the retaining boards 11 withstand the maximum weight (C.D parts in the drawing). The most suitable way to prevent the retaining boards 11 from being broken is to stiffen these retaining boards with bolt locks. FIG. 9 shows another way of reinforcement, wherein the stretchers 101 at two sides of the back unit 10 are designed with lower grooves 103 and the retaining boards 11 are glued and bolted in the grooves 103 in an effort to gain strong support and weight distribution.

In practical application, the chair assembly 1 of this invention can be expanded in transverse direction by enlarging the size of the slats 102, 202 and retaining boards 11 of the back unit 10 and the seat unit 20 and adding additional stretchers 101, 201 to enhance the strength and make it a multiple seat chair.

[0026] In addition, the chair assembly 1 of the invention has a diverse application as shown in FIG. 11, wherein the stretchers 30 are bracketed across each other and a table leaf board 31 is placed on the top to form a simplified table 3, thus to achieve the advantages of fast assemblage and convenient storage.

[0027] The chair assembly of this invention is a special design. It is assembled when in use, folded and overlapped when not in use to save space, thus to provide great flexibility and aesthetic effects.

[0028] This separable chair assembly of this invention is very effective in saving space while not in use and it is also a practicable novel invention, flexible for subtle application and good enough to be justified for a grant of patent.

Claims

1. A separable chair assembly, mainly comprising a back unit and a seat unit characterized in that:

said back unit and said seat unit have two slightly curved back stretchers arranged with a plurality of parallel cross slats to form an H form, a retaining board is installed at a certain distance downward from a lowest slat of said seat back, and a corresponding retaining board is installed at back of said lowest slat, thus said retaining boards are in staggered to position, permitting limited seats for use.

2. The separable chair assembly of claim 1, wherein

said slat shall keep a gap from said retaining board wide enough to allow free insert of said seat unit.

3. The separable chair assembly of claim 1, wherein stretchers at two sides of said back unit are designed with lower grooves and said retaining boards are glued and bolted in said grooves in an effort to gain strong support and weight distribution.

4. The separable chair assembly of claim 1, wherein a chair assembly can be expanded in transverse direction by enlarging size of said slats and retaining boards of said back unit and said seat unit and adding additional stretchers to enhance strength and make said chair assembly a multiple seat chair.

5. The separable chair assembly of claim 1, wherein stretcher, replacing said back unit and seat unit, are bracketed across each other, and a table leaf is placed on top of said stretchers to form a simplified table.
