DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0019] Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a package support device for a compact disc in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a support disk 10.

[0020] The support disk 10 has a center formed with a through hole 11. The support disk 10 has a first side formed with a plurality of (preferably four) V-shaped protruding ribs 12 each extended from a center to a periphery of the support disk 10. The protruding ribs 12 of the support disk 10 are spaced from each other and arranged in a radiating manner. The first side of the support disk 10 is formed with an annular inner rib 14 intersecting each of the protruding ribs 12 and an annular outer rib 13 intersecting each of the protruding ribs 12. The annular inner rib 14 and the annular outer rib 13 of the support disk 10 are concentric with each other. The annular outer rib 13 of the support disk 10 is located at the periphery of the support disk 10. Each of the protruding ribs 12 of the support disk 10 is provided with an arcuate raised locking rib 15 which is located at an inner edge of the annular inner rib 14. The support disk 10 has a second side formed with a mounting recess 16. The mounting recess 16 of the support disk 10 has an annular wall formed with an oblique chamfered portion 161.

[0021] The package support device in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention further comprises a cylindrical advertising paper 30, a central post 40, and a cylindrical contraction film 50. The central post 40 has an end formed with a resting plate 42. The resting plate 42 of the central post 40 is formed with an insertion section 41. The insertion section 41 of the central post 40 has a cruciform shape.

[0022] The procedure for packaging a plurality of compact discs 20 is described as follows.

[0023] First of all, a first support disk 10 is mounted on a support rack 60 as shown in FIG. 4, with the mounting recess 16 of the first support disk 10 being directed upward. Then, a plurality of compact discs 20 and the cylindrical advertising paper 30 are mounted on the first support disk 10 as shown in FIG. 4A, with the advertising paper 30 being coated around the compact discs 20, and with the lower end of the advertising paper 30 being mounted in the inner periphery of the mounting recess 16 of the first support disk 10. Then, the compact discs 20, the advertising paper 30 and the first support disk 10 are removed from the support rack 60 as shown in FIG. 4B. Then, a second support disk 10′ is mounted on the resting plate 42 of the central post 40 as shown in FIG. 4C, with the mounting recess 16 of the second support disk 10′ being directed downward, and with the insertion section 41 of the central post 40 being inserted into the through hole 11 of the second support disk 10′. Then, the central post 40 is inserted into the central hole 21 of each of the compact discs 20 and the through hole 11 of the first support disk 10, so that the second support disk 10′ is mounted on the compact discs 20 and the advertising paper 30 as shown in FIG. 4D, with the upper end of the advertising paper 30 being mounted in the inner periphery of the mounting recess 16 of the first support disk 10. Then, the cylindrical contraction film 50 is heat sealed between the annular inner rib 14 and the annular outer rib 13 of the support disk 10, thereby accomplishing the packaging process of the compact discs 20 as shown in FIG. 4E.

[0024] As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, two package support devices are laminated in a vertical manner, wherein the arcuate raised locking ribs 15 of the lower support disk 10 of the upper package support device and the arcuate raised locking ribs 15 of the upper support disk 10′ of the lower package support device are arranged in a staggered manner, thereby forming an interlocking action, so that the two package support devices are laminated rigidly and stably.

[0025] As shown in FIG. 7, when the user wishes to remove the contraction film 50, the user can press the recesses formed between the protruding ribs 12, the annular inner rib 14 and the annular outer rib 13 of the support disk 10 so as to break and tear the contraction film 50. After the contraction film 50 is removed, the advertising paper 30 and the upper support disk 10′ of the upper package support device are removed, thereby exposing the compact discs 20 for use. The upper support disk 10′ of the upper package support device can be mounted on the compact discs 20 when not in use.

[0026] Accordingly, the package support device for a compact disc in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention has the following advantages.

[0027] The package support devices are laminated rigidly and stably by design of the arcuate raised locking ribs 15 of the support disk 10 of each of the package support devices, so that the compact discs 20 can be laminated and supported rigidly and stably.

[0028] In addition, the mounting recess 16 of the first support disk 10 provides a rigid support effect to the advertising paper 30, thereby facilitating packaging of the compact discs 20.

[0029] Further, the recesses are formed between the protruding ribs 12, the annular inner rib 14 and the annular outer rib 13 of the support disk 10, thereby facilitating the user breaking and tearing the contraction film 50.

[0030] Further, the central post 40 is combined with the support disk 10 to support the compact discs 20 rigidly and stably, thereby providing a positioning effect efficiently.

[0031] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
