Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a water toilet bowl as a main body and a separate trapway.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] There is a big difficulty for the European producer to have a good market in North America. The tradition in both continents is different in point of flushing system of ceramic closets. In North America continent a syphonic type ceramic closets are used.

[0003] In the European continent, the design and flushing system of the ceramic closets is completely different. They can be wash down (s-trap), or wash horizontal outlet (p-trap). There is a standard dimensions for the drain part of the ceramic bowl. The flushing system is not syphonic and it is water pressure related. Comparing with the syphonic types, there is a big design facility.

[0004] Since there is no market for the syphonic type ceramic closet bowls in Europe, the European producer must have a different production line for this type closets. Separate production line meaning; separate casting line, glazing line, mould production line and ware storage. Obviously, it means very high production costs.

[0005] Providing a modular toilet bowl can solve these problems. U.S. Pat. No. 6,108,826 discloses a separate lower trap assembly, which is preferably formed of plastic such as PVC, is adapted to include passage extension segments that each adds a precise predetermined length to a passage. More specifically, a drain trap length of 8 inches can be extended to 10 inches by adding one segment, to 12 inches by adding a second drain trap extension segment and to 14 inches by adding a third segment. Although this toilet bowl is used for easy production of concealed trapway type American closet, and the American type closet which has easy adjustable ‘rough in dimension’. But, our invention is related with the adaptation of bottom outlet European type closets.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] It is an object of the present invention to create a syphonic action by a novel trapway for non-syphonic water closet, known as European type in the prior art. This object is achieved by fixing a separate trapway to the main body before installation by rubber seal.

[0007] The present invention solves the problem related to production line disclosed in the prior art. This is accomplished without changing the design of the European type main ceramic closets.

[0008] A separate trapway, which is fixed to the drain part of the main body, creates a syphonic action during the flushing and fulfills the ASME and CAS requirements.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0025] FIG. 1 shows the European type non-syphonic floor mounted bottom-outlet water closet, which is well known in the prior art. This water closet comprises a bowl (1), a rim (2), a water inlet opening (3), a drain part (4) and a cistern (5). A separate trapway is fixed to the drain part of the said water closet to create a syphonic action.

[0026] This separate trapway can be made from different materials. In one of the preferred embodiments it is made from plastic material like PVC. But it can be also produced from other materials like ceramic. The design of the separate trapway changes according to material that it is made.

[0027] FIG. 2 shows the separate trapway (6), which is made from plastic material like PVC. The separate trapway (6) comprises a mounting plate (7), fixing holes (8) on the mounting plate (7), which are come into the same position with the fixing holes of the closet during installation, an outer ring (9) and an inner ring (10) that comprises a upper part (11) and a lower part (12). The outer ring (9) and the upper part (11) of the inner ring (10) extend upwards from the mounting plate (7). The diameter of the outer ring (9) is around 110 mm. whereas the diameter of the upper part (11) of the inner ring is 70 mm. The upper part has notches (13) on its outer surface. The lower part (12) of the inner ring (10) extends downwards from the mounting plate (7) and has a continuous connection with the upper part (11) of the inner ring (10). The diameter of the lower part (12) of the inner ring (10) is around 52 mm. The height of this ring (12) is around 15 mm.

[0028] During installation of the ceramic closet, the separate trapway (6) is fixed to the outlet of the drain part (4). The outlet of the drain part (4) is placed between the inner (10) and outer ring (9) of the separate trapway (6). The notches (13) on the outer surface of the inner ring (10) prevent the water leakage. The installation is completed after fixing the lower part (12) of the inner ring (10) to the sewage outlet. After installation a continues diameter decrease is obtained from 80 mm to 70 mm and 52 mm. This graded diameter decrease starting from the outlet of the drain pipe (4) provides a strong syphonic action. FIG. 3a and FIG. 3b is a cross-sectional and bottom view of water closet after installation of the separate trapway (6) according to the invention. The lower part (12) of the inner ring (1O) satisfies the ASME and CAS requirements for installation.

[0029] In the second embodiment of the invention, the separate trapway (14) is made from ceramic material. The design of this trapway (14) is little bit different from the design of the first embodiment that is made from plastic material. The upper, cross-sectional and bottom view of the second embodiment are shown in FIGS. 4a, 4b and 4c. Unlike the first embodiment, second embodiment of the separate trapway (14) is produced without outer ring (9) and notches (13). This trapway (14) comprises a mounting plate (15), fixing holes (16) on the mounting plate (15), and a ring (17) that comprises upper part (18) and lower part (19). The upper part (18) of the ring has 70 mm diameter and 60 mm height. The lower part (19) of the ring (17) is designed according to the ASME and CAS requirements for installation and has an outlet with 52 mm diameter. After the casting of the water closet and separate trapway (14), the upper part (18) of the ring (17) is fixed to the outlet of the drain part (4) by applying a special slip. Then it is glazed and fired as a single piece. Since the separate trapway (14) is fixed to the water closet, a graded diameter decrease from 80 mm to 70 mm and 52 mm is obtained starting from the outlet of the drain part (4). This graded diameter decrease creates very strong syphonic action after flushing.

[0030] The separate trapways that is disclosed in the first and second embodiments (6, 14) of the present invention make possible to sell the European type ceramic water closet to the North America without changing the design of the drain part (4) of the water closet.

[0031] In the third embodiment of the present invention the separate trapway (20) is made from plastic material. It comprises a mounting plate (21), fixing holes (22) on the mounting plate (21), which are come into the same position with the fixing holes of the closet during installation and a ring (23) that extends upwards from the mounting plate (21). This ring (23) has 102 mm outside diameter. Unlike the separate trapways (6, 14) that are disclosed in first and second embodiment, this separate trapway (20) is fixed to the water closets (24), which satisfy the ASME and CAS requirements for installation. Changing the drain part (4) of the water closets can satisfy these requirements. The drain parts (25) can be designed with graded diameter decrease from 70 mm to 52 mm as shown in FIG. 7a. After firing of this new water closet (24), the separate trapway (20) is fixed to the drain part (25) by rubber sealing. This separate trapway (20) makes possible to market the water closet (24) in Europe.
