In addition, an apparatus for forming the cutting lines of the sandpaper is provided.
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a sandpaper, which comprises a base sheet made of paper or fabric and an abrasive coated to a surface of the base sheet, and a manufacturing apparatus thereof. More specifically, the present invention is directed to a roll-type sandpaper, which is wound many times, having a plurality of cutting lines, each of which is formed in parallel by a predetermined interval and has a plurality of slits; and an apparatus for forming the cutting lines of the sandpaper.
2. Description of the Related Art
In general, a sandpaper is a type of an abrading means having an abrasive coated to a surface of a base sheet that is made of paper or fabric, and is utilized to abrade recesses and circular portions, as well as bulging portions caused by air bubbles upon coloring woods, lacquer wares, furniture, automobiles, etc., or a molding process, or to remove rust from metals.
The abrasive applied for the sandpaper is composed mainly of silicon carbide, in which silicon carbide is powdered to a predetermined grit size according to a standard size of the sandpaper, and then adheres to the base sheet. The higher size number of the sandpaper means that the finely powdered abrasive having a smaller grit size is coated to the base sheet of the sandpaper. Thereby, it is possible to perform a fine abrading process.
However, such a sandpaper is disadvantageous in that it is prepared in only the thin quadrangular shape, thus requiring a large storage volume. Further, the conventional sandpaper is inconvenient to cut by use of an additional cutting tool, such as scissors or a blade, depending on end uses or using ranges thereof. In such cases, the cutting tool in use may be damaged, due to the rough grit and high hardness of the sandpaper. Moreover, since the conventional sandpaper is sold by thin quadrangular shapes, it should be purchased in a costly large quantity, thus negating economic benefits. Otherwise, when the sandpaper is sold by the length, it additionally measures the length thereof and is cut according to the measured length, which is involved. Furthermore, it is expensive to buy the sandpaper as a fixed price.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONTherefore, it is an object of the present invention to alleviate the problems encountered in the related art and to provide a roll-type sandpaper having cutting lines, which is advantageous in terms of a small storage volume, easy cutting by the cutting line even without an additional cutting tool, and purchase in quantities required for abrasion by a barcode provided between the cutting lines, thus improving work efficiencies and generating economic benefits.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for manufacturing the cutting lines of the sandpaper.
To achieve the above objects, there is provided a roll-type sandpaper according to a first embodiment of the present invention, characterized in that the sandpaper is wound many times, and has a plurality of cutting lines, each of which is formed in parallel with a predetermined interval and has a plurality of slits. Further, the above sandpaper comprises respective barcodes between the cutting lines on a back surface thereof and a V-shaped cut formed to at least one end of each cutting line.
In addition, according to a second embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a roll-type sandpaper, characterized by comprising an abrading surface having an abrasive coated to a middle portion spaced from both side ends of a front surface of the base sheet in a longitudinal direction thereof, and a non-abrading surface formed at both sides of the abrading surface and not coated with the abrasive. Also, the above sandpaper has at least one both-sided adhesive attached on a back surface thereof, corresponding to the position of the non-abrading surface formed to the front surface thereof.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSThe above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Reference should now be made to the drawings, in which the same reference numerals are used throughout the different drawings to designate the same or similar components.
As shown in
Moreover, the roll-type sandpaper is preferably labeled with the barcodes 11, each of which has a unique pattern between the cutting lines on the back surface 14 of the base sheet thereof by use of a barcode printer. Since each barcode 11 is provided between the cutting lines 10, the sandpaper may be sold in a piece unit or more by a barcode sensor, according to the end uses or using ranges thereof.
Furthermore, it is preferred that the roll-type sandpaper has the V-shaped cuts 12 formed to one or more ends of the respective cutting lines 10. By the V-shaped cut 12, the sandpaper can be easily cut. In addition, when the V-shaped cuts 12 are provided to opposite ends of the respective cutting lines 10, the sandpaper can be more easily cut, regardless of a cutting direction. Also, the number of the V-shaped cuts 12 can be counted even in the state of the sandpaper being wound, and thus, it is possible to confirm the entire length of the sandpaper. For instance, if the intervals between the cutting lines 10 are 1 m and the number of the V-shaped cuts 12 on any one side of the base sheet is ten, the entire length of the sandpaper is 10 m.
