Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to hose reel device a roller and a cam so as to squeeze the water out from the hose to reduce the volume of the hose wrapped around a mandrel of the device.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The hose for gardening is generally several feet and occupies a lot of space when it is not in use. If the hose are not well organized, it looks mess on the ground and could tangle kids. Although there are many types of the hose reel devices in the market, most of them involve complicated structure so that a high cost is accompanied with. Besides, the case of the device is huge so that it is not suitable for those who have small space to store the huge case.

[0003] The present invention intends to provide a hose reel device that is composed only two parts so that the hose can be wrapped around a mandrel to be a very slim assembly which is convenient to be stored and carried.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a hose reel device which comprises a casing having a recess defined in a side thereof and a rotatable member is rotatably engaged with the recess. A first passage is defined through a wall of the casing, and communicates with the recess. An opening is defined in an outer surface of the casing and communicates with the first passage so that the hose is wrapped around the mandrel and its end is extended form the opening. A roller and a cam are respectively installed in the opening. The cam is connected to a lever on the side of the casing so that a gap between the roller and the cap can be adjusted by pivoting the lever to squeeze the water in the hose.

[0005] The rotatable member has a second passage defined therein which is convenient for the user to insert the hose through the second passage and to wrap the hose to the mandrel.

[0006] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

[0007] FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show the hose reel of the present invention;

[0008] FIG. 2 is an exploded view to show the hose reel of the present invention;

[0009] FIG. 2A shows the hose is wrapped around the mandrel and passes through the gap between the cam and the roller, an end of the hose is secured on the positioning member;

[0010] FIG. 3 is an end cross sectional view to show the hose reel of the present invention;

[0011] FIG. 4 shows the cam is rotated by pivoting the lever to narrow the gap between the roller and the cam;

[0012] FIG. 5 shows the cam is rotated by pivoting the lever to an opposite direction to widen the gap between the roller and the cam;

[0013] FIG. 6 shows the mandrel has engaging hooks on a distal end thereof;

[0014] FIG. 7 shows the handle is pivotably connected to the frame on the rotatable member, and

[0015] FIG. 8 is a cross sectional view to show the engagement of the frame and the handle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0016] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3 and 3A, the hose reel device of the present invention comprises a casing 10 having a recess 11 defined in a side thereof and a hole 111 is defined through the casing 10 and communicates with the recess 11. A handle 13 is connected to the casing 10 by an elongate hole 12 and a receiving space 14 is defined in an outer surface of the casing 10. A positioning member 141 extends from the receiving space 14 so as to engage with a first end of the hose 50 which will be described hereinafter. A first passage 15 is defined through a wall of the casing 10 and communicates with the recess 11. An opening is defined in the outer surface of the casing 10 and communicates with the first passage 15. Further referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, a roller 32 and a cam 31 are respectively installed in the opening by a first shaft 15 and a second shaft 16. The cam 31 is connected to a lever 33 which has one end fixed to the first shaft 15 which extends through the casing 10 and the cam 31. A notch 330 is defined in a side of the lever 33 and the notch 330 is engaged with the second shaft 16 which extends through the casing 10 and the roller 32. The lever 33 is located on the side of the casing 10 so that a gap between the roller 32 and the cap 31 can be adjusted by pivoting the lever 33.

[0017] Further referring to FIG. 6, a rotatable member 20 is a circular plate 21 and is engaged with the recess 11. The rotatable member 20 has a mandrel 22 which has a plurality of engaging hooks 23 extending froth a distal end thereof and the engaging hooks 23 are rotatably engaged with an inner periphery of the hole 111. A second passage 212 is defined in the rotatable member 20 so that a second end of the hose 50 is convenient to be inserted through the second passage 212 and wraps around the mandrel 22.

[0018] Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8, the rotatable member 20 has a handle 40 pivotably received in a concavity 24 defined in an outside of the rotatable member 20. The handle 40 has an end 41 which has two slots 412 defined in two opposite sides thereof. A hole 411 is defined through the end of the handle 40. The end 41 of the handle 40 is pivotably connected to a connection frame 25 located at an end of the concavity 24. The connection frame 25 includes two side walls and each side wall has a boss 251 extending from an inside thereof. The two bosses 251 can be easily slid into the slots 412 and engaged with the hole 411 through the end 41 of the handle 40. The first end of the hose 50 extends through the first passage 15 and can be pulled out from the opening via the gap between the roller 32 and the cap 31.

[0019] When retrieving the hose 50, the lever 33 is pivoted a shown in FIG. 4 to narrow the gap between the roller 32 and the cam 31, the hose 50 is pulled through the gap and the cam 31 squeezes the water in the hose 50 so that the hose 50 is flattened and saves space.

[0020] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
