Two tiered vented canopy wind resistant umbrella

Disclosed herein is an new structure of a two tiered vented canopy wind resistant umbrella. The front portion of each umbrella rib is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first and second rib sections on which two mutually overlapped umbrella covers are laid on forming a fissure therebetween so as to release the wind force. Moreover, several spring elements are intercalated in the fissure between the two umbrella covers so as to protect the first rib sections form over flexing or even breaking due to strong wind force.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to the structure of a wind resistant umbrella, and more particularly, to a wind resistant umbrella at the front portion of each umbrella rib is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first and second rib sections on which two mutually overlapped umbrella covers are laid on forming a fissure therebetween for the purpose of releasing a wind force. Moreover, several spring elements are intercalated in the fissure between the two umbrella covers so as to protect the first rib sections from flexing or even collapsing due to strong wind force.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] An umbrella is one of the important accoutrements. In a sunny day, it is employed to shade harmful ultra violet ray, while in a rainy day, it is used to keep away the rain drips so as to keep user's body always clean and healthy. The umbrella was prevalent in by gone time, it prevails in the present day, and surely it will be necessary in the future.

[0005] The umbrella cover of a conventional umbrella is normally formed into a spherical surface so as to facilitate rain water to drop down along its surface. However, a conventional umbrella constructed as such has a fatal weakpoint that in the case a strong wind force attacks in the normal direction to the outer surface of the umbrella cover, it not only calls for the user to hold onto the umbrella forcibly with a great effort in order to prevent his/her umbrella from flying away, but also in the worst case, the whole umbrella might collapse. The same thing would happen in case the wind attacks the inner surface of the umbrella cover.

[0006] It is what the reason the inventor has endeavord for years by continuous research and experimentation attempting to find out the remedy to rectify the inherent shortcomings of the conventional umbrella described above, and at last has succeeded in realizing the present invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] Accordingly, it is an abject of the present invention to provide a wind resistant umbrella at is front portion each umbrella rib is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first and second rib sections on which two mutually overlapped umbrella covers are laid on for releasing a wind force.

[0008] It is another object of the present invention for further enhancing the wind resistant ability of the umbrella by interposing a spring element between the first and the second rib sections so as to keep a proper clearance therebetween thereby protecting the first rib section from excursing away too much and even being flexed.

[0009] For achieving the above object, the umbrella of the present invention is essentially composed of a plurality of foldable ribs, a first and a second umbrella covers, and spring elements wherein the front portion of each foldable rib is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first and second rib sections overlapping in the manner the shorter first section being located above the longer second one. The vertex of the first umbrella cover is sewn on an upper nest cap, while its lower edge thereof is sewn onto the tip of each first rib section. And one edge of the second umbrella cover is sewn to the lower end of each second rib section, while the other edge to the tip of each second rib section such that the lower portion of the second umbrella cover is overlapped by the first umbrella cover leaving an wind releasing fissure therebetween. The spring elements are concealingly intercalated in the above said wind exit fissure between the two covers so as to release the wind blow attacking the umbrella. The function of the spring element is to protect the first rib section not to excurse too far away from the second rib section by strong wind force resulting in collapsing of the umbrella.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0014] Referring to FIG. 1 through FIG. 2B, the wind resistant umbrella of the present invention comprises a telescoping backbone 1, an upper nest 6, a lower nest 5, a plurality of foldable umbrella ribs 2, a first umbrella cover 31, a second umbrella cover 32, and a plurality of spring elements.

[0015] The telescoping backbone 1 sustaining the umbrella is formed of a plurality of telescoping tube sections;

[0016] The upper nest 6 is fixed to a cap of the umbrella on top of the backbone 1;

[0017] The lower nest 5 is slidably sleeved over the backbone 1 to be movable up and down along the backbone 1;

[0018] Each foldable umbrella rib 2 is formed of several rib sections hinged together. Its front portion is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first rib section 21 and second rib section 22 overlapping in the manner the shorter first rib section 21 being laid above the longer second rib section 22. The innermost section is biforked into a main rib section 23 and a branch rib section 24 which are jointed to the upper nest 6 and the lower nest 5 respectively causing the rib 2 to be developed when the lower nest 5 moves upwards.

