Easy access file support bracket

Abstract

A U shaped hanger made from commercial grade steel. This hanger is designed with a hook on one end. Use of two hangers placed on the top of a two drawer or four drawer vertical filing cabinet creates an assembly whereby an office worker can place over the hooks a light box-like container used to hold extra files.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to the field of hanger assemblies. More particularly, the invention relates to a hanger assembly for use with standard vertical two drawer or four drawer filing cabinets.

2. Description of Related Art

Although the generation of today has tried to become a paperless society, this has not happened. The flow of excess paper is still around. Two drawer and four drawer filing cabinets are still heavily used. Many offices are quite small in size and can only accommodate one or two filing cabinets, thereby making it necessary to place needed files in other areas. This hanger assembly will alleviate the need to constantly leave the office in order to obtain needed files. There are numerous hanger assemblies available to the officer worker. Most are designed to hang from office partitions, walls or doors. None over vertical filing cabinets. Accordingly, it is desirable to have a bracket designed to fit over filing cabinets which are common items found in most all offices.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The subject invention features a novel bracket hanger assembly. This bracket hanger assembly consists of two U shaped metal forms designed to fit over the top of a standard two or four drawer vertical filing cabinet. This bracket is designed with a hook feature on one side. This hook feature is designed to hold in place a light box-like container for holding extra files.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The Easy Access File Support Bracket is made from commercial grade steel ½ inch wide by {fraction (1/8)} inch thickness. The length of the bracket is 24⅔ inches for the letter size filing cabinet and 28 inches for the legal size filing cabinet. The steel is bent to create an upside down U shape form with another bend on one end creating a hook. The measurements are 4½ inches×15¼ inches×4½ inches×{fraction (1/2)} inch×{fraction (3/4)} inch for a letter size filing cabinet. The measurements are 4½ inches×18½ inches×4½ inches×12 inch×{fraction (3/4)} inch for a legal size filing cabinet. The bracket is painted with black flat protective enamel.

1. The Easy Access File Support Bracket is a hanger assembly consisting of two U shaped metal forms designed to fit over the top of a standard two or four drawer vertical filing cabinet.

2. This bracket is designed with a hook feature.

3. This hook is designed to hold in place a light box-like container for holding extra files.
