Footzee
A soft cushioned body sanding sponge made from foamed polymer sponge material having two radiused sides meeting front and back panels which are convex in shape and having an abrasive coating covering both sides and front and back panels. The body sanding sponge is particularly useful for sanding and smoothing the rough skin from the areas of the feet, knees, elbows, as well as other areas of the body and the combination of the foamed polymer sponge and the convex shape of the front and back panels enables the body sanding sponge to conform to the natural contours of the area being abraded as well as to be used in multiple sanding directions. The foamed polymer sponge may have different degrees of hardness by using different densities of the same foam material and the abrasive coating may have different degrees of grit or the like bonded to the outer portion of the sanding sponge.
[0001] This invention relates to the tools that are useful for remove rough, dry skin from the areas of the feet, knees, elbows, as well as other areas of the body which tend to become rough and dry. Typically, the removal of this rough dry skin is necessary in order to provide for smooth skin and reduced irritation. The removal of this rough dry skin can be accomplished using a sanding device made of a solid material such as plastic or wood with a portion covered with an abrasive material such as sandpaper. These solid material sanders do not conform to the body's natural contours, are not compressible, and are not able to be used in multiple sanding directions.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS[0003] The present invention shall now be described with reference to the preferred embodiments as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 and is not intended to imply any essential limitations on the scope of the invention. In the Drawings a sponge formed by open-celled polyurethane polymer, 1, having first and second radiused sides, 2 and 3, and convex front and back panels, 4 and 5, covered with an abrasive coating. The abrasive coating is adhered directly to the planar surfaces of 2, 3, 4, and 5.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION[0004] The present invention provides a device for the removal of rough dry skin from areas of feet, knees, elbows, as well as other areas of the body which tend to become rough and dry. The invention consists of a polymer sponge material having radiused sides and convex front and back panels with both sides and front and back panels covered with an abrasive material adhered directly to the sponge. The compressibility of the sponge material as well as the convex shape of the front and back panels allows for the body of the invention to conform to the contours of the body area being abraded. The material from which the sponge is formed shall be that of an open-celled polymer foam such as polyurethane although other open-cell polymers may be used. The nature of the foam material will enable the invention to conform to the area of the body being abraded but will regain its original shape after any deforming pressure has been removed and will also enable the invention to retain its shape after multiple deformations. The abrasive material adhered directly to the sponge shall be of a waterproof nature and will maintain its consistency and abrasive qualities during any deforming pressure of the sponge and retain the abrasive qualities after multiple deformations of the sponge.
Claims
1. A body sanding sponge formed by an open-celled polyurethane polymer foam material, with said sponge having two radiused side panels converging with convex front and back panels, with said panels being coated with an abrasive material.
2. A body sanding sponge according to claim 1 in which the entire planar surfaces of both radiused side panels and convex front and back panels are coated with a waterproof abrasive material.
3. A body sanding sponge according to claim 1 in which a coating of abrasive granules is adhered along the entire planar surfaces of both radiused side panels and both convex front and back panels.
4. A body sanding sponge according to claim 1 in which abrasive granules are embedded or bonded along the entire planar surfaces of both radiused side panels and both convex front and back panels.
