Abstract

A golf swing training aid for demonstrating a level even swing using a simple attachment method and demonstrating a path of swing by use of a retractable cord.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention relates to the field of golf training aids.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The prior art includes quick like channels for guiding a puttee through a stroke and retractable lines for directing a putter to a target at or near the line source. These devices have complicated means of attaching to the putter and though they guide your puttee to the target they do not allow the player to diagnose and adjust his own swing.

[0003] The applicant's invention provides a simple attachment method and assists the player in diagnosing and swing his own putter stroke to get an even and square face on the ball.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0008] FIGS. 1 and 2 shows a gold training device having a base 1 to which a support arm 2 attaches. The support arm 2 supports a reel device 3. The real 3 is circular and spring based to retract line 4 onto the reel if tension is not applied. The line 4 is attached to the reel 3 at one end and a means for attaching to the golf club at the opposite end. In a preferred embodiment, the means 5 is a clip for holding on the shaft of a golf club.

[0009] FIG. 3 shows the player attaches the golf club to the line and anchors the base 1 to a surface like a carpet or green. The player then draws out some line and places his ball in line with the line 4 extending from the base 1. The line 4 gives a means of aiming a putt. An even swing without movement into or away from the player is the goal. The line is of a distinctive color and will show the path of the stroke if observed by the player or an instructor or assistant. Repeated practice will indeed make perfect.

[0011] For turf, FIG. 4B shows spikes which can include golf tees or nails or the similar devices for piercing into the ground and are angled to reduce the chance of pulling out of the ground under tension.

Claims

1. The nylon cord that attaches to the putter will show the user whether or not he/she is drawing the putter back in a straight line.

2. The nylon cord that attaches to the putter will show the user whether or not he/she is following through to the target in a straight line.

3. The minimal tension on the nylon cord will teach the golfer to stroke the ball with enough force to make the ball travel to the hole, thus never being short again, never up, never in!!