[0019] The first umbrella cover 31 is connected to the upper nest cap 6 by sewing its vertex on the upper nest cap 6, while its lower edge is sewn onto the tip of each first rib section 21.

[0020] The second umbrella cover 32 is connected with the second rib sections 22 by sewing its one edge to the lower end of each second rib section 22, while the other edge to the tip of each second rib section 22 such that the lower portion of the second umbrella cover 32 is overlapped by the first umbrella cover 31 leaving a wind releasing fissure therebetween.

[0021] The spring elements 4 each of them is concealingly intercalated in the fissure with its one end sewed to the tip of the first rib section 21, while its other end sewed to near the middle portion of the second umbrella cover 32 so as to release the wind force but not to spoil outer looking of the umbrella.

[0022] The functional operation as to how the wind pressure is released from the umbrella is shown in FIG. 3. In the case while the inner surface of the umbrella covers 31, 32 is attacked by a strong wind blow, the first rib section 21 will be flexed upwards by a wind force 7 so as to expand the fissure between the two umbrella covers 31, 32 thereby providing means for releasing the wind force 7. At this time, being flexed upwards, the first rib section 21 pulls to elongate the spring elements 4 such that excessive excursion of the first rib sections 21 from the second rib section 22 is prohibited by the restoring force of the spring elements 4. As a result, collapsing of the umbrella can be effectively prevented. When the wind ceases, the first rib sections 21 will automatically returns to its initial position by restoring force of the spring elements 4.

[0023] In the case when the outer surface of the umbrella covers 31, 32 is attacked by a strong wind blow, similar to the above situation, the wind force 7 can be released from said fissure between he two umbrella covers 31, 32 so that the umbrella would not collapse, but also the user is released from applying a great force to retain the umbrella from flying away.

[0024] It emerges from the above description that the present invention has several noteworthy advantages compared to the conventional folding umbrella, ie:

[0025] 1. By dividing the front portion of each umbrella rib into parallel but different lengthed first and second rib sections on which to lay two mutually overlapped umbrella covers offers the umbrella ability to release the wind pressure thereby successfully providing a wind resistant umbrella.

[0026] 2. A wind releasing fissure formed between the two umbrella covers by intercalating a plurality of spring elements therebetween enables to maintain a proper distance between the two rib sections by means of the restoring force of the spring elements to cope with the strong wind force thereby well protecting the umbrella from collapsing.

[0027] Those who are skilled in the art will readily perceive how to modify the invention. Therefore, the appended claims are to be construed to cover all equivalent structures which fall within the true scope and spirit of the invention.

Claims

1. A two tiered canopy wind umbrella comprising:

a telescoping backbone formed of a plurality of telescoping tube sections for sustaining said umbrella;
an upper nest fixed to a cap of said umbrella on top of said backbone;
a lower nest being slidably sleeved over said backbone to be movable up and down along said backbone;
a plurality of foldable umbrella ribs each being formed of several rib sections hinged together, wherein its front portion is divided into parallel, but different lengthed first rib section and second rib section overlapping in the manner the shorter first rib section being laid above the longer second rib section;
a first umbrella cover being connected to said upper nest cap and said first rib sections;
a second umbrella cover being laid over said second rib sections with its lower portion overlapped by said first umbrella cover leaving a wind releasing fissure therebetween; and
a plurality of spring elements each of them being concealingly intercalated in said wind releasing fissure with its one end sewed to the tip of said first rib section, while its other end sewed to near the middle portion of said second umbrella cover.

2. The umbrella as in claim 1, wherein said first umbrella cover is connected to said upper nest cap and said first rib sections by sewing its vertex to said upper nest cap and sewing its lower edge onto the tip of each first rib section.

3. The umbrella as in claim 1, wherein said second umbrella cover is connected with said second rib sections by sewing its one edge to the lower end of each second rib section, and the other edge to the tip of each second rib section.

4. The umbrella as in claim 1, wherein said spring elements are concealingly intercalated in said fissure formed between said two overlapping umbrella covers so not to spoil the outer looking of said umbrella.