The roll-type sandpaper with the cutting lines may be cut along each cutting line 10. Additionally, the roll-type sandpaper shown in

Therefore, the lower surface of the assistant holding tool 22 comes into contact with the -back surface 14 opposite the abrading surface 13a of the base sheet, and both sides or upper surface thereof come into contact with the back surface 14 opposite the non-abrading surface 13b thereof. Thereby, the sandpaper is combined with the assistant holding tool 22 by means of the both-sided adhesive 15 attached to the back surface 14 thereof. Hence, the back surface 14 of the base sheet is prevented from sliding from the assistant holding tool 22, resulting in improving the work efficiencies. Meanwhile, the sandpaper of the present invention may be loosened by its own resilience in the state of being wound in a roll shape. Therefore, with the aim of the sandpaper being tightly wound, the non-abrading surface 13b of the base sheet and the back surface 14 of the base sheet, which face each other in the state of the sandpaper being wound, are bonded together by means of the both-sided adhesive 15.
The roll-type sandpaper, according to the second embodiment of the present invention, has the cutting lines 10, the barcodes 11, and the V-shaped cuts 12, as in the first embodiment of the present invention.
Below, a description will be given of an apparatus for forming cutting lines of a sandpaper of the present invention.
As shown in
The steel blade 42 is used to form the cutting lines 10, and is fitted into a long groove formed in a longitudinal direction of the first roller 40. Thus, the intervals between the cutting lines 10 are determined by a circumferential length of the first roller 40. That is, the circumferential length of the first roller 40 is changed to adjust the intervals between the cutting lines 10. Further, a plurality of long grooves may be formed at regular intervals on the outer surface of the first roller 40, into which a plurality of steel blades 42 are fitted to control the intervals between the cutting lines 10. For example, if the circumferential length of the first roller 40 is 1 m and two steel blades 42 are fitted into the first roller 40, the intervals between the cutting lines 10 are 50 cm long.
Further, the steel blade 42 is preferably shaped in a saw tooth capable of forming a plurality of slits. Alternatively, another steel blade (not shown) without a saw tooth is used, instead of the saw-toothed steel blade 42, and thus, it is possible to form grooves in the sandpaper strip 30 to provide a temporary cutting line.
The second roller 41 comprises a surface made of an elastic material, and hence, functions to apply pressure to the first roller 40 so as to form the plurality of slits by means of the steel blade 42 of the first roller 40. Further, the second roller 41 has a buffering function. The elastic material used for the second roller 41 is exemplified by a rubber-based material.
As for operation of the above apparatus, when the sandpaper strip 30 is transferred between the first roller 40 and the second roller 41, the first roller 40 is rotated by a motor to be the same as a transferring direction and a transferring rate of the sandpaper strip 30 while being in contact with the back surface 14 of the base sheet of the sandpaper strip 30. In this case, while the second roller 41 is rotated in a reverse direction to a rotating direction of the first roller 40, it pressurizes the steel blade 42 of the first roller 40. Thereby, equally-spaced cutting lines 10 are formed on the sandpaper strip 30 by the first roller 40 which is rotated at a constant rate, in which each cutting line has the plurality of the slits formed by the steel blade 42 of the first roller 40.
The sandpaper strip 30 having the cutting lines 10, manufactured by use of the above apparatus, is produced in various standard sizes by cutting it at a predetermined width by an additional cutting device, and is wound in a roll by means of an additional roller, thus obtaining a final sandpaper with cutting lines. Further, the V-shaped cut 12 is formed to at least one end of the respective cutting lines of the sandpaper by means of an additional V-shaped cut cutter.
Before or after the cutting lines 10 are formed, the barcode 11 having information, such as a standard size of the sandpaper and a price of each piece thereof, is formed on the back surface 14 of the base sheet by use of a barcode printer.
As described hereinbefore, the present invention provides a roll-type sandpaper with cutting lines, and an apparatus for forming the cutting lines of the sandpaper. Such a roll-type sandpaper is advantageous in terms of a small storage volume, and easy cutting by the cutting line even without an additional cutting tool. Further, a barcode is provided between the cutting lines of the sandpaper, and thus, the sandpaper can be purchased in quantities required for abrasion, thereby increasing work efficiencies and generating economic benefits.
Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
