Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a trunk and, more particularly, to a telescopic handle of a trunk and, more particularly, to an apparatus for mounting a telescopic handle on a trunk.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

[0002] Taiwanese Patent Publication No. 457865 discloses an apparatus 30 for mounting a handle 31 on a trunk 20. Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, the apparatus includes a ring 25 secured to an upper portion of the trunk 20 and a base 23 secured to a lower portion of the trunk 20. The handle 31 is inserted through the ring 25. A lower end of the handle 31 is attached to the base 23. The ring 25 must be shaped in compliance with the handle 31 so as to prevent the handle 31 from shaking therein. Handles different shapes and sizes may be used, and therefore rings of different shapes and sizes must be made for engagement with them. Molds of different shapes and sizes are required in order to mold the rings of different shapes and sizes. This increases costs for providing trunks with handles of different shapes and sizes and causes troubles in storing and managing rings of different shapes and sizes.

[0003] The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in prior art.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0004] It is the primary objective of the present invention to provide an apparatus for mounting various handles on various trunks.

[0005] According to the present invention, an apparatus is provided for mounting a handle on a trunk. The apparatus includes a base and a mount. The base is secured to the trunk and pivotally connected with the handle. The mount is secured to the trunk and pivotally connected with the handle. The mount defines a hole through which the handle extends.

[0006] The apparatus may further include a joint for pivotally connecting the handle with the base.

[0007] The apparatus may further include a joint put in the hole of the mount for pivotally connecting the handle with the mount.

[0008] Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the attached drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0019] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus is shown for mounting a handle 30 on a trunk 40.

[0020] The handle 30 includes a tube 31, a rod 32 inserted in the tube 31 and a grip 33 secured to the rod 32. The tube 31 includes a lower boss 311 formed thereon and an upper boss 312 formed thereon.

[0021] The apparatus includes a base 10 secured to a lower portion of the trunk 40 and a mount 20 secured to an upper portion of the trunk 40. The tube 31 is inserted through the mount 20. The tube 31 includes a lower end pivotally connected with the base 10 and an upper end pivotally connected with the mount 20.

[0022] The base 10 includes two ears 11 each defining a hole 12. A joint 13 includes two bosses 14. Each of the bosses 14 is inserted in the hole 12 of one of the ears 11, thus pivotally mounting the joint 13 on the base 10. The joint 13 defines a hole 15 for receiving the lower end of the tube 31 and a recess 16 for receiving the lower boss 311 of the tube 31, thus keeping the lower end of the tube 31 in the joint 13.

[0023] The mount 20 defines a hole 23 in which the upper end of the tube 31 is inserted. The mount 20 includes two ears 21 each defining a hole 22. The hole 23 is located between the ears 21. A joint 24 defines a hole 25. The joint 24 is put in the hole 23, and the upper end of the tube 31 is inserted in the hole 25. The joint 24 defines a recess 27 for receiving the upper boss 312 of the tube 31, thus keeping the upper end of the tube 31 in the joint 24. The joint 24 includes two bosses 25 formed thereon. Each of the bosses 25 is inserted in the hole 22 of one of the ears 21, thus pivotally mounting the joint 24 on the mount 20.

[0024] Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, the tube 31 and the rod 32 both extend in a curve with a small radius of curvature. The joint 13 is located so that its axis is at a large angle from a vertical line. The joint 24 is located so that its axis is at a large angle from a vertical line.

[0025] Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, the tube 31 and the rod 32 both extend in a curve with a large radius of curvature. The axis of the joint 13 is at a small angle from a vertical line. The axis of the joint 24 is at a small angle from a vertical line.

[0026] Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8, the tube 31 and the rod 32 both extend in a straight line. The axis of the joint 13 extends vertically. The axis of the joint 24 extends vertically.

[0027] Referring to FIG. 9, the apparatus shown in FIGS. 1˜8 can be used for mounting the handle 30 on a small trunk 41.

[0028] The present invention has been described through detailed illustration of the preferred embodiment. Those skilled in the art can derive variations from the preferred embodiment without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the preferred embodiment shall not limit the scope of the present invention defined in the claims.
